To all the people who disagreed: So you DO know how long it will take to sell the shipment?
Please tell us, seeing as how you are all from the future.

"Most Wanted was ok but everything else is paff!"

I suppose you never played NFS: Porsche, the best of the series.

What's the color of the boathouse at Hereford?

To be fair, Move MIGHT be selling great. It's just that we don't know.

How long is it going to take retailers to sell the 4.1m allotment? We don't know.

Two days ago I saw five Kinect and four Move bundles on a store shelf. The Kinect units don't count towards the 2.5m, where the four Move units do count towards the 4.1m. It is quite clear that "4.1m shipped" tells us nothing at all.

Let's say the actual sell-through figure is 3.8 million. Do you not think Sony would have published this figure instead, to directly counter Microsoft's numbers?

In all likelihood, the sell-through data is b...

Install base is important for game publishers. The larger the install base, the more potential customers for games there are.

20 owners with 20 Move controllers are better than 10 owners with 20 Move controllers.

When you buy a Kinect, it is scanned, and the model number is tied to your purchase date.

You can easily confirm this: register your Kinect, and it will tell you on what date you bought it.

'You are the controller' is the launch tagline. Obviously, there is no additional controller planned at the moment.

To draw a tagline comparison: how true is 'It only does everything'?

It's marketing, no need to get hung up on that.

Imagine a Move controller versus a Move controller with additional full body tracking. How is the latter a "crappier version"?

5557d ago 3 agree6 disagreeView comment

There is nothing wrong with adding a controller.
Kinect is still able to track your entire body. Combined with a simple controller, nothing would stop them from producing core games.

Bad analogy. 360 is not going Kinect only.

And if Metallica were to keep doing the music they've been doing while at the same time releasing a few pop music singles, why would you even care? You don't have to buy them.

So basically it's going from an average of 100,000 per day in November down to maybe 35,000 per day in December? Does that sound likely at all to you?

5557d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Of course it's wanted, and of course it's all going to be sold to customers. But we don't know how long this will take.

They could be flying off the shelves, or stores could just be stocking up on them like crazy.

However, one thing is for sure: if the sold-through figure were anywhere near 4.1 million then this would be the one Sony would have published.

It's not important if you care how much money Sony and Microsoft make. Personally, I don't give a sh** how much money they make.

But if you're interested in the install base, then sold-through to customer is the important figure.
For Move we'd also need to know how many Move controllers the average user bought. I'd assume somewhere in the range of 1.4 to 1.5.

No, Microsoft reported sold-through numbers. It's in the press release, and Aaron Greenberg confirms it numerous times on his Twitter.

<<MSFT says it sold 2.5 million Kinect to consumers. Impressive that's to consumers not sell in to retail. #halfwaythere>>
<<remember sell-in is very different than actual sell-through to consumers (actual demand) we have been reporting....>>

Actually, this is pretty much the Christmas shipment.

Why did they send out the press release now? Well, because yesterday Microsoft sent out theirs, and Sony needed a bigger number.

5558d ago 1 agree23 disagreeView comment

Maybe you should re-read what he said.

“Sony shipped 2.5 million units in the U.S. and Europe, and their sales are nowhere near that level, so I'm not sure how they can reconcile the fact that units shipped far exceed units sold.”

Sony still hasn't clarified what constitutes a unit. Obviously, each Move controller is one unit. But what about the nunchuck?

5558d ago 5 agree30 disagreeView comment

Really? I did not know this. Thank you for clearing it up.

5558d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

You do realize that for consoles December is a much bigger month than November (due to Christmas obviously)?
If Kinect did 2.5m in 25 days of November, it will have no problem doing another 2.5m in 31 days of December.
