Of course "easily a generation ahead" refers entirely to the technology.
If none of us were interested in the technology, we'd still be playing NTSC resolution on a Super Nintendo.
"And nearly everything else gets pirated so much that companies don't make much money from it!"
Source please. And no, your butt doesn't count as a source.
Also note how Half-Life sold 48,000 units (!) This game is 12 years old. Quality sells.
I just started a playthrough of it myself; it's been over 10 years since I played that game. And it supports 1920x1200.
"1080p native"
Native 1080p is 1920x1080 square pixels. The denominations 720p and 1080p always assume an aspect ratio of 1.77:1 with square pixels.
I work in the VFX industry, and if I delivered a project at 1280x1080 and called that "1080p" I'd be out of a job.
The female Shepard is very genuine.
I don't see why people don't jump at the opportunity of experiencing a sci-fi saga that's different from all the stereotypical bullcrap (super bad ass buff space marine = yawn).
"the idea is that 'you' are the main character, so your all girls :) "
I don't identify myself with the character I play. It's more akin to watching a movie. I make the choices, the character reacts.
This myth stems from sites like VGChartz.
New Vegas sold 300,000 units in 13 days/10 days (US release = Oct 19, EU release = Oct 22) *on Steam alone*.
Here's what VGChartz thinks as far as the total goes:

He understands how it works. I'm not sure where the 6 month number comes from, but that is way too high.
I have modeled a number of high detail cars for commercials and manufacturer websites, and it takes me about 150 hours for one car.
The interior eats up 90% of that time. This includes every detail down to the seatbelt buckles and floor mats; I don't think the GT5 cars contain this much detail though.
Let's check out a new release, shall we?
Fallout: New Vegas was released on October 19. In the month of October, it generated 308,000 sales *on Steam alone*.

If you add retail and other download services this is in the ballpark of how many units were sold for the PS3.
So keep up the FU...
There are plenty of pointers, but for one of the most obvious ones: look at where the side view mirror is attached to the car body.
They're just two intersecting object, so that's a giveaway right there.
Just play GT5. The blindness all those photo mode promo shots have brought onto you will immediately give way to the realization of truth.
I agree with those picks, they're all excellent and realistic.
They picked it because 1280x1080 has 33% less pixels than 1920x1080. The frame rate would suffer considerably at a full 1080p.
This way they get to claim "1080p" and 60 fps, deceiving all buyers. The vertical resolution is 1080 lines, after all, right? Cheap tactics.
The amount of denial regarding the graphics is staggering. Do people not realize how HUGE the difference between in-game and photo mode is?

Link to a 720p video or better please. There is no way the car and environment looks this clean in the actual game.
That's a funny comparison. A super high detail jungle environment versus an empty snow plane? Nice.
But regardless of this, if you think GT5 looks like this bull shot while you play the game then you're in for a big surprise.

In case you haven't noticed, this application builds a full 3D model of the person based on a depth-computed normal map. It also allows you to change the lighting (because the blobby fat guy is in full 3D).
A simple "camera" does not allow you to do this. Without depth information you can't build a 3D model.
I bought Metro 2033 for $13 a few weeks back during THQ week. Still haven't had a chance to install it. The game has joined about a dozen Steam games I have yet to play.
And despite that I *cannot wait* for the holiday sale. Spending money on Steam is like an addiction.
Nobody knows how Crysis 2 PS3 is coming along. Just like nobody knows how Crysis 2 PC is coming along.
The only version we have ever seen gameplay footage of is the 360 version. And that doesn't bode too well in my book.
