The art of humiliation in Halo 2 (and soon, H3):
--Stick a plasma grenade to an unsuspecting n00b
--Watch him writhe as the seconds tick away
--Teabag his motionless corpse (quickly, while he can still see it before respawning)
--Stick his dead body with another grenade just for the hell of it
Full confession: I've both done this--and had it done to me--online.
What's good about this:
More gamers of different ages, genders, etc. is good for the industry. It's also something that can bring people together. (See the Wii for a prime example).
What's bad:
Developers may start making games TOO simple and easy, lest they lose the casual audience. That would come at the expense of the hardcore gamer.
The mixed reviews for this are very disappointing; this game had such great potential.
I would still like to try it, tho.
Just let him say "gorram" once...
Lots of mixed reviews coming in--and most of the negativity is centered on the controls. That was supposed to be one of the game's strong points.
So--bad game development, or a flaw in the Sixaxis' motion controls?
When my PS3-owning friend buys it--and he says he will--I still want to play it.
I'm waiting for the big-name sites (IGN, Gamespot, EGM, etc.) to release their reviews.
(Like it matters--this Halo whore will buy it even if it gets 2/10!)
OK. But no spooning.
This article isn't very well-written, and bypasses many, many of the positives about both systems, and...
...it's gasoline on the bonfire on this site.
(puts up anti-flame/fanboy shield, runs like hell for cover)
Well, that's the least they should do. If I had to do without my 360 for that long, I'd go nuts. (That's why I have a Best Buy replacement plan--just bring it in for exchange).
The one-month Live card isn't really a bonus--it's basically compensation for Live time lost while the unit is under repair.
Now, 1600 Live points, or a free MS-studio game for waits longer than a month--that would be better.
Agreed...the price point is still an obstacle.
I'm hearing $399.99 for this--anyone else?
On second reading, I think I get it...sort of a Denis Leary of the gaming sect, eh? Sardonic/sarcastic/caustic...b ut all in good fun...
So maybe my original post could instead be redirected towards negative fanboys who've been knocking this game for weeks?
Appreciating a great game--even if it's not for your system--is the mark of a true gamer.
I mean, I would have killed to have God of War on my Xbox.
(I've seen ten bubbles on ano...
I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. The glitches are very evident, but they're not so bad as to make the game unplayable. Otherwise, it's a pretty conventional RPG. It seems to have had Oblivion-like ambitions, but it comes up short.
Recommended just for rental, though 360 owners starved for a decent RPG may be more forgiving.
So....
EA managed to refresh two tired franchises--Madden and Tiger--in the same year.
I think Hitler just bought ice skates...
Just when we thought the HD war was nearing an end, it managed to get crazier.
A prolonged war ends up being bad for consumers, retailers, and the industry.
The reviewer is entitled to his opinion, but he's taking some of the game's minor molehill issues (linear gameplay, no online, etc) and turning them into Everests.
Sour grapes? Did he once have a bad experience with a guy in a diving helmet?
Or just someone who doesn't appreciate a good--nay, GREAT--game?
It does seem to have potential--that kind of user-created content/personalized gaming/Sims appeal that might bring more casual gamers and families to the PS3.
Nice job. I didn't know it could do some of those things.
If MS wasn't being such a proprietary tight@ss w/the 360, I could do some of those things with my system.
Still, I'll pass this on to my friend who just got a PS3.
More than fifty Legendary pre-orders (our limit), and more than 150 presells on the Standard and Collector's editions...and that's just at my store.
I think this will be a monster.
Remember the first-day totals for Halo 2?
Blown away.
Oh for the love of God....we do NOT need another HD format.
