In case you weren't aware: many games will get content updates after they've gone gold.
"...to turn State of Decay into a more powerful and lucrative IP certainly won’t be realized by getting in bed with MS."
Despite the franchise LITERALLY becoming a more powerful/lucrative brand since its incipient release?
-Indie origin of a $20 XBLA title with some DLC's down the road
-A next-gen remaster of SoD for $30 (though that price could be disputed as being too high)
-An expanded sequel with a two-tiered pricing ...
That's not correct. QD's first game was Omikron: The Nomad Soul (PC/Dreamcast) back in early 00's. Telltale set up shop around mid '00's starting their episodic games with stuff like Sam & Max and Jurassic Park.
"dk what year telltale started but QD was back in PS2 days and still blows away TT on many points."
Sure, but like I said it depends on which one we're talking about here. Obviously the graphics engines h...
In regards to choices, it depends on which TT and QD games we're talking about though. Beyond: Two Souls took several steps backward from Heavy Rain as far as impact & story goes; in fact, QD seemed to lift from TellTale by emphasizing so much importance on that big final choice to get ending A, B, or C. So much of it was window dressing or even moving the game forward despite hitting the incorrect button prompts.
Compared to Heavy Rain? You're correct there,...
"Also, yet another game on Xbox One X that isn't 4k."
Yeah, the phrasing of that doesn't go unnoticed. Can we please stop pretending ALL XOneX-enhanced games we're going to hit this pipedream of "4K/60FPS" or "4K native all the time" that was never uttered by their marketing? These two facts can coincide:
1.) Not all X-enhanced games will run at 4K native (or have the option)...
2.) ...but the majority of current...
Only 6 editions?
I mean...I'm left disagreeing with the first half of this comment but agreeing with the second. I'm in a bind!
They guy's no stranger to a flop or two, but he has legit talent when it comes to scripts and behind the camera. Ex Machina as your directorial debut? That's damn good work.
I find that to be a trash opinion, esp. in the context of modern game reviewing atm. He knows he take more interesting angles than what you'd find on IGN or other shills.
"Just a few of his trash reviews.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - 3/5
Uncharted 2 - 3/5"
Just so we're clear: you understand that rating system is based upon his subjective viewpoint of 'liking' the thing, right? And a 3/5 for his grading ...
You know he is capable of loving some games, right?
lol
There's an insider trying to keep track of this guy's scores? Why?
Are you kidding me? It should be a whole...3 points!!!
This comparison game [moaning] over scores, despite still handing out a great score, highlights this community's unconcern with growing the hell up.
Yes, for the $25k tier; unfortunately, doesn't look like the 50k tier (100k sales in ~1 week) will be reached. Time to spam everyone on the last day. :P
Some impressive-to-good deals here. My recommends for anyone (Spotlight specific sales): SOMA and What Remains of Edith Finch.
Winner.
EDIT: Not...sure how I'm able to comment on this. :P
So your response back to me has a lot of layers, and part of that is problematic b/c of you now shifting the goalposts. To explain:
-Original comment: "It’s ridiculous that they even have to layout a content plan for a game that just released."
-2nd reply to me asking me to provide proof to my claims: "Name one game that was not modeled after an MMO and was not an expansion pass from last gen that did a road map 3 weeks after launch."...
I mean...it didn't really start off on the best foot and KZ2 is the only one with truly long-lasting staying power from what I've seen.
EDIT: But I'm actually really interested in doing a 'dev dive' on all of GG's console releases and reviewing them down the line.
...we've literally left a console generation where content plans were habitually laid out BEFORE the game's release. I'm not sure you understand the commonality of this practice (and no, not just limited to the dreaded GaaS games).
Yeah, it's a weird kind of descriptor. But does deserve some kind of 'legendary' status in regards to game console UI's though.
Couldn't even bother to watch the video?
^Uncharted 1 was not awesome from the get-go.
