Really? I figured it was the plethora of sites that seem to solely utilize the 7-10 review scale for the vast majority of AAA games since the beginning of the 7th gen, thus making terms like 'masterpiece' and 'great' feel meaningless to the average consumer. Giving a harsh opinion on a sequel he hated =/= crappy clickbait journalism. It's just another perspective.

"It wasn't a disappointment to gamers and it certainly wasn't a disappointment to Insomniac. http://www.playstationlifes... "
If this is an indirect response to me, you've failed. If someone critiques a game on how it's a disappointment (looking at a game's material, gameplay, etc.) responding with how well it did financially and appealing to the major...

"How are his reviews helpful if his taste seems so radically different from most gamers?"
The answer is literally nested in your own question. Making an informed decision on your next purchase can come from two methods: comparing or contrasting. In other words, which people run with or against your own views on what makes a worthwhile game/sequel/etc.? If his views run against that of what "most gamers" value then it seems to me most are getting a mor...
In an era where review scores hold significantly less sway on customers' purchasing decisions, let's ease off the David Cage levels of melodrama here.
And if Qt3 is recognized as "clickbait trash" by most people, whose livelihoods is it actually affecting? The site is no more promoted than any other on here: clicks & comments driving up the heat.
@BiggerBoss
-'The author may not have liked the game, but that doesn't make it a "disappointment". 9;
The author was letdown by this remake to one of his favorite game franchises of all time. How does that word not qualify here from his/her perspective?
"However, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Star Wars licensing contract has been shortened."
But that would've been known to the public by now were this the case (via quarterly shareholder meetings). Disney shortening a previously-signed 10-year deal would not remain unknown for a long expanse of time.
The list of Quarter to Three officially-written reviews has been very PC-heavy during this year. But Tom Chick (or guest reviewers) do own a PS4 and Switch.
Ok...so this is a very late response. Let's just say it took a few days to reply after facepalming from recognizing where you get the "worst writer in videogames" line from. :P
Anyways...
-"Whether Cage is a good writer or not is really moot to the veracity of the civil rights allegory being discussed."
I'm not so sure about this. In the context of this video and the article's description, it makes sen...
Okay. I feel really stupid b/c I'm not sure where that specific quote falls into the timeline. I only bothered to re-watch the beginning and end of the video and I didn't catch it there.
-"I know it's an opinion, but there is a difference between someone thinking he's a bad writer, and not understanding exactly what he's not good at in writing, all while disregarding the things he does right. "
But that's the thing, isn...
-Having improvised scenes (perhaps a couple minutes worth) is not the same as having actors do improv for the majority of their work (potentially hours worth) like the video is arguing. Having said that, I don't know just HOW MUCH improv we're talking here either so perhaps his point is overblown.
-That's not it works. Having a game bespattered with references to the Civil Rights Movement isn't just washed over by the game saying said downtrodden class are...
I mean...c'mon. For one, I didn't notice him SPECIFICALLY call him "worst video game author" and he made a comparison to other popular hacks across other mediums. Were that the case: are we really going to play this kind of game to disregard someone's argument? It's obvious such denigrating terms are fitted for popular figures in whichever industry we're talking about. To use his example: no one's going to roll their eyes at me for crapping on Chuck Lorre...

The closing credits literally say "Written & Directed by David Cage" so...he's not really wrong to point a finger at him.
"Damn fine game and quite possibly a new bar for narrative driven games!"
Stop smoking fat ones.
@NewMonday
-What are you talking about? My "Oh if..." rebuttal is taking the inverse of what you just stated previously.
You: "her ridiculous positions and assaults on anyone who disagrees with here feeds the Alt-Right."
Therefore: "...if certain people [such as Sarkeesian] just stayed silent they wouldn't inflame this destructive, opposing ideology." Even if being condescending, that is not an unfa...
By this logic who isn't part of the problem that has some kind of a public platform? This implicates basically any "SJW" channels as well, just b/c certain figureheads of that movement constantly produce response videos to the worst ones. "Oh if certain people just stayed silent they wouldn't inflame this destructive, opposing ideology." Having a more milquetoast composure didn't do much for her when she simply announced the Tropes v. Women In Videogames ser...
I mean...let's not pretend those clips are just devoid of context. He's literally doubled down on his argument of gays should wait to receive equal rights under the law until the country was just more comfortable with it. And, even if in the abstract, trying to tie 'videogame feminism' of Sarkeesian to what some violent alt-righter did in Charlottesville by PLOWING into a group of peaceful protestors is straight-up loony. Who cares if the interviewers just rolled with it? ...
@RedDevils
Criticizing a few David Cage games =/= 'hating' gaming. That's just such an uninspired response.
You know...I was REALLY tempted to respond with something like this a few hours back. :P
One of my favorite surprises of the year thus far.
The purchaser for most of their IP's at auction was Nordic Games, later renamed to THQ Nordic.
