It's a fun little game. And it's free! :D
Do you have any kind of link for what you're describing? B/c there's two things I want to address:
-Speaking as someone who purchased it years ago, I can vouch for there being little info tampering on that steam page. Heck, the most deceptive thing I see there is the "There's No Puzzles" part of the description, ironically making it sound less 'game-y' than it actually is.
-I guess it depends on the context of their deceptivene...
"What was advertised as being some potential horror game turned out to be the complete opposite in this walking simulator."
Except it's not being advertised like that at all.

So...yeah I'm still a bit behind in giving my overall impressions of the series. I've been sidetracked (writing wise) by a couple of bad games (a AAA and indie title) I've been really interested in discussing here, along with IRL stuff and whatever else. The silver lining here would be just how well this matches up with Life Is Strange's upcoming retail relea...
It's simply not garnering the amount of heat (comments, clicks, etc.) required to get on the front-page headlines.
Well, I think you're limiting too much by saying it's just a confused lesbian teenage journal. That's the main core but there's the parents' marriage dynamics and the father's multiple issues caught up with his writing and his uncle's dark past, but much of that is kept to environmental queues.
"The best part of the game was the first fifteen minutes when it establishes a somewhat foreboding tone, but then you figure out that...nope." ...
Considering the norms for game stories only a few years ago, I'm quite surprised to see that unimpressed response to one of the few down-to-earth stories of its kind. While I can't disregard the possibility of the "hyper-liberal era" playing an influence, who's to say that kind of unexpected narrative played a part as well?
That's probably one of the best ways of describing the experience.
It's one of the most obvious in "course correcting" some of your key decisions in a TT game and leaves so many unanswered plot threads for the next season.
While I too am happy for fans of such a cult classic getting a follow-up, the thing that doesn't make me want to bother with crowd-funding here is the infrastructure they've put it under.
When you go through the fine print, what's in there is quite worrisome for those ponying up the early dough.
"After the horrible and nit-picking, negative reviews of Killzone 2/3, and how epic in every way they are as first person shooters..."
? The majority of reviewers enjoyed KZ2. That has something like a 90 on metacritic. And as much as I enjoy KZ2, let's not go overboard about it. The campaign isn't exactly something to go down as legendary (even if still a fine one).
"Were reviews ever there to necessarily be trust worthy? I just thought they were another persons perspective on a said game, and nothing more."
In an ideal world, how game reviews are treated would be closer to something like this. But considering how many USERS (fanboys or otherwise) bleat on about industry awards, metacritic averages, etc., it's not surprising to see it plays a considerable role in marketing a game and the current game community dynamic. An...
Well OBVIOUSLY they were wearing Kevlar tank-tops. ;)
That's the thing that has me interested to see where this leads: the dearth of Mech games on Xbox since the beginning of 360's cycle has been a niche that ought to be filled. Let's not talk about that Kinect game either. Many praised OG Xbox's MechWarrior and this could be the chance to see some full-on Action RPG.
Funny thing is, I've probably played a few old BattleTech games back in the day but never knew about the series until this video:
We're already off to playing Release Date Shuffle thanks to Scalebound. #whydotheydothistome?
:'(
A lot of interesting titles I haven't heard of before. Only one that rigs a bell would be Telepath Tactics, which was featured during Indie Month.
The dog HAS to fight in space this time, IW.
It's baffling how a AAA game so focused on story (with nearly 50% of it dedicated to cutscenes + QTE's sometimes) could stumble in so many different directions.
Well, it's coming from a biased source in this case because he's given special thanks in the credits. Just something to keep in mind.
Eh, it was an interesting experience but really doesn't flesh out its story properly. Coming from someone who really enjoyed Gone Home and doesn't have a tight game budget, I'm really surprised they tried to sell it at the non-sale price of ~$8.
"Gone Home can be beat in 25 secs. That shows straight poor game design."
Yeah...if you select the OPTIONAL cheats for it in the menu. That's not how it is by default.
"If it wasn't for the over 350 submissions, this would have been so much easier to finish."
That many haikus?!?!
That's quite the competition
Congrats to winners
:P
