I get that, Luke. And I appreciate you bringing that perspective up here. It's just that when you brought up the "...exasperated by 60$..." part I felt the need to expand on the appalling value criticism I made and how I try to evaluate each game.
Well, that does it for me as far as comments go here. If anyone else decides to post something I may just respond back with a PM. I'm actually quite surprised at the general reception of the comment section her...
"I can see the flaws, but those flaws are only exasperated by 60$, in canada 75$, initial price tag."
One important thing you should understand about my reviews is I attempt to universally judge by what the developer and/or publisher believe their work to be initially worth. From DLC, indie games, etc., I try to keep a mindset of looking at the non-sale price and going from there. Now, there's certainly some games I really, really like who's base value doe...
"The challenge comes from finding the will to replay the whole game (purely for the trophies)."
I can't really blame you there. Even before getting far into it I was thinking in the back of my head whether or not I should try to make this my first platinum trophy, hoping to pick up every collectible. I gave up on those hopes altogether as I was rounding the final turn. Maybe my friend/PS4 co-owner will give it a whirl when given the chance but I doubt he'...
It's tough to keep track after he stops counting but I think you're right. Pretty solid list, I'd say. Battlefield Hardline was such a mess. I couldn't even push myself to finish that campaign.
So far, I'd put Alone In The Dark: Illumination as #1 turd. Even with lowered settings, the fps was so inconsistent I started to feel nauseous. It's games like THAT in which I'm thankful for steam's refund policy.
@your reply
It's your call, moe. But...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed at your reasoning. Considering some of the comments below your own, there are some that've expressed liking the game while also understanding my side of the argument. It seems like replies of agreement OR disagreement can happen here. Plus, it seems like no one's been bothered by fanboys yet.
But if you'd like to continue a dialogue via PM that'...
That's a good question to ask but my answer comes with some caveats.
If I were to review another PS4 exclusive I've recently played, I'd be more willing to give a 10/10 to Everybody's Gone To The Rapture. Complemented with its artistic touches, it legitimately looks like some old English village. Granted, there's not much going on in the background but The Chinese Room really puts CryEngine to great use there.
If focusing more on somethi...
Well...4 hour shooter if disregarding the cutscenes (just to make that caveat). It's befuddling to me too, but at the end of the day people are going to like what they like. And I'm cool with that. Plurality of opinion is typically when discussions get really interesting. I also have my games I really enjoy more than the average N4G user (with past reviews explaining my feelings in detail).
What really gets to me is when that defense starts taking an ugly turn tow...
@TimelessDbz
That's...quite interesting. I'm glad you were able to really enjoy it.
And I'm glad you decided to drop by, check out the review, and share your thoughts. Thanks for your kind words on the review.
I'd probably feel the same even at that price. Sadly, I actually put out more for a CE since it was on sale. I figured why not, you know? Discounted price for one on amazon, had a good amount of gift card $ in account, and I like collecting some kind of special edition--when it's reasonable.
Now? I literally feel bad for paying much less for Bloodborne around the same time. It sounds stupid but knowing more money went towards that, even if some special edition, j...
Well I couldn't disagree more to your disagreement! :P
Honestly, I do hope you enjoyed the read anyways. And considering the times people have tried wand-having harsh criticisms about the game ( http://n4g.com/news/1834272... ) hopefully you can at least understand where I'm coming from. I'm not dogging it to be "hip" or anything; instea...
This might be the first game (or game episode) we've both played where our scores are extremely close to one another. I just find that funny. :)
A solid, digestible review without revealing too much of what's going on. It's interesting to see former TellTale members going off into different teams and building on TT's choice-based dialogue system.
I remember previewing this for last year's Indie Month. Definitely has potential to be a fun platformer.
Hope everyone enjoyed the review. Please feel free to leave any comments and/or questions below. :)
I'm anticipating someone bothered with the score to bring up how the averaging of those four scores doesn't align, despite the "not an average" posted right by the overall score. Here's the thing: I don't care if any game turns out to have Star Citizen's visual fidelity if I rarely feel engaged during the experience. I'm not the type that m...
No. Other old games within that collection aren't under MS trademark.
That's just too cool. I appreciate these devs putting in the extra effort in making these separate console versions feel different from one another, even if just on a cosmetic level.
@rainslacker
"So didn't you just prove his point? It was hyped up by the media, but the players didn't see the appeal?"
If you read his first comment, absolutely not. I refuted it. And let's just be clear as to what johndoe stated, not the interpretation you put on it:
"Unsuspecting gamers bought it based on the stellar reviews, then most of them got severely disappointed when they realized just how much tripe the...
I think you and I both know anonymous metacritic users is the LAST place you'd want to go to confirm anything about gamers in general.
A nice narrative to spin, except for that whole "severly disappointed" part that isn't reality.

Mostly Positive reviews from the likes of steam's userbase, for example.
Thanks. I heard I did pretty good in the third-party polling system.
Also, the 1st line is 4 and 2nd line is 8 syllables. :P
I tried doing it on my own 1/2 hour ago through amazon and couldn't spot it either. But the source is really handy since it has the proper link.
