Agreed on all but music, the music was crap. Aside from remixes of old metroid tunes it had the most generic music ive ever heard in a nintendo game.
This is good because i tend to be more, shall we say, impulsive with my purchases on the 20th
Any links to where you can see these people exposed as hypocrites? Or is this nebulous group just wholly responsible since everyone is too lazy to point ONE out.
The generalizations on N4G are great.
@Feel-Fro
And direct it at the media they did. Positive review vs negative...

Metacritic flip floppers have been around for years. How anyone can consider an amalgamation of often arbitary reviews to be a measure of anything is beyond me. These guys just pull numbers out of nowhere. They just whoop out a non averaged "8.4" or something. Then you have the people who never go below a 4 versus the ones who use the full 1-10 scale.
Rounding to .5 is better (its what i do when i review anything on N4G) but the numerical system as a whole is flawed...
Fi was a fail. They tried for a more deadpan almost Glados-like personality but then they forgot the funny. She basically just threw tutorials at you 24/7.
I dont think Star Ocean has been big for a while. Especially since the last one was exclusive to the 360, which flopped in Japan.
Gears has much more condensed maps so i can see it being possible. I wouldnt mind 900p 60 fps though. As long as it still feels like Gears.
I appreciate the devs this gen shooting for 60 fps in multiplayer though.
To answer your other comment, you can indeed use a pro controller to play most games.
It's honestly my favorite controller this gen with a rechargeable battery life of about 60 hours and it's very easy to adjust to, especially if you're coming from the 360.
The irony is Lost Odyssey was a 360 exclusive and was more true to the FF series than any of the XIII games. Even had Sakaguchi (the series creator) directing it.
There is no need to blame the 360 on XIII's crappiness.
I wouldve said the same thing but ive just become so jaded seeing every promise of a "next gen experience" or even just a decent game fall on its face. The Division, Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Order, and the list just keeps growing.
I hope i will get some enjoyment out of QB but i think its fair enough to say the shooting isn't as solid as Max Payne 1 and 2 felt in their day and the story isn't as good as Alan Wake (which saved its repetitive gameplay).
Quantum Break and SFV had my hopes up for a solid first quarter but both seem to disappoint (i might end up liking QB, but i know it isn't up to Remedy's standard). SFV feels same-y and launched incomplete and QB is just an average shooter with some cool twists.
As for Nintendo, im still waiting on Star Fox :/
Totally agree about Prime 1. Great graphics with beautiful and varied environments, 60 fps, and no loading screens at all.
Well GTA V has more variety, but it also came out 3 years later so i dont think its entirely fair to compare. They could add awesome things to a new Red Dead game. Hell GTA V took a lot from that game.
I just like the gun play of RDR more. The lack of automatic weapons or rocket launchers put an emphasis on headshots and the skill barrier was dense. It was a very unique online experience between the hunting, challenges, gold gun rewards, posses, etc.
But to ...
Rockstar might be making Red Dead 3 first (which i would prefer)
They've been spending around this much for a couple years actually. People get so antsy whenever one of these companies mentions the future (especially when their current console is not successful) but these R&D guys aren't just sitting on their hands all gen.
I cringe to think how much was wasted on the QOL projects which seems to have been discarded.
Isnt it sad that 2.5 years in we are still "just getting started" though? I remember when consoles launched complete and games complete too. Hell first YEAR of the PS2 we got SH2, FFX, MGS 2, Devil May Cry, Jak and Daxter, GTA 3, Ico...
All games that revolutionized the industry. DMC and GTA III basically invented entirely new genres previously impossible on old hardware.
2.5 years later we dont have much that compares on PS4 or any console at that....
Its the problem with calling anything the greatest of all time. Do we judge it on its quality for the time or today? Sonic Adventure has like a 90% on metacritic from 1999 and now it is a laughing stock. Do we judge it for its innovation/impact (for which OoT has a solid case) or do we pit it up against games of today with no leeway?
This is why there's no correct answer...
I have been sorely disappointed by the 8th gen and the Xbone and PS4 are already almost halfway through their lifespans. 2.5 years in and we're still getting HD remakes and half finished IOU's like SFV.
I had a lot of issues with the Wii U but Nintendo has managed to keep my hopes up by at least releasing quality, complete products. Truthfully NX is what will make or break my future in gaming.
too late ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
What you're left with is SF4 ;)
