There was also more powerful consoles than the SNES that didn't beat it. The Atari Jaguar and Neo-Geo
I don't get it, do people want 1080p 60 fps or no? If it was 900p 60 fps or 1080p 30 fps we'd never hear the end of it.
This looks way better than that leak. If this is 1080p 60 fps im honestly kind of amazed.
The thing with the DC is it had a leg-up because of all the arcade ports it could get due to it sharing the same architecture. Also the fact that it was the first console to really go for a PC-friendly design allowed it to get those as well. Half Life 1 and System Shock 2 were slated to come to the DC (the former you can rip online actually).
@superchiller
I knew you were trolling after that biased first sentence, but i'll name some more similarities for other people who read this.
I could put Xenoblade Chronicles X which honestly reminds me of PS1-era and DC-era JRPG's brought into the modern age. Particularly Phantasy Star Online.
Pikmin 3 is basically a quirky RTS, which reminds me of a lot of those weird typically PC-relegated games that got releases on the DC.
I would argue none of the 8th gen consoles have.
I can see the case for the Wii U due to the vibrant, colorful games it has and the amount of highly inventive, unique experiences. Thats what the DC was all about.
You wont see games like TW101, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, or Star Fox Zero elsewhere, thats for sure.
Honestly thought we were back in the 90's, that was the last time i even heard the word satanic
Why are people disagreeing with KingCosmic?
6th gen: 155+22+24+10 million consoles is 211 million consoles
7th gen: 100+85(?)+84(?) million consoles is around 269 million consoles
Of course the market is bigger. Still makes outselling the PS2 impressive.
Is n4g really this dumb to not see the sarcasm.
What should i expect coming into any article comparing power though.
Your numbers are kind of off, as Halo 5 has over 3.5 million. Not sure about Sony's bestselling game.
But you're right about attach ratio. It's crazy that Nintendo would have any top selling games on a system with 13 million users, but they have many.
People have been trying to convince me for months now that the xbone is still at 18 million.
Sure this is an estimate, but its an estimate from 4 months ago, so safe to say it is at least well past this number in those 4 months.
Spyro i agree with but Crash was super fun and really original next to all the Mario 64 copycats
@pcz
You mean like he delayed Pikmin 3? That game that no one was complaining about in the first place and was also nearly finished? Was that for audience feedback? No, Miyamoto is just a perfectionist.
Also, what about all the negative feedback going into AC: Amiibo Festival and Metroid: FF? If you look at the initial Star Fox reveal, it has like 20% dislikes compared to 90% for those two games.
So, I'm just looking at the pattern here. ...
@pcz
That is an assumption. This is a Miyamoto produced game, which are often delayed. Look at Metroid Prime or Pikmin 3 for examples. No one was bitching about Pikmin 3, it got delayed almost a year for the multiplayer mode and extra polish.
Actually, I pointed out hyperbole. You said:
"It's been delayed three times. The last time was for 2 WEEKS."
What do you call this? I call it defending three delays. The fact that you accuse me or the writer of having an agenda is hyperbolic in and of itself.
Its irrefutable that UC4 will be better for the delays... it's just an increasingly annoying problem within the industry that we can't trust a release date anymore....
Maybe the statement was a bit hyperbolic but is 3 delays really something to defend? Delays didn't used to happen this often... maybe they should just stop giving release dates so damn early.
This is what i've been saying for a while, the Wii U is spitting out 120 frames at once between the two screens. All things considered, this is a technical marvel. Its a shame that one has to look deeper to see the effort put into it, because so many accused Nintendo of laziness with this game.
You can call Nintendo many things, but laziness is not one of them, and this game is no exception.
@Rufus
It's moments like these that I miss Jack Johnson. Good ol Jack.
This crap still doesn't belong on N4G imo. She's been fired - who cares what she did at this point.
I honestly think the whole Zelda timeline is total BS anyway. I wouldn't care if they included a female link. As far as I'm concerned they are stand alone games.
I know Nintendo promotes the timeline but it seems more like a background thing. They make like 1-2 references per game and even then it seems like a stretch.
If you look at their recent games you can already see this taking place. Splatoon was made by a team of just 40, and they've partnered with Bandai and Platinum to get some of their recent titles out quicker.
