They love arcade, bullet hell games, look at vanquish and you can see the inspiration. Kamiya in particular has payed homage to space harrier, afterburner, etc.
Theyre literally the best in terms of third parties to make a star fox game.

Oops, excuse my flub. I meant to say its unfair to conpare a bundled game to a non bundled one. There was literally no other ps4 at the japanese launch other than the one bundled with Knack, so why would it be fair to compare a game standing on its own than one that everyone in Japan HAD to buy if they wanted a ps4. You think that's fair? Is you bringing up a completely different (and fair) comparison proof that you don't, but just don't care to admit it?

So? The lesser selling console still had a higjer attach ratio, to the point where it eclipsed the one that sold millions more. And what does exclusive games have to do with this? If they mattered wouldn't the ps3 have better software sales, far better. Because i dont have an exclusive, i'll buy 2 games rather than one?

While that's true, its not really an advisable thing for the company to do. A large portion of their profits come from selling hardware (although at the moment that is not the case, but every company has ups and downs). In sega's case they were losing money on hardware consistently. Nintendo would be billions down if they hadnt released consoles and instead made games. Theres a distinct problem with the 3rd party support they have been buying too.
Like with the gamecube there was stuff like Resident Evil, Metal Gear, and Star Wars which are all big established franchises. Now were seeing just absolute niche. Like the Fatal Frame games sell 150k on average worldwide. And im sooooo glad to see Bayonetta 2 and Fatal Frame, but that stuff isn't gonna move s*** in the west. That's what you release after you sell a lot of units.

Exactly. They've been boasting about Nintendo Network's success and high userbase, and pushing Mario Kart 8 and Smash's online lately, so we may yet see them utilize online more.
Even just being able to play Mario Kart 64 or Melee online would be a huuuge deal. People would be dumping their nostalgia money.

I thought that number seemed almost TOO low given all that's coming out this year. Either they know they won't be getting as many games out this year as they say, or they're being conservative with the numbers in hopes that the comparatively decent numbers (say 4.5 million or something) look comparatively decent.
They confirmed there wouldnt be any at e3, they always have new hardware in development.
i dont believe its for game centric hardware. The 3ds is way too big (and young) to drop and they dont seem to have plans on abandoning the wii u. If they launched a new system the cycle would basically start all over lol, probably even worse lol. They have a hard enough time supporting their current 2 platforms.

I agree with you mostly, but nintendo failing to reach handheld demands is hardly comparable to Sony's plight with the Vita. I mean at least Nintendo is still raking in a lot of money with the 3ds, and the system is in a good position.
And that 100 million investment was the difference between profit and loss, so i doubt it was just to give a superficial appearance, it had to be pretty important.
