I think its release is at a perfect time to sort of "condition" people and remind them the fun of nintendo games. That would only make the e3 that much more appealing.
Like last year Nintendo's e3 reveals were great, but we had nothing but months of doom and gloom and seeing "2014" as a date for everything was discouraging.
What was wrong with the 360 reveal...? How did anything they say threaten the future of gaming? I can understand that with the xbone but i think the 360 is a damn fine console that could've been even better if MS didnt twist its future around 2010.
Both the original Xbox and 360 were good systems (i'd argue that original Xbox is among the most underrated systems ever), i'm hoping by the end of its life i can look at a solid library on Xbox One too. I'm not get...
"For one, in your list of "Non-Nintendo games" you list the Wonderful 101 which very much falls in line with the types of games people expect from Nintendo, plus you mention X which is made by a Nintendo owned studio."
Wow, you didnt play W101 and clearly assumed it was a kid's game. Nice one, bro.

@karl
So them getting rid of the things that made it a shit console is a bad thing? I dont care about DRM or kinect, i want a gaming machine and thats what they managed to turn it into in less than a year. I'll take that and give them props, not spin it like "now no one will support kinect" or "now it has no identity"...
@Blue
Well then its just that... a CUT of the sales. On their own hardware they make back 100% of the sales (except for whatever it is the retailer gets). No matter how you put it they aren't making more money. I don't even need to just say that you have a selfish mindset, because you said it yourself when you said "i prefer to stick to one console." Sorry to your friends, but that's how the world works. You either buy the absolute cheapest console this ...
@Blue
The problem is he thinks releasing OLD games on other platforms is a good tactic to sell NEW hardware. He also proposes the idea of nintendo becoming software only, but like i said, the money to be made there is not as big as it seems. The main reason being they would stop making revenue from hardware which is a much bigger portion of profit for them compared to MS or Sony. Add in the slower development cycle across multiple platforms and the cost of porting and you are...
It is easy for people to disparage and hate what they dont ever plan on buying. Helps them justify their investment in something else. In the end every console this gen has something to offer.
Did you read my rebuttal of that point? The attach ratio of the series has only gone up over the past twenty years. Also you say "not a lot of wii u's in the wild" but we don't know if that'll always be the case. The number they projected was smashed in 3 days because their guesstimate made no sense. Polygon averages all platforms (including HANDHELDS, whose attach ratio is irrelevant to the wii u). But really, the only important thing to note is the attach ratio.
@gamerfan
It isn't so much that i find them biased... just that they have a lot of very poor writers. A lot of their reviews are very inarticulate and seem more of a pretentious showcase of middling vocabulary than a comprehensive review. This is especially the case with TLOU, which is honestly the worst review i've ever read from a major site, and that's not because of the score.
I mean an opinion such as the one on the topic of this blog is not...
750,000 for that circlejerk actually :P
Like they even needed that much. Ive seen great movies with half that budget.
Who will be there to make us understand?
One reason is the cross contamination of the fanbases (the xbox fans that switched to ps4) but also the fact that ps4 runs most games better. Those that own both systems will probably go for ps4 version.
lol thats pretty much the smash bros one
@Lukas
Lol why are you always wasting time on people like truefan and georgeenoob?
I wonder if this website would be a cesspool of trolls if people didnt have uber serious, 10 minute posts to feed them with.
Disagree, bubble down and move on.
....Wtf kind of article is this? The title implies it failed to surpass either console in hardware sales, then they don't bring up any hardware sales and point towards software.
@foxtrot and summons
You can. Im not sure how though, its really finicky. Sometimes it works for me sometimes it doesnt. The map is on the gamepad or not there at all, but to be honest its not useful like the local area map in mk7 and DS where you could see stuff coming at you. It just shows where everyone is on the entire map at once.
Just because they don't have as big a presence doesnt mean they don't have games to show. They might not be ready to show them in playable form just yet.
Also sony has a lot on their plate, they have ps4, ps3, vita, and likely morpheus stuff to show whereas MS has pretty much ditched 360 and probably only habe xbone stuff to show.
In the end it got the recognition it deserved :)
Yeah but were not sure if they count zelda or fatal frame (sort of announced games). That would make 6, potentially.
You have to be an absolute imbecile to think anyone of these big companies cares what "place" they end up in. I bet MS is thrilled with the 360, just like Sega was with the Genesis. They both started off small and took huge marketshare from the industry leader. When the difference is like 2 million anyway, what's the point of "places"?
Oh yeah, original xbox outsold gamecube by 2 million. Guess that number doesn't matter when it doesn't benefi...
