the next generation (following ps4/720) will be hand-held devices that can plug into a tv and still be in 1080p or higher.
chances are in 10 years or so, MS will probably incorporate everything into a windows phone and have everything in one device. apple will likely go this route as well (if they aren't already)

look at this current generation. by your logic (or lack there of), the wii is automatically more powerful than an original xbox. well, it's not. and the wii came 5 years later.

saying that wii u's first party titles weren't impressive is the understatement of the year.
there were downright disappointing. nintendo started this current generation a generation behind. looks like they are kicking off the next generation even more than a generation behind.
in fact, it's not even fair to say they are starting the next generation. if anything, they are finally entering the current gen...sorta.
i kinda of agree; but with RE4, capcom sort of painted themselves into a corner. they went towards action and let the story escalate. at this point, they really have no choice but to go over the top (while they're in the main series 1, 2, 3, 4...).
i think they could still do throw backs as side stories; but as far as the main story goes, i think our expectations need to change. we need to start judging the game based on the quality of the action, atmosphere and set ...

it looks an awful lot like uncharted. not saying that's a bad thing, but it's definitely not a generational leap. even shane satterfield, who is a definitely a bigger fan of ps3 than 360, said some of the audience during the sony conference were being so ridiculous and over the top that he was convinced they were paid to be there. i say, all he needs to do is spend 5 minutes looking at the comments on n4g.
Original means that it is the origin of something. The beginning. Since zombie games aren't original, resource management isn't original, cover based shooting isn't original, and the combination of all 3 isn't even original, how can Last of Us be original?
