- Run every application under the sun, except mac.
- play games as well, but probably better than any console

Wow it looks like there are quite a number of ps3 fat owners that are disgruntled enough to say they would join in a class action against SOny over removal of ps3 features after the point of sale.
Consumers certainly are a savvy bunch and they don't like to get screwed, yet screwed they did get by this feature removal!
This one is going to be very interesting!

AS a ps3 slim owner, I can't say this affects me, as the linux capability was removed prior to this, but if I had a fat ps3, I'd be verily miffed about this.
I feel a class-action against SOny is warranted.
After all, people paid $399+ for a ps3 with advertised features (including alt OS) and now they are taking features away that consumers have already paid for.
First it was removal of backwards compatibility, now it's removal of Linux.. what's next? <...

Some ps3 fans are getting so verbally abusive and angry toward George Hotz, that i fear for their mental health. Some of the ps3 fans are even threatening George Hotz with physical violence!
Maybe some anger management therapy is in order for them?

GOW3 may actually be a good reason for me to dust off my ps3, as it has been sitting unused for quite a while now.
Originally I had some gaming on MAGplanned for it, however that fizzled soon enough, due to average reviews. Heavy Rain just didn't interest me. So yeah, the ps3 has been exclusively a bluray player of late, for me, and likely many others.
With GOW3 that will change soon enough.

I don't understand this debate
UC2 has a completely different artistic style, which relies very heavily on a cartoony, colourful element. This it has done in an exemplary and fabulous way.
Alan Wake is seems to be rendering environments and scenery that are altogether more realistic and dark. The effect of light, dark and fog seems to be used as much as the effect of colour is used in UC2.
Both games look great, but they also look different.

It looks like the 480/470 is a bit faster and has a few extra features.
It is also MUCH:
- louder
- hotter
- power hungry
- expensive

Well, to be honest, I am also a massive ps3 fanboy.
Leading multiplats on ps3 hasn't made any difference in the past.
Most of the ones hat were led on ps3 still looked the same or better on the 360.
Witness Ghostbusters, for eg.
Thus the trend of inferior multiplats, which people said had finished in 2007, seems to continue to this day.
Not to worry, just like you guys, my ps3 allegiance is also unshakeable!
mass effect2 is an awesome user experience, however it does not have the mass appeal that Halo3 has. Just consider how many copies of Halo3 were sold vs how many copies of ME2 were sold.
IN my old age, I actually prefer ME2, however, a game that wins GOTY will also need to be one that achieves massive market penetration.
Ergo: Halo reach.
