Killer Instinct is an unfinished product, and it's a shame, but it's not the developer fault but Microsoft's. They rushed them out at launch. The developers have done an excellent job with the very short time they've had. The game is going to become great in a few months. They have already talked about adding much more characters, story mode, ultimates and stage KOs. Maybe not all will get actually released, but if the game is successful, they could either continue updating it...
I think they fixed that a little bit with the last update. They changed the rank system so that you get point even if you lose or win against a lower rank. Also, if you win by ultra you still get points even if they reagequit.
I think that the comparison with the 3DS situation is not valid. The 3DS has always had support from third and first party and the only thing that stopped it from being successful was the price. Sony managed to create the perception that the 3DS was expensive when the PS Vita had all those features at the same price. As evident by the sales, once Nintendo lowered the price, the 3DS flew off the shelves.
The Wii U is way different. It does not have third party support. First ...
If they are indeed making it, then I hope it's Barlog's team. He made the best GOW in my opinion. GOW was the best because it was the longer game, had more variety and overall was more epic.
GOW was great but it was the beginning, and GOW 3 had epic moments, but not the entire game was epic.
Money talks, sadly.
I lost respect of Insomniac, not because they are developing for Xbox, but because when they went multi platform they said that they would NEVER go exclusive again (reason they went multi platform). They supposedly wanted to get more gamers to play their games, so they had to leave Sony's exclusive deal. We now know that was a lie and they got greedy.
That's exactly what happened to Square Enix at the beginning of last generation...
They could have funded 1 or 2 new IPs with that money. I am unsure how relevant Gears of War still is, but I don't think the franchise, unlike Halo, will be a success in the long run. Microsoft will have to make a great game in order to reignite interest from fans to make the purchase worth it, and even then, how are they going to keep making sequels? If Microsoft is planning to make it a yearly series, they will milk it to the ground.
I hope Microsoft knows what they are...
A new battletoads would be awesome! but it should be done with 2D sprites and not 3D. I think that with 3D it would lose its charm and characteristic animations.
I agree about the Xbox being behind, but if Microsoft drops the price and/or offers a SKU without Kinect, then it could actually be a trivial margin. However, it will also depend on which games Sony and MS releases, and how much third party support each one gets. Which right now, PS4 is benefitting from better versions, but Microsoft has actual 3rd party exclusives (Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, etc).
I'm just waiting for Microsoft to release an SKU without Kinect. I know it will happen, but I'm hoping to be soon, although it will definitely be until 2015. They will most likely drop the price to $349 or $399 without Kinect, but still offer the $499 Kinect SKU.
That's when things will turn for the Xbox.
I think I know how this game will go: The first game will be praised for its survival terror aspect. It will not sell as well, but enough to guarantee a sequel. The sequel will improve things while retaining the survival aspect. Then the developers will make a third game that will be a COD clone and lose any survival horror in place for an action shooter with cliche moments.
Yep, sound about right.
PS Now will never end consoles. It will complement them, and even if other companies start doing it like Nintendo, Apple or Google, they will not release new games for the service. Those will be reserved for consoles and PC, because that's a profitable business, and they will not kill it.
You don't see movies going straight to Netflix and be exclusive to it. There will be games exclusive to PS Now, but the smaller kind, never a AAA game.
Star Fox 64 is exactly what Starfox series needs to be. Nintendo should improve upon that, and without changing anything.
The PS4 is selling more, but the price of the Xbox One is definitely not an issue, otherwise it wouldn't have sold 3 millions already.
But then why would they announce KH 3 for Xbox. It doesn't make sense. They have to do something so that people with Xbox can know the story. Otherwise, it would have been just a dirty deal from Microsoft just to make Sony not have the exclusive.
Obviously Microsoft will get the collection. I actually think that there will be a re-release of KH 1.5 and KH 2.5 on PS4 and Xbox One. If not, the Xbox One will get it at least digitally.
Microsoft won't allow to have KH 3 without releasing the entire collection, and if Spencer is already signing a petition, he might be in talks with Square Enix. So unless there is an exclusivity deal with Sony (which with Square Enix never matters) it will definitely come to the Xbox. ...
I am a PS fan, and as much as I want the PS4 to sell 5x the Xbox One, it will never happen. This time around is going to be as close as ever. The PS4 might have the lead for some time, but the Xbox will eventually catch up, and they'll be very close since then.
If the Xbox was really at a disadvantage, it would be selling Wii U numbers, but that is not the case. The fact that it's already at aprox 3 million worldwide, indicates that both companies will have to really ...
Exactly...
Netflix hasn't killed Movie Theaters. Hasn't killed Blu Rays, TV broadcasts, etc. Why would PS Now kill consoles? It's just another OPTION for people to play games. Also, the service is for OLD games, not new. So it's actually more like how Movies go from theater, to DVD/BR.
yet they missed the opportunity to add fire emblem awakening characters in the game
I don't know about Sony, but Microsoft has always given the numbers of units sold TO RETAILERS, not consumers.
I don't like this! Like I wrote in a comment earlier, Nintendo used to take a lot of care of its franchises. They used to take 5 years to make them and they were of the highest quality. Just look at the newly announced Zelda from Koei, it won't be a good game. It will be fun and interesting, but definitely not in the level of quality.
I understand that Nintendo is doing it because they have to rush games into market so that the Wii U has games, but I would prefer if ...
