This is old school, side-scrolling action modernised for HD and it looks fantastic. XBLA is finally pushing out some half decent titles, what with Mutant Storm: Empire just a couple of weeks back and now this. I just wish they could maintain these sorts of standards and stop releasing crap like "Word Puzzle".
...if the poster sizes were the same and if they are on the same type of paper. Wow...this is so cool!!!!
Actually, no its not. Whoever posted and approved this should have their privelges for doing so again removed. What utter bullsh*t.
You can't buy electronics off Amazon in New Zealand. Once again living at the ass end of the world means you miss out.
...Gears of War, Like Halo 3, did not sit well with me in terms of on-line play. GOW was laggy as hell if you didn't have a top notch connection. I hate the physics with Halo 3 - all that jumping and jumping....and jumping.
COD4 is in one word...brilliant. It will be in the top 5 on-line games for the 360 for a long time yet.
...at least you got the point of the article without having to spend next-gen prices reading it.
Console games are now suffering from the same patch mentality that has been so prevalent on the PC. Mind you, who says their will be a patch. Look at Lair, that game screams for a patch to offer a normal control scheme and yet its nowhere to be seen.
Obviously games are much more complex than they were 10 years ago but will things get better or worse the more they try to exploite the hardware? Lets face it, there is only so long a game can stay in development before its pro...
First off - fantastic deal but really, I would much prefer 2 or 3 bundled games. It is a games console after all....isn't it???
Sony need to fix their identity crises. The PS3 is a powerhouse of a console being sold under the guise of being a cheap Blu-Ray player. The latest ads showing in New Zealand do nothing to fix this either. Some homosexual magician stuffing a dog into an oversized washing machine only for it to emerge into an ugly, puffy poodle. Then comes up the m...
The 20GB 360 model is hardly big enough to store more than 2 or 3 last gen Xbox games. Furthermore, you can buy them cheaper on CD...whats the point?
...There are two things that put me off a game no matter how good the gameplay is deemed to be:
1. Noticable drops in framerates.
2. Tearing of graphics.
Both are unacceptable as they remove you from the game. I will at best only rent this game now.
...a games quality/calibre. If a game has both overwelming (I repeat, overwelming) critical acclaim from professional and non-professional sources, and commercial success then it is deemed a AAA title. Games given AAA status are the must play games regardless of the format. COD4 is AAA just like R&C and Gears of War.
Whether you like a game or not has nothing to do with a game being categorised as AAA.
...but that would really make most of the current XBLA titles over priced. How could you charge the same for "Crimson Skies" and "Word Puzzle"?
I wish they would lower the price of XBLA games to 300 and 500 points (depending on their calibre) and then have the price of the classic Xbox titles at 800 or 1000 points, again depending on their calibre.
...The PS3 needed at least 512MB dedicated graphics RAM to exploit Blu-Ray. Whats the point of being able to store all those high-res textures if you can't use them to paint a scene because of memory restrictions. This is why we're seeing so many repeated textures in a single scene in all the graphically rich PS3 titles, e.g. GT5, Killzone 2, etc.
...which they claim is only using 30% of the PS3s SPUs. What kind of development time would be required to be using 75% or 95%?
Just because a system like the PS3 has much untapped potential it does not necessarily mean it will be tapped or at least any time soon because of the associative costs of doing so.
The PS2 was released in 2000...and is still going strong!
Who hit disagree? Sales for PS2 hardware and software are still extremely healthy and the console was released in Japan in 2000.
I wish people would use more than 30% of their brain when using this site.
Nice to see these types of giveaways and it makes you appreciate the quality service that Xbox Live really is. Looking forward to downloading a couple of classic Xbox titles.
Am wondering what other surprises await us in the fall update???
...wait and see what happens this holiday season. I'm not getting either until I can buy all movies on it.
AC no longer looks set to be the AAA to follow up on COD4 however still looks solid enough for at least a rental to see if its worth buying.
...will not get its AAA status.
After reading the 1UP review I can appreciate where the reviewer is coming from however, this is still definately a game I wish to try for myself. Mind you, it will now be a rent before I buy because if the gameplay is not to my liking I'll save my money for one of the other potential AAA titles coming out before Xmas.
This posting lacks answers to several key questions:
- How many Xbox Live users are we talking about?
- What games were they playing and when?
- Who was hosting and where were they based?
- How were their respective ISPs performing at that time?
This posting has been titled and imaged as nothing more than to try shoot down Xbox Live. Whoever approved and posted this story should have such privileges revoked.
...nothing wrong with some good healthy competition else we'd not have seen such price reductions on either console as yet.
I can certainly see Sony having a stellar 2008 but I'm thinking by 2010 Microsoft will have a much greater console gaming market share than it did with the original Xbox.
