I play on Xbox Live and only experience lag when playing when the host is outside of New Zealand or Australia. How would PSN make this any different considering I have to use the same international pipeline regardless of which network I use?
How many PSN gamers from NZ or Australia experience lag when the game is being hosted from the US or England, etc?
...network has no lag and Xbox Live does?
I'm in New Zealand (NZ) and when I play against anyone else in NZ or Australia (AUS) I experience no lag on Xbox Live. When I play against a host who's outside these countries (NZ,AUS) I experience some lag (depending on the time of day).
How will the Playstation network improve this at all as my signal would still need to go via our international connections between NZ and the rest of the world?
...is that they are so darned easy to get through. My 7 year old Son managed to get through the first one the same day we purchased the thing. Luckily our local gaming store had a 7 day right of return or exchange policy.
These games are fun and look great but just too easy and only worth a rental.
...be the first to post a comment thats based on nothing but fanboyism.
The DMC franchise needs a major kick in the pants to give it new life. This unfortnately, whilst it looks better than anything a PS2 could push out, does not look like it will be anything but an HD version of previous DMC games. I just hope they give the AI a major overhaul as taking on big bosses who attack to a predefined set of moves/patterns is old and tired.
...if you have played the game on either console you probably won't give a flying f**k about these COD4 flame wars anymore. You'll be too busy enjoying the game for what it is on your console of choice.
I think we should round up the low lives that approved this story and kick their sorry asses off this site.
...wet dream. I really hope they clamp down on pirates with this new generation (PS3/360). Be great if a modded console is detected on-line that key capabilities of the console are disabled.
When stating opinion as fact either say its your opinion or link to the source of the fact.
What if in 2008 Paramount decides to stay with HD?
What if Warner decide to back HD exclusively as well?
What if studios stop supporting HD formats entirely in favor or a new format or Digital Distribution?
There are simply too many unknowns and whilst consumers are expected to buy two players to ensure they can watch all movies then anyone who buys into ei...
...I love it when fanboys stand on their soapbox and spiel out the same list of games time and time again. If it was all about visuals then the PS2 would have lost last gen. If it was all about visuals then consoles would never gain a foothold on PC gaming. If it was all about visuals then the Wii would not be kicking butt in terms of console sales.
Slightly off topic but if movies were all about visuals then movies like "Independence Day" would win Oscars for bein...
...So how long do you think it would take to create a game that uses 100% of a Blu-Rays capacity without just dumping multiple copies of textures on the disc?
Sure, Blu-ray provides space to grow but you have to keep in mind that it takes a lot longer to develop a game that will use that extra space effectively. Longer development times = higher cost to market = higher RRP.
Also, you jam pack a scene with more textures and suddenly you need more RAM to display i...
...the same is true for Sony exclusive games like Killzone 2 and GT5. Some images I have seen from both of those games you can see the same texture being re-used many times in a single scene - GT5 especially.
Having more space does not necessarily mean the use of more textures. For one thing, having more textures will result in more time required to develop a game. It also means you need more graphics memory to render the increased number of textures in a single scene.
...you better let your friends know that in advance in case they no longer want to come round.
...and it was actually kind of fun - questions were certainly a lot more difficult. The visuals were different enough from the Buzz games on the PS2 to make it feel fresh and new and the speed of moving from question to question seemed a lot faster. Its certainly nice not being constantly interrupted by a sleazy CG host like on Buzz.
As for the controller - hell, what else did people expect. You could say that PS3 stole the idea for the triggers and SIXAXIS on their PS3 cont...
1. Everyone says that wireless is not conducive to getting the best on-line performance for gaming anyway. Also, the 360 comes with an ethernet cable so if you can hard plug it into your home network then you don't need the adapter. Getting wireless out of the box is convenient but not always required. How many PS3 owners prefer to use an ethernet cable to get the best connection possible?
2. AA batteries come included in the box. I for one prefer removable batteries anyw...
...if you have never developed a game for the PS3 than you have no credibility in talking about its abilities. Where does that leave all the PS3 fanboys who have also probably never developed anything on the PS3?
You don't have to have actually done something before you can discuss it. However, I dare say that having expertise in a similar field provides a better starting point for basing an opinion than just someone who has played games.
...don't waste our's or your time with posting comments on a version you don't intend on buying. When we get a posting showing a PC vs PS3 or 360 then by all means comment.
However, if it does not look 100 times better as you proclaim will you still buy it on the PC?
We're discussing COD4 and again someone needs to bring up Killzone 2. Why can't you just be happy that GAMERS are getting a great multiplayer experience in COD4. Or maybe you just sit there and look at your PS3 until Killzone 2 comes out if you think COD4 isn't good enough for you.
...have nothing to do with the $99 HD-DVD deal. And there is only speculation as to how much is actually being lost on each player sold.
Why do people insist on regurgitating speculation as fact to support a cause that aint worth supporting in the first place?
...MS and Toshiba are the only manufacturers guilty of lapses in QA to bring a product to market. At least they didn't release a battery that could have filled the passenger cabin on a plane with smoke like one manufacturer we could mention.
To be honest manufacturers who use consumers to decide which format should prevail is even worse than releasing a sub-standard product. At least a consumer is protected against defects, etc by means of a warranty. What do you think a con...
...why Microsoft. They did not develop the HD-DVD format but do support it. Just like they will support Blu-Ray if thats the winning format.
Microsoft would probably prefer to see digital distribution be the format of choice in the future anyway. And based on latest ADSL developments where current copper lines could support sustained speeds of up to 100mbps then I dare say DD will be a reality for most sooner rather than later.
...add or have anyone in my friends list outside of Australia or New Zealand. Bullet lag in GOW was terrible when I played against a host outside of AUS/NZ. Nothing worse than firing your weapon only to see the bullet leave the gun half a second later - made playing that game impossible.
