...we all know it looks good but lets see some videos that show off the improved AI and physics. Watching replays is only slightly better than watching a cut-scene in terms of getting a feel for what the game is capable of delivering.

Anyone that knows about GT is already sold on GT5 - these videos are like preaching to the converted.

...Sony must be quietly concerned about the lack of traction after two PS3 price cuts over the past 6 months and the introduction of a new 40GB model. Will be interesting to see what happens over Xmas with the release of UTIII and Uncharted.

I have to say I hate this nonsense about 100 million PS2 owners waiting to upgrade to the PS3. Who says they are waiting to upgrade? maybe they already have but to the Wii. I also reckon that most of the 100 million PS2 owners won't be ...

...the ability to playback copy protected songs downloaded onto the Ipod onto the PC or Ipod. Its annoying that it can only see the mp3 files.

Be nice to also get an overhauled media player interface. The one for music playback is tired and lacks some key information when playing back tracks. And what ever happened to the good ole bar spectrum analyser over the display of random patterns!

...surprised about the console versions outselling the PC version. That may change over time however.

I am also surprised about R&C not being in the top 10. Given that its Sony's first genuine AAA title on the PS3 it has fallen pretty quickly. I'm guessing however its not the hardcore game that the majority of current PS3 owners are looking for. Its more child/family friendly so I dare say it will hang around (albeit out of the top 10) for some time to come.

...COD4 will be gracing a hell of a lot more PCs that PS3s. COD has always been received well by the PC gaming community - I understand that COD2 is still one of the most on-line PC played games.

There is no way that Infinity Ward could be expected to invest the same level on servers to support PS3 on-line play as they would for the PC.

...for Infinity Ward (IW) in terms of Xbox Live and PSN. Does IW have more of an incentive to develop for Xbox Live over the free PSN?

I'm not sure however, I dare say getting a PS3 COD4 beta like that released for the 360 would have ensured these problems were dealt with before the game was released.

This to me says that Sony is pulling out of investing money in developing future iterations of the Cell. I certainly did not get the impression that Sony were ditching the 65nm Cell so they could focus on smaller iterations.

Now that Sony has sold its processing plant to Toshiba, where exactly were Sony going to build these smaller Cell chips?

...was hoping for a list of actual updates not speculation or talk about the UK getting video Marketplace. How does the UK getting marketplace impact the content of the fall update anyway? Surely they already have a marketplace component on their dashboard but like here in New Zealand, there's SFA to pick from.

The game is good but certainly not one thats worth paying full price for at next-gen prices.

...the PS3 could do a game like Bioshock with ease however, this is the kind of game has a very limited shelf life. This needed to be released a month after the 360 and PC versions to ensure it received the same sort of attention on the PS3.

There was very little variety in the enemy AI which was average at best. After you have killed your first couple of Big Daddy's they become repetitive. Also, end or mid level bosses all too obviously come on que. The atmosphere of the g...

What I'm saying is that before posting such a comment can you substantiate with something. How many stores are we talking about, how often do you visit them and in what area are they? Also, what number of discs are we talking about being sold and which movies?

If everyone takes their fanboy tinted glasses off for a wee moment, you have to admit that this is some good news for MS and I'm sure they will do their best to spin it that way. However, would anyone bet their house on MS outselling the PS3 in Japan over its lifespan....umm, I'm thinking no.

I don't know what they are planning but something has to happen soon in order for one format or the other to start gaining momentum as I personally don't believe there is room for both. Especially considering you'd need to buy both to watch all Hi-Def movies. Its a crazy situation for consumers to have been pl...

There is still a lot of life left in the PS2 but I hope we don't now only see the release of generic titles that all use the same game engine like we did during the last days of the PS1.

Good point about draw distances. Lets face it - to excel in one area consoles (and PCs) have to make a sacrifice in another area. If you want huge draw distances then expect lower poly counts or less texture detail or even worse, crappy framerates.

PC games will be the first to rival Pixar as they have a much shorter evolutionary cycle in terms of graphics abilities. It won't be too long before 1GB graphics cards become more mainstream. Consoles won't see this for at least ...

...but to me even the first Toy Story looks better. In-game graphics on any system are nowhere near the quality of Pixar as yet. The biggest giveaway is still the number of polygons used to create environments and characters.

I think that the next generation of hardware will definitely close the gap considerably. This gen simply does not pack enough graphics RAM to even warrant such comparisons.

Stand alone media HDD units for the home are becoming more and more common. Basically its a high capacity HDD unit that has wireless capability and it also consumes heaps less energy than a PC when in use. I much prefer this over having physical discs all over the place.

...Blu-Ray is so superior to HD-DVD?

I'm not interested in who supports one format or the other but the only difference I can see between the two is storage capacity.

You also keep saying that consumers should chose the superior format...well, I consider digital distribution (DD) to be superior to any physical disc media in terms of movie distribution. Thanks to all this dispute over HD disc formats DD will gain momentum sooner rather than later.
