Is this game on another platform? Not "A" chess game, this game. Baseball games come out on multiple platforms every year. The Show is an exclusive to one platform, however. Do you not get the concept? The title is an exclusive.

@daoshai

There can be an element of that to a chess match that can make playing somebody face-to-face a unique experience, but it has absolutely zero to do with chess itself. Chess is a game of strategy and math, period. If you don't believe me I suggest you consider why it is that we've built machines that can crush any human opponent thrown at them, without the benefit of seeing their face.

External factors can certainly effect the outcome of a ches...

"I wonder how they pull it off in real life..."

You mean when people use guns? The physical objects that you can hold and manipulate (sound familiar? {controllers})? And when people can freely walk or run to move around, instead of being relegated to one spot? And when people can turn their heads to look at things?

Yeah, I wonder how they do that. Way to offer the most inept comparison of the year.

What did they list "batteries not replaceable" as a downside? I thought people preferred things that you could charge... I know I do.

But yeah, I'm very happy with mine. The surround works great for PS3 games, and the quality of it in stereo is really good too. Good enough that I often use it to listen to music from my laptop.

That works both ways. Nintendo made one console with wacky controllers and now everybody acts like they're the mothers of innovation.

As you say, it won't necessarily make a big difference if the Wii-U is only the weakest of the next gen by a small margin. If it's the weakest of THIS gen though, then Nintendo will be in the same sinking boat they are in with the Wii at the moment.

If their fanbase didn't care then why would they make a new console at all? You've been championing the idea of not-caring about hardware throughout this thread, and the whole time conveniently ignoring the fact that Nintendo have been forced to come out with a new console first because their hardware is dated. They've been making sure to let gamers know that they care about what we want now (crawling back to us, the game-buyers, as I see it), and making sure that we all know it&#...

I predict it will release on a Tuesday. Either this year or next.

Hell, I even enjoyed the end to the series (eps 25 & 26). But yeah End of Evangelion was completely badass.

5080d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Absolutely. A lot of this had to do with the fact that they were (in a loose sense of the word) ports of coin-crunchers. I seemed to me that that level of difficulty kind of set the standard at the time, and it held throughout that console generation for the most part.

I still remember how abruptly that changed too, when I first got a SNES and started playing those games. I wasn't sure at the time if they were definitely easier, or if I had maybe gotten a bit better. Hav...

And if you can accuse reviewers of spinning bad elements (the things I mentioned in the last paragraph) and making them sound good, couldn't anyone easily accuse you of taking a bunch of positive reviews and trying to make the game sound bad from them? Especially when you use the fact that a single reviewer fell asleep as ammunition to dispute that the game is engaging? You've already acknowledged that Journey's praise is very positive almost across the board, so why is the guy wh...

Wait, are you trying to convince me and anyone reading this thread that the game we thought we enjoyed is actually just something that we had convincingly presented to us? That we've been successfully and thoroughly duped into thinking we had a great time? I'm trying to take you (and respond to you) seriously, as I'm pretty sure you aren't trolling, but whether or not you mean to, you're proposing something pretty offensive. Since you are in the extreme minority with your ...

You know what's telling to me? The fact that every single person I've encountered (so far) who has some kind of beef with Journey has never played it.

I get that the type of experience that Journey offers may not be for you, but you're hardly being fair in your analysis of the game through the filter of reviews you've read.

You're saying that people are calling it art because "clearly" (excuse me, but I can't stand the abuse...

Very well written review. This certainly isn't an easy one to tackle, and I appreciate your effort for clarity and objectivity, as well as some context for the type of conflicting reception games like this often get. Well done.

@HungPHATx
While I personally wouldn't go around crapping on something before I listen to it, I certainly wouldn't give something with a title like this the opportunity of a listen. It's for the same reason that I don't click on the "Top 10 reasons the game you love sucks" articles. I might read the comments on here for amusement, but I'm not going to actively contribute to the success of flamebaiting and sensationalism in gaming media.

Nice list. Vanquish and Wipeout HD both made me quit in shame.

Glad to know I was able to platinum one of those games though: Mirror's Edge.

Nobody has been forced into anything. Bioware made the decision to give players the option of sexual preference, and it's not like it's become the norm in games at all. Relax man.
