The above is linked in the article; it's a sort of blacklist of sites that take $ for reviews. I plan never to give any of them a single click.

Good read. While many of us have known that this kind of nonsense goes on for some time, I've been curious as to how the deal goes down. Pretty gross.

@FishyFingers

Early adopters of hardware are important if we want these products to go down in price eventually, and see new iterations. If everyone were to "wait and save" when HDTVs came out, it would have been a while, if ever (lack of interest would probably result in a halt of production), before we saw them priced reasonably.

Also, if he has enough money to blow on one of those, maybe he doesn't need some random dude on the internet tellin...

I was expecting $20 if they sold it solo. This is definitely a nice surprise.

@StichJones
Wow, I'm guessing a full year after A Realm Reborn is launched there will still be a bunch of boneheads sitting around wondering why people are playing a game that got such bad reviews on release. What part of "new game" don't people understand? New team? The title of a game doesn't contain the quality, you know that, right? So if the game has gotten a complete makeover, why would you sit there and permanently condemn it for a state that it hasn't...

Why should they have let it die? Lots of people wanted to see it improved, and they already put a great deal of $ into creating it. Would it be smart for them to just throw it down the drain, or try to recoup and make the game profitable while making fans happy? I admire the fact that they were able to swallow their pride and make amends.

Yeah, leave the schoolyard-style insults at the door dude, and find out what you're talking about.

Not only are the servers far from being shut down, but the GW/FF-online thing went down many years ago. Nobody who went from FFXI to GW lasted there more than 4 weeks, and the ones who spent even that much time in GW were rare. While everyone enjoyed the game, it doesn't aim for the depth that FFXI did, and so couldn't satisfy people who were ...

"NO, the loss of Mass Effect isn't indicative of Microsoft’s lack of care for exclusives. There's so much we don't know that goes behind the scenes in the games industry."

Ah, but you know those things, don't you.

4896d ago 4 agree4 disagreeView comment

Actually exclusives are a big part of what helped the 360 get such a strong head-start. Exclusives are a major characteristic of a console's library that makes it totally unique from its competitors.

If the Wii-U is going to be able to hang with the next iterations of the Xbox and Playstation (which will remain to be seen for some time), then exclusives are going to matter more than ever. With most of the great ones belonging to Nintendo and Sony platforms, MS would do w...

"....or do we continue to live in the past and resign them to the casual gamer?"

I won't live in the past, but I won't live in the unwritten future either, which is to say that Nintendo isn't going to convince me that they're catering to me just because they've been saying that they are. Especially when the original big feature on this is the tablet controller, which indicates that they aren't done chasing the Angry Birds crowd. When they pro...

Yeah, this site is pretty blatant about underhanded crap that it does for hits. Check out their troll article on the front page that also makes you click through several times to read one story.

According to the comments that is, I didn't feed these clowns.

I really don't get it. This top _ nonsense is the most brutally abused tactic in the game blogger's arsenal, with trolling brands as a close second. Just write about what you want to write about. You don't need to put everything in a list, or troll us with headlines. Build something that people want to come back to, not just something that you might be able to bait people into visiting now and then, and whose numbers you inflate with the way your site is built.

Way to take my sarcasm without getting mad. I now have no choice but to reply without it from here on =p

There is a (perceived, on my part)distinction that perhaps I should have made clear from the start to facilitate this discussion; the type of tech you're looking forward to (and that most of us have fantasized about at least once or twice since childhood) is not something that I consider to fit in the framework of video-gaming. Most ideas about the future of gaming int...

"I strongly believe that in order to usher in the true era of next-gen gaming, the peripherals that we use really need to evolve- as much as I like the standard controller, I think they present stumbling block for the enjoyment of true immersion."

So then we've been in the same console generations for decades. Who knew?

What is this "true immersion" you are trying to enjoy that controllers are c***-blocking? Have you visited the future...

Sounds like you're a bit sensitive about the fact that some people have a good time chasing achievements.

That old gag. The original armchair psychologists would be proud that their oldest tradition is still alive and well in some form.

Anyway, nobody is going to read this and go:

"Wait.... So you mean I don't get anything at the end of this? No prize? What have I been doing all these years?!?!?"

We all kno...

I think if he is an individual capable of thoroughly grasping the intricacies of how a multimedia conglomerate whose value is in the billions runs itself, then he wouldn't have had to go on a reality show to obtain a position in the game industry. In other words: He doesn't know what he's talking about more than any other blogger who sits around and criticizes business operations that they don't fully understand.

The only difference is that he is not one of t...

Nobody is really mad about it. People might be cracking jokes on the Wii-U, but nobody is actually pissed off about COD running at 60fps. It's just an excuse for a site dedicated to Nintendo hardware to tout something that they think will make people who don't like Nintendo mad. They're doing what shitty writers do best: Trolling in lieu of an idea of something of substance to write about.

Not only when it hits that point, but when that kind of speed becomes overwhelmingly common. Otherwise they're cutting out a huge chunk of the gaming population prematurely, and getting a lot of other people annoyed in the process.

Though as you said, even when it is totally feasible, people will still feel forced. I know I will.
