I do remember it painstakingly all to well, but Nintendo is emulating the same pattern that they did with the Wii. So I expect August to be a big month for info on games and September to find out more about the hardware and price.

Most people don't buy Nintendo consoles for 3rd party games, that's just been an added bonus. But now their console will have some of the most acclaimed franchises this generation as launch titles plus whatever they bring as well. So its kind of hard to ignore that kind of overview during the holiday season for a new console!

Both Sony and Microsoft are going hard after the casual and family markets this holiday season. How does one even compare Nintendo's studios that just started working on HD games with WiiU to the likes of developers that have been working with HD consoles for 6+ years. Which is why most of us keep saying that we can't wait to see what Retro Studios is working on. Because we know that will be a defining moment for the WiiU.
I believe even the GC and Wii used AF in its GPU features! I'm not sure that it's because current GPU's don't incorporate this technique, but that they just don't highlight or advertise it...

I don't get the skepticism! Is it because its a Nintendo console or that 1080p is just to grand of an achievement to reach for? The WiiU is going to release and sale at a profit for Nintendo, so even if they sale half of the Wii's installed base it's all profit for them. But I expect people will underestimate what WiiU will do and in the end I guess time will tell!

Considering how much most of the big budget titles cost to make, yes this is a very good thing! It gives developers and publishers alike another avenue to make profit for a relatively low cost of entry. Which is why we might see Nintendo themselves partnering with more 3rd party developers on bringing games to WiiU as they are doing with Ninja Gaiden 3.
What's interesting is that people choose to argue that PS3&360 clearly looked next-gen compared to last-gen systems. Well guess what guys they should have right out of the gate! Going from SD visuals to HD visuals should be a major increase. But we aren't doing the same evolution next-gen... Consoles will still be sporting HD resolutions and using pretty much just fastter more up to date versions of GPU's and CPU's that are in current consoles or in the same family of chip...
Yeah people aren't giving the WiiU enough credit as being next-gen. Until more developers come forth that are willing to utilize the extra hardware its a pointless argument. On Nintendo's side of things as a developer, they need more time to show truly next-gen visuals on the platform and I'm sure Retro will be the first studio to do so. Although I am expecting pretty great things from Gearbox as well, as Aliens CM looks to be one amazing game already...
