It's a shame because it didn't have to be this way. The could have focused on quality games, not shut down a bunch of their studios between 2008 - 2013, not focus on DRM, and not overprice themselves by $100, handing Sony the victory before it even launched.
Sony needs strong competition, its good for all industries to have competition. But right now MS doesn't even want to try.

Indeed, this is something a lot of people don't take into consideration. In 2016 I was initially upset when PS Neo was rumored, but eventually I realized that the PS4 Pro wasn't a bad thing at all, just an optional upgrade. Would have been nice if Ubishit took this stance in the past, with AC: Revelations, AC: III, and AC: Unity coming out in a rushed and sloppy state. Then of course even the more recent releases like Origins / Odyssey / Valhalla had plenty of launch issues as well.

Yesterday people here complained about remasters but this is a cool remaster to see. I own them on PS1, but glad that these games can be supported again on modern hardware (of course those can be easily emulated if that's your style).

No, this gen is going to last a lot longer than previous gens (and that includes cross-gen period), a mid-gen upgrade is welcome, but that 5 Pro $700 price (without disc drive) does sting.
