This game is one highly anticipated titles for me.
I *vastly* prefer it now that they've dropped the Marvel license. I dont need to re-hear every minor Marvel cliche over and over again. I know many of the stories, I know the characters and their roles.
I am very excited that they've decided to invent new experienecs, invent new characters and roles, new scenarios -- this game will be fresher, newer and more interesting without the Marvel baggage.
@fishy-fingers
What do you think they've done?
Not a "recall", no, but a 100% free, no hassle repair if your machine breaks.
You're splitting hairs. Oh, and btw, this VAIO problem exists TODAY. While, the heat-issues in the Xbox 360 were repaired more than a year ago.
So, you need some new FUD.
They wouldnt recall the PS2 when it was failing like mad -- I had 3 machines break. Everyone I know had a PS2 fail.
There was a cottage industry in my city built around repairing PS2s. There were signs up in windows "Playstation Repaired Here" -- there were ads every day in the newspaper.
Not recalling these broken laptops doesnt suprise me at all.
Its very well established anti-customer behaviour from Sony.
Looks like a great title. I'm very interested in playing this Demo.
You should try playing Kameo or Viva Pinata. VP is vastly underrated frankly, but loved by many. And, Kameo is a very good game too.
@2.1
Ratchet & Clank ToD has sold 1.09M.
Viva Pinata has sold 1.27M copies.
You might want to be careful what you call "luke warm" reception. Oh, did you know Viva Pinata was nominated for 6 Awards at the '06 Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences... amoungst others.

I've got a new 80GB and the same problem is happening to me!
The game crashes during the intro. And it doesnt get through to allow me any control - ever.
I'm going to try getting a new disc later today. But my drive was making serious clunking-noises (didnt happen before today..) -- the game better not have f-ed up my machine.
DAMN!
Why are you guys so eager to apologize for Sony's half-baked solutions?
Double-sign-ups/accounts? no problem. PSN half-baked compared to LIVE? No problem. Multi-platform games out-featured, and out performed by Xbox 360 versions? no problem. Pointless, 20-minute mandatory installs? no problem. No elegant way to transfer all your data when you change to a new drive? no problem.
And on and on.
Here you are again, making excuses. Its *OK* to...
Its amazing that the Sony owners are trying to make excuses for this. You're 100% correct, and by the (dis)agrees your getting, its clear they agree -- and it really upsets them.
Exactly. What were they thinking?
Perhaps they'll patch it or something? Personally, I'd rather they just delay it instead of shipping this half-assed stuff.
Why would sony copy Wii's horrible system?
We want a SINGLE unified sign-on accross all games, not this wii-ware mashup of confusion.
Way to blow it Konami & Sony.
Shananigans? Man, wake up.
There are reports all over about this. Its not new, its not simply Destructoid publishing this story.
Sheesh, do you always invent your own reality?
Its pretty funny watching the PS3 guys try and squirm. These 80010514 Error Code of Death reports arent exactly new.
If you only spend your time on N4G you'd never know that of course, because the news here has to pass the phalanx of Sony zealots.
But, this Code of Death news started last year. Hell, these guys reported "40% Failure Rate for 40GB PS3s" last November. http://www.gamer.tm/...
I gather you wrote "microSOFT" to highlight their software focus.
How are you liking that PS3 OS/Firmware? How about PSN?
@1.2
What are you talking about? ON what planet do people just volunteer to help Microsoft?
I try not to get any emotional relationship with hardware, brands or corporations, but there are *MANY* irrational, hate-filled, loudmouthed morons (go look in a mirror), who will say anything and everything no matter how ridiculous to spread lies and BS about MS or its products.
Thats a fact. And, my objective opinion is that MS doesnt deserve it.
"But i dont know if microsoft will even continue the xbox"
HHAhah! Right. After getting +18Million Xbox 360s in the market, and dominating in software sales and critical acclaim, the largest and best online service in gaming and a growing place in Digital Distribution (Zune, IPTV, Media Room, Marketplace...) -- AND MAKING A PROFIT -- they're just going to "give-up" because you love your PS3 a lot?
Doubtful.
@1.8
Its amazing that you're arguing the Xbox 360 Arcade isnt any good because games require online play.
Why? Because the Xbox 360 LIVE makes the PS3's PSN look like shiat.
So, yeah, online play is really really important. And, you can play online with the Xbox 360 Arcade. And, the Xbox 360's online play is VASTLY superior to PSN.
Its just a laugh riot that you're trying to say "Buy a PS3 for online play".
Thank-you foodbox. I dont know where you get the patience.
Step A) Find a story with a ridiculous anti-MS slant.
Step B) Submit to N4G.
Step C) Trolls drive story to top of page.
Step D) Snore.
Two normal guys, with nothing special about them at all. So normal that they shop at a discount shoe store and eat churros.
It is very subtle, but it is the exact opposite of the Get a Mac adds, which are targeted at people who want to think that they are special. This add is a profound indictment of the whole...
