Your “rough dude” game is “Horizon Call of the Mountain on PSVR2”. Great game. A “rough dude” protagonist like the Doom Slayer wouldn’t work for a main Horizon game because the overall story requires the protagonist to be an outside thinker, cerebral, and empathetic enough to build a coalition of allies. It would be like putting Doom Slayer in “Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sure, he’d kill a lot of Nazis, but he would never find the Ark or save anyone.
The FTC’s enforcement of antitrust changes with each administration. Vote elephant and you get almost zero enforcement of antitrust laws. Vote donkey and you get an FTC with teeth.
100% no. A gaming “news” website should know better than to so nakedly support the interest of the industry over the interest of players. If this was a single player game, Blizzard would have no problems with players speed running the game. But this is a live service game with micro-transactions and battle passes. Blizzard needs players to keep grinding away lest they lose their paying audience. I quit Destiny 2 because of this bullshit.
To be fair, Activision was already destroying studios to service Call of Duty, EA killed several franchises to meet quarterly deadlines, and Ubisoft set the standard for generic open world gameplay. The difference now is that Microsoft has to power to kill entire ecosystems.
Anti-trust actions usually end with a negotiated settlement. Not very cinematic but that’s the way it is.
Because you can’t buy Call of Duty now? Funny thing is, for the price difference between Game Pass Ultimate and PS+ Extra, you could buy a Call of Duty and a couple of season passes.
“time to see how Sony will retaliate”
It’s not about retaliation. It’s about survival. And it’s not just Sony that needs to survive. We still in the early days of the gaming mega mergers. Lots developers you know and love will be absorbed into giant corporations that are focused on quarterly profits and are ok with releasing games that are good enough.
Yes they are. I’ve always struggled to play the newest games on my old hardware. My solution was to give up on PC gaming and stick with consoles. I know that a PS5 version of a game will run great on my PS5. That way I can have whatever computer form factor works for me,
PC gamers are understandably upset but there are way more laptops with integrated graphics than gaming PCs with RT.
The effect of Microsoft’s E3 2013 presentation is 100% NOT overblown. I and millions of others saw this and knew the PS4 was going to be the winner of that generation’s console war. Maybe Xbox wouldn’t have lost so much marketshare if Xbox One had backward compatibility at launch and made the Kinect 2.0 optional. Looking back, I’m surprised Xbox One didn’t sell worse.
That “one market”, the U.S., is the biggest money maker. U.S. gamers spend a lot on games. No tariffs on consoles. No currency exchange issues. No foreign profits means no tax on foreign profits. If Microsoft is going to succeed anywhere, it has to be in the U.S.
Clickbait websites want to keep writing articles about Starfield.
Back in 2018, Apple compared the iPad Pro to the Xbox One S. That means that any M1 Mac and better should run games better than a last gen console, probably better than Steam Deck, and definitely better than a Nintendo Switch. But I would want to see a game by game benchmark before investing in games for Mac.
The chatbots that are writing these articles aren’t old enough to have scraped data mentioning game subscription services that predate Game Pass.
People don’t use Steam Deck to make spreadsheets. It doesn’t even come with Windows 11. It’s a gaming machine that competes with every other gaming machine.
“free”
The one best reason not too: the Switch is just so old. How far out are we from the Switch 2? Probably not far enough out that you would get your money’s worth out of the Switch if you bought it today. A Switch Lite or a used Switch makes some sense of you have to play Zelda, Mario, and Pokémon and have been sitting on the fence for the last 6 and a half years.
Switch hasn’t outsold the DS yet. The DS remains the top dedicated gaming handheld of all time with 154 million sold! Amazingly, the top selling dedicating gaming device is a home console, the PS2 with a staggering 158 million sold!
The Batmobile was great. The Bat-tank was terrible. Slow, uninspiring, and goes against the stealth combat that made the series legendary. But it wasn’t the worst thing about the game. That honor goes to the cookie cutter, Ubisoft style bases that you have to capture in each section of the map.
More, please. I was watching “See” with my family and we talked about similar the set up was to Horizon. I love the idea of these tribal communities surrounded by sky scrapers and futuristic robot animals. There is so much of this world yet to explore.
