“the Steam version of Halo Infinite surpassed 15k concurrent players yesterday for the first time since April 2022”
There’s more competition among shooters on PC than Xbox, but this still seems low for a free-to-play game.
Agreed. Back then, consoles didn’t all fit nicely into generations. It was fun to visit your friends and play games on the odd systems their parents bought.
A lot of folks are discounting the incredible hype for Starfield. Hype ain’t cheep. And with Microsoft’s expanding library of studios, it doesn’t have all the time to hype every game. But then this game for Microsoft was about expanding the market for Xbox and GamePass. If they wanted money from Game Sales, this would be on the PS5. We’ve seen a bump on Xbox sales. Hard to say how many new Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft may never tell,
With enough caveats, it will look like Xbox is taking over the world!
I’ve heard this before and I’ll hear it again as PlayStation continues to outsell Xbox by 2:1 or more.
Whoa, hold your horses. Have you seen older consoles? They were either boxes with a lot of stuff on them or lumps of melted plastic. Don’t let nostalgia cloud your judgment. A new consoles is someone’s first console that they will someday recreate with Legos.
Anyway, this is a better article on the subject because it has pictures: https://www.pcma...
If Sony isn’t making much money from PSVR 2, then why did I pay $550?
More isn’t always better, especially when Microsoft has such a poor track record of handling its own exclusives like Halo and Gears of War. And now Microsoft is in a position where its games are competing with its other games. Developers will be let go. Franchised will die.
If you want to see the future of gaming, look at the Netflix. Lots and lots of junk content that Netflix abandoned. I would say this is the future of Game Pass, but Microsoft Studios is already publishing junk on Game Pass. Now we’ll get more junk.
All of Phil Spencer’s promises about eliminating platform exclusivity have come true /s.
Xbox has been on Microsoft’s shit list ever since Satya Nadella took over as Microsoft’s CEO. But Satya knows how big the games business can be, and owning the market for games is just pure profit for any company that can do it. Just ask Tim Cook. Apple makes more in games than Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft combined.
The problem with IGN is almost all their reviews end up in the 7-10 range. They are afraid to score too low and piss people off and afraid to score too high and look like they are pandering. Gutless. Maybe IGN’s Spider-Man 2 review is spot on. Even a broken clock strikes true twice a day.
8/10 is IGN’s default score. Who even visits the IGN website? They stopped trying a long time ago.
Bethesda games in general lost a lot of relevancy when Microsoft excluded 2/3 of the home console market. Starfield specifically lost a lot of relevancy when hype met reality.
A lot of the inflation that we see at retail is just b.s. price markups. Component prices are actually down this year. Samsung is reporting a 90% drop in profits in components. For some markets, the price increase is the result of fluctuations in currency value. U.S. currency is strong and yet the slim PS5 digital is $50 more expensive. I’d buy the bigger PS5 digital for $400 while supplies last,
Or put another way, why don’t people want to invest in an on-line storefront?
The Xbox Series S to X split itself is between 50/50 and 75/25. That’s a lot of Xbox owners who have no reason to shop at Walmart. So of course Walmart is looking at using that shelf space for something that people buy. This is actually part of Microsoft’s plan. Once Game Pass reaches critical mass, it will be like the old days of cable TV. Microsoft can charge what it wants and offer the content it wants.
Ownership looks grim at this point. I really don’t want to be beholden to a few giant companies every time I want to watch a movie or play a game.
Great revision for Sony. A lot smaller, saves Sony a lot money. With the pricing, though, not a great revision for consumers.
This would be amazing if it simulated the 1990s “Thief” game.
