steve30x there will always be people that go to extremes like that. I personally think they are quite insane myself but if that is what they enjoy doing then good luck to them. That is the beauty of PC gaming, you make it what you want it to be.
The thing is you don't NEED to spend $2000 + $1000 to enjoy all the latest games maxxed out at a decent resolution. You can if you want but that is a different issue. About two years ago I built myself a quadcore for about £500 t...
All the criticisms you levelled at high end PC gaming can equally be levelled at the consoles. This generation of consoles has been nearly as confusing for customers as the PC is. You just need to look at the different models that both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 have gone through, some models have some features and other models had those features removed.
The same for software updates, the 360 and PS3 are no longer immune to that either games need patches and I have lost count of...
Now you are just perpetuating myths with the $2000 PC and another $1000 to upgrade it. I have never in my life ever spent $3000 on a PC and if someone is stupid enough to spend that amount of money then they need their head seeing too.
You then devalue the PC by going "but minesweeper really isn't the same thing as Doom 3" I am not talking about minesweeper or solitaire. There are millions of people that play facebook games every day on the PC. Then there are the bro...
and only possible at 2560 x 1600 @ 60fps on the PC.
Is that a joke ? there are more PC gamers than the Wii, 360 and PS3 combined. The PC is so well entrenched and established in a way the consoles will never achieve. The PC is now considered an essential item like the fridge or a cooker but a console is still considered a "luxury" item in other words something people do not need.
If people have a PC they can play games, it may not be to the same technical sophistication as the latest games but they are still gaming. T...
heroprotagonist I take it you aren't a PC gamer, if you were a PC gamer you would know that pretty much everything MS has done with regards to gaming on the PC has been to introduce us to a "console like environment". The Games For Windows scheme has absolutely NOTHING to do with promoting or helping PC gaming. The scheme exists to get PC gamers comfortable with a console like experience. So that we are more likely to switch to their xbox.
You see MS wants you gaming...
Oh look another 360 cry baby accusing me of being a PS3 fanboy. I am not a PS3 fanboy I think both consoles are utter crap and people should be sent to a mental asylum for even thinking of buying those toys.
Oh and taylork37 you want to check your facts, Microsoft DOES NOT receive any money for games sold on the PC. The same goes for games on the Games For Windows label there is NO royalty fee :-
"We have a quality checklist and a set of technical guidelines ga...
I am not entirely sold on that picture being from the PC version. The resolution of the pic is 2560px × 1440px . Now that is suspiciously like a 1280 x 720 picture just resized to 2560 x 1440.
It is certainly a damn odd resolution that is for sure, I would at least expect them to do it as 2560 x 1600.
I would actually be more interested in evidence that the majority of PC gamers actually give a crap if Lost Planet 2 comes to the PC. I thought the first one was utter tripe.
"Your comments sure do sound like another PC poser on here... Pandamobile hmm.... ;) "
Hey guess what Jason 360 you are wrong again, firstly you accuse me of being a PS3 owner (which I am not) now you are saying I am secretly Pandamobile. Tell me do you ever get anything right ?
As for which version to get, I will be getting the PC version. I have my PC hooked up to a monitor and a TV that means I can CHOOSE how I want to play the game. If I want to play...
Well lets face it saying "I can't wait for this bundle to be available on the PC" is almost as stupid as saying "yeah Mass Effect 2 is exclusive to the Xbox 360".
ROFL you think I am a PS3 droid, have a look through my history and see if you can find ONE single good thing I have said about the PS3. I think the 360 and PS3 are equally crap there is no better console they are all rubbish and the sooner you guys open your eyes the better.
Oh and I stand by what I said, the PC is an OPEN platform no one company OWNS the PC. My PC has parts from Samsung, Gigabyte, Microsoft, Intel, Nvidia, Corsair and OCZ. As I said should I call my PC an Nvi...
Why don't you wait till the comparisons come out mcnablejr ? The difference will be like night and day in the PC's favour. The graphics and textures will be a lot better on the PC version, the resolution will not be limited to 720p like the console version. Oh and no matter how good your Bravia television is it won't be able to make Mass Effect run faster than 30fps.
I on the other hand will be playing the game with crisp clear visuals on my 42" 1080p TV with frame rates ...
The PC is NOT a Microsoft product, I have an Nvidia graphics card does that make my PC an Nvidia product ? Microsoft is only responsible for 1 part of the PC which is the operating system. That most certainly does NOT make the PC a Microsoft Product.
That's odd I already have a computer that plays the game at 1680 x 1050 maxxed out running at 60fps. I don't need to spend $800 on a new PC to do it. I can use my two year old quad to max this game out. You see some of us actually love our gaming and we want our games to look and play as best they can.
Besides the fact that all PC games are at least $10 cheaper than the console versions means I have probably made $800 worth of savings by sticking with the PC. Not to mention t...
Yet who wants to bet the PC version will have higher resolution textures, sharper graphics, a massively better frame rate and a better control system. I will play Mass Effect 2 on the platform it is meant to be played on, which is naturally the PC.
Not sure why you feel that way Tony P I thought Demiurge Studios did a pretty good job on the PC port of Mass Effect. I certainly wouldn't have complained if they had been in charge of bringing Mass Effect 2 to the PC.
Whilst I don't have a problem with the idea of DLC, in fact it should be welcomed if it is done right it can be a good way to extend the life of a game. I do however have a problem with this "day one" DLC, if it is day one then they should have included it in the actual game rather than try to fleece us for more cash.
This is not an acceptable trend and I won't be a part of it. I have pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 from steam (not much I can do about that now). I will enj...
I guess that is the writers view, personally I prefer the soldier class. I have never played with the biotics they do not interest me in the slightest. Some people like me are just not fans of the wishy washy magical powers crap.
But hey it's Mass Effect 2 one of the beautiful things about the game is you play it how you want to play it. There is no right or wrong class, just play the class that gives you the most fun.
I stopped reading the minute I saw the authors name Charlie Demerjian the guy is such an ATI fanboy it aint even funny. I would take whatever bull this guy is spouting with a massive barge pole.
