BC allows a console to have a massive Title base , who would want there console to be able to say it has the largest game library available . Sony could make PS Now a free service , but they have learnt from last gen not to give anything away i.e. online gaming , especially a service that could generate them a massive amount of revenue via a subscription. Funny thing is I think Sony would much rather be focusing on PS Now and streaming to VR headsets than actually shipping consoles. They had a massive install base with the PS 3 and all there own hardware that the really didn't need to sell anymore. They could have just been streaming digital content and watching the bank balance increase from all those subscriptions from the 80 -100 million units already out in the field.

kind of makes sense to look at it this way . MS are a software company , the measure profit against licences in most of its business. Months profit measured by Xbox live is a more measurable than straight hardware sale. We need to remember revenue is created from the use of the xbox not the sale of the xbox.

The pace mobile technology is moving i could see it happening. I iPhone came in 2007 and look at what the current version can do compared to the first. Id love to be able to have cross play on my iPhone , shared saves rather than streaming.

They were beaten by a better PR team. Sony played a perfect game this time round , every chance they had to one up microsoft they did. The concept MS pitched for the XB1 originally was a much bigger idea than Sony's " heres a faster console with better GPU" and that was there undoing. They wanted paradigm shift and the consumer wanted cellphone upgrade.

this will be the last xbox . Next time you will see xbox branded pc's. xbox live will become the core and hardware will be with of your own design or a PC ( one of many configurations) out of a box with a xbox logo. Microsoft are playing it smart in the long run.
its a similar strategy as Sony setting up there hardware to use PSNow , which will be the evolution of their PS console.
I just hope the games are more than Indie titles. A killzone that was totally immersive would be amazing but Sony doesn't have a strong first person line up from their studios part from that...... I can see activison coming on board with CoD and destiny but they won't be built solely for the tech.
seemed like a fun game , played the alpha and it was solid. just seems like a lot more hate will be heaped onto this game because its not paid exclusive for PS4 , like destiny and battlefront was.

how hard would it be to cross reference your PS + account and let you download the new version of the game. Any game you have bought on xbox live just appeared in my game list from my 360 account. You can't tell me Sony could do the same thing...
2016 maybe a slim year for AAA exclusives as well. 3 year development window on games , 2017 should be a ripper.

ms should just release a new box now while they have only a 10 million install base , put a spin on it as an evolution of console technology via multiple versions with different features and let the consumer govern where they money goes. Follow the apple upgrade path of 2-3 versions and let the DX12 software scale the version that gets used on the console. As long as the entry level of this new product is on par with the current xb1 they could pull it off easily. Current users stay happy and...
