It doesn't matter if you think JRPG's are 'old-school,' the fact is they sell like hot cakes in Asian markets and on Japanese consoles. Even the 360 sees sales spikes in Japan when a JRPG is released, but most people don't want a 360 as there favorite franchises are on the PS3 (or hardware issues, etc). The JRPG market is in Japan, and the 360 is not a console that does terribly well there.

You can't build a $300 PC with a bluray player that can play Crisis at the rates your talking about. Bluray players are expensive, and you can put PC games on multiple discs because of the install (you only need 1 disc to play anyway).
Bluray DOES benefit the PS3. Look at MGS4, it needed the space. Now you'll argue that its all video, but that doesn't matter. The fact remains that without bluray that game would have been a lot different.

That's a retarded argument. Sales don't mean sh!t. It just means a game was hyped and advertised a lot. And reviews are just people's opinions. MS only spent that much covering faulty hardware because they had to. They would have been sued for a lot more than that. I'm not saying MS is more evil, it's just that they screwed up their hardware and had to pay for it.

I think his argument is valid. Exclusives are supposed to add value to the particular console they are on. The fact that I can get those "Microsoft Exclusives" on the PC diminishes the value of the 360.
Everyone owns a computer, and most people use windows. You could just as easily choose to spend your money on computer components than a 360 if the game you want is on the PC as well. I'd rather own a decent PC and a PS3, because I'll get a lot of games from both sides. ...

I don't really think making a company first party restricts their creativity. At least it doesn't have to, and I really don't think that MS execs would actually think that. I mean look at Team ICO. The Halo rocket launcher is "nothing special" either though. It just shoots rockets. The LAARK at least does something different. I don't really see it as a weapon deserving of the top 5 rocket launchers though, and Halo is basically just mentioned due to its popularity. I only give GTA a pass because of the physics in the game. Having a rocket bounce off a windshield is pretty f-ing cool.

But he's right. Competition is why both companies try to please the consumers. They are constantly fighting for our money. I'm fairly certain MS were the ones to raise games price $10. Don't you think they would have went higher if it wasn't for their competition? Without Sony they could charge whatever they wanted for anything, as long as it was low enough for people to afford. I don't know about you, but I really like gaming. I'd go pretty high before giving up on it completely.
In the end it doesn't even matter which console has better graphics power. The fact is Sony has better developers, which is why their exclusive games look better. Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, all the SCE branches, etc. all make excellent games. That's why the PS3 is seen as graphically superior. In the end, the specs don't make a difference, it's how games use them that counts.
