I phoned my friend last week to tell him I snagged the RE demo, and we were both stoked for it (I hadn't played it yet). We played it for an hour and deleted it. We had more co-op fun w/ HAZE. L4D has made it feel so old and dated. And here I thought it was a RE clone.
Ain't it funny people defend RE for its clunky, unresponsive controls saying that it helps to heighten the atmosphere and the tension. But it's the same frenetic pace in Valve's zombie shooter, only I can move free...
QoS might actually be a better game than the garbage they've released this gen (might as well include the last 2 years on the Ps2 too). And anyone who played the Bond game knows how ironic/sad that statement is.
In 2 years time, I better be seeing the 720. IMO, MS would be better off phasing out both the arcade and the elite, lowering the price of the Pro to $199 and introduce the 720 @$399. Not to say it won't happen, but I'd rather MS not spend anymore time and R&D on this gen's hardware and the problems associated w/ it. Will a slim even have an HDD?
I told you people BEFORE the notorious HHG article to simply google XLIII Super Bowl ads and you could see Sony wasn't planning one. Should they have? Absolutely. Did they? No. And it's not the end of the world. Just don't tell me Sony's planning on spending the money elsewhere though. I'll believe it when I see it.
I guess you never played AvP:Extinction then Mart? It's an Xbox1 title that's BC w/ a 360. I recommend it and you'll find Ensemble lifted the exact control scheme/gameplay for Halo Wars. Don't get me wrong, that's a GOOD thing. But not original.
EDIT: OMG that's right Max, I forgot about that one too.
BTW, Mart did you get that Sammy or the LG? (Hopefully you took my advice).
AvP:Extinction, which IMO for a last gen console RTS, was hugely underrated. And while I have this on pre-order I'm a little disappointed there will be no SP campaign for the Covenant. And thus no Flood SP campaign as well according to Game Informer. That bummed me out as RTSs are the one genre I prefer to solo. Bubbles forthcoming to anyone that provides information that contradicts the GI article.
@theHitman - you're right, RTS sell on PC, not so much on consoles. But companies...
According to the preview in GI:
"The inclusion of movie assets and an impressive likeness of Hugh Jackman give the surprisingly gory presentation authority. Procedural damage to Wolverine that gradually heals as his regeneration takes effect can be somewhat disturbing - gaping wounds that lay bare his skeleton are rather explicit. Likewise, the catastrophic damage his claws inflict on enemies is often brutal to the point of being shocking."
Oh snap, color m...
Sometimes you'll have to replay the mission from the beginning. I recommend completing a mission one at a time unfortunately. Same thing happened to me and until my friend started playing it, I initially thought it was a corrupted save. Then it happened to him.
Trust me. The only level where they come endlessly is the "For the Motherland" mission and only at the Flak 88 cannons. Treyarch treats certain enemy soldiers like a set piece. Once you kill him, another will respawn in his place for 5 times. Don't believe me, try it.
I'm glad they made the buddy AI half retarded because IW completely nerfed them in CoD4. You can make it through entire levels w/o shooting. The buddy AI is TOO good. In hindsight, CoD4's SP was a waste. T...
Go ahead and google the XLIII commercial ads and Sony is NOT listed. Doesn't mean they can't or won't, but at this time no. At 3 million per 30 seconds, it's a steep price if they can't get a slot early before halftime. I always root for Cinderella but this year's game could get ugly quick.
I wanted to check out the process too. To the right of the page is the actual link that redirects you to the website. Looks like you have to pay to view. I don't care that much.
and you say this after playing the RE5 demo?
hurry to the couch....for safety...nevermind the 20 zombies I need to lie down...
Do yourself a favor if you have a Wii and grab RE4. Along with Metroid it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that motion controls can work perfectly with core gaming. 15 minutes with the game and you'll be laughing at RE5's archaic controls they're THAT good.
It controls no different than Resident Evil 1...that's ONE. From the PS1. It's so cheesy to use an overcomplicated control scheme as a factor in the overall "difficulty" of a game. Guess I should be happy now that I can strafe? Running is more akin to driving a boat. You're a 360 fan so I assume you've played Dead Rising. You actually prefer the RE controls over the way Frank West controls?
Being a regular N4G member, it's really easy to be seduced to the dark side by the fanboys into hating the competition. When I bought my 360 in November, even my real life friends went so far as calling me Benedict Arnold. Who cares though. It's all good now as they bug me on the weekends to come over N play (I bought 2 360s just like I have two PS3s for online co-op/MP because I despise split-screen). It's great 1 minute playing L4D and GeoW2, and on a whim, pop in R2 or Uncharted.
the difference between gold, silver, and bronze is arbitrary too. I have played some games and had a much tougher time attaining a bronze than most silvers and a handful of golds in others.
The 360 demo has far more grain in the picture. Both are jaggy messes on a big 1080p set and as a fan of the original, I found it to be disappointing as the biggest carry over seems to be the Replicant army, not the spooky ambiance created by Alma. The engine is showing its age. Now if you had said the 360 demo plays slightly smoother I would have agreed with you. Maybe one version is definitively better on a SDTV I don't know. On a HDTV, both are virtually identical. The best thing about own...
Speaking as a 360 owner, my main criticism of MS (aside from hardware issues) has been the lack of IPs they own. MS shouldn't have been complacent in just securing former PS exclusives. They should have been paying talented developers to make new IPs from the onset. The need for 1st/2nd party devs is neglible because the end result would be the same. And I'm sure given the current economic climate, there would have been a few willing to forgo the potential of a new IP in lieu of steady income...
1) You can't have a best of... article and not include one of the most annoying shotties in the history of VG. The M3 automatic from the early Socom days was used by EVERY terrorist on Deathtrap. So cheesy, it would have even the most skilled players shaking a controller screaming "campin noob" at its user.
2) Bioshock's shotty. Not only is it upgradeable, but the ammo is too. The fully upgraded weapon with explosive buck shells is a fearsome beast, easily laying waste ...
