There. Since the 3 posters above me are arguing and OWNING the imaginary fanboys that have littered this thread, I'd thought I throw you 3 a bone.

All the consoles, All the games, All the fun!

A town is manifesting itself into the bizarre fiction of a writer and he must solve the insidious mystery before the town is completely transformed. Although I think ppl have drawn parallels to Silent Hill, it reminds me more of "In the Mouth of Madness" and Sutter Kane imagining the town Hobb's End. Which is, of course, a semi-biopic of H.P. Lovecraft and delusional people worshipping his mythos Cthulhu and the Old Ones.

inevitable rip-off/comparison of the Battlefield series (or any game featuring tanks) to the original Combat on the Atari VCS and I would've been set!! Even the forts/bases were destructible lol.

On the PS2 it was very fast and fluid. On the next gen consoles, it was much slower and unresponsive as sometimes varied combos wouldn't even register. Hope the gameplay matches the graphics this time around.

I guess you never heard of S-Video inputs or didn't realize component cables existed before the HD era? Sure to get my usual fix, the PC of yesterday was the best possible way. But that's not the question you posed. I guess Nintendo must think gamers care or else I'd be stuck using AV cables (80's technology) w/o the 480p HD setting enabled in the options. I guess then I shouldn't tell you about shrinking the picture of my HDTV to 4:3 letterbox mode to get the most out of the Wii's fuzzy reso...

You make some valid points but then profess your hatred of a particular group. I've seen just as much internet venom come from 360 fans regarding the Wii. And MUCH more in the real world since most of the worst fanboys work at retail shops like Gamestops.

And yeah there is a superfluous amount of shovelware on the PS2. But the last time I checked, the PS2 has over 3000 titles in its library and has been on the market almost a decade - the last 3yrs being sold as a last gen consol...

Always have always will. For every great game like KZ2 (apparently), they also get stuck reviewing Legendary and Soldier of Fortune. For a video review, you think IGN is gonna crank up the AI and get owned every 2 seconds? How informative would that be? Watch the video review of CODWAW and then go play it on veteran. You might be asking yourself "Is that guy Superman or do I just suck?"

those prior accomplishments wont be retroactive. "Any game that you can back up your save file externally isn't retroactive" is my general rule of thumb.

You are also wrong. Once you buy something (PSN games), you always have it and can download it 20 times if you wanted to from the PSN. You can have up to 5 different PS3s associated w/ your account download any content you've purchased. Everytime I buy/DL a PSN game, I download it to both my son's PS3 and a friend's. I've had both a bad PS3 and a HDD, and have DLed the same content like the COD4 map pack like 6-7 times, so there's no limit. Now the video service is a different beast.

Reviewers play the games on easy or normal, thus the short length. I distinctly remember reading the same thing about both Uncharted and Halo3. Each of those games took over 10+ hrs 1st playthrough on the hardest difficulty setting. Factor in trophies/achievements and one could be looking at 20-25 hours (SP). I submit the more recent CoDWaW as proof.

It worked for the SNES over the Genesis.

In the dark times, there was an ardent defender of justice. One who would act as shield and sword to things that should not be. One who in times of hopelessness would be a beacon of light to the oppressed...the innocent....Locked in eternal conflict with his nemesis POG, the two combatants struggle for control of our gaming souls.

Really he is the epitome of fanboyism. A ps3 fanatic with over 100 different accounts here. You can spot one of his many aliases by examining the post its...

Both MS and Sony have gone on record publicly "admiring" Nintendo's profit first business model. I don't see either console debuting for more than $399. Since MS was already touting the 720's potential forward compatibility, I don't think we'll see a new chip or its associated R&D. A re-designed Xenon w/ 2 gigs would be plenty powerful enough to render stable 1080p graphics @60FPS. I'm more curious to see what kind of optic drive they'll use: BR, HD-DVD, or something else and ho...

(IMO) is Sony realized they incur more cost manufacturing a BC model and get NOTHING in return. Why bother w/ BC at all from a business standpoint when the solution is staring at them in the face? In the short term, if someone wants BC, they have to keep or purchase a PS2. They make money. In the long run Sony is slowly transitioning their ps1 & ps2 catalogs over to the PSN. They're trying to curtail the used game business (or at least getting a piece of that pie) by offering a downloadab...

Like Handsome said, it IS a console that PLAYS games. Just because they're games that don't suit your personal tastes doesn't make them any less relevant.

@JRaptor - you most certainly need to add all those 3rd party exclusives. Just because Nintendo's own IPs (sales-wise) dwarf 3rd parties' sales doesn't mean their cumulative gross isn't important to the topic at hand. This spring when 4 exclusive "hardcore" games come out for the Wii - Madworld, Deadly Creatures, Hot...

Think about it. Contrary to popular opinion here, JRPGs have always been a niche genre EVERYWHERE outside of Japan. In fact, while I can name ME, Fable2, Oblivion, and Fallout3 as multi-million sellers, not 1 JRPG has sold a million. I understand MS wants a Japanese presence, but in hindsight, it doesn't make much sense to throw money at SE for exclusives. MS doesn't have a handheld, which fair or not, comprises a bulk of SE's earnings in most years. MS's core audience, the Western gamer, isn...
