About time someone reviewed the game as a RTS. I thought the same too. Throw out the Halo name, and this game gets a 6 at best. It's not that the stream-lined action is bad for a console RTS, it's the fact that the SP campaign is limited to 15 marine missions. As a RTS, it's far too short. To EVEN play as the Covenant one must play online. I would have rather they included SP campaigns for the Covenant and the Flood then worry about the graphical fidelity of cutscenes. Let's face it. After pl...
I thought the communication was nerfed in the game. Poor quality and halfway through matches, friends would lose the audio altogether. And if I remember you had to press right on the D-pad to talk anyway, making it impossible in the heat of battle to effectively communicate with your team. Never tried it with the new bluetooth though.
Heavenly Sword wasn't a launch title. However, MUA was. Note I'm not defending the article, just addressing why the author used that comparison.
Remember your/his login passwords and go under each other's Users List on the XMB of your PS3s. Initially register a new account but instead of creating said new account select the option of using an existing account. Input your ID and password and voila you're on your friend's PS3 as an account. You may have to activate the PS3 (via Acct. Management screen) for certain software. Now, on his PS3, log in to the store with your account and check the box in the right hand corner "View all d...
And I use music as a counterpoint. What...is $.99 a song too much for someone that just spent a thousand dollars for a PC? I know piracy will never go away, but I always find it humorous this sense of entitlement pirates get after buying the physical hardware and then make excuses for "stealing" software. And no I'm not accusing you of piracy Role (don't want you taking offense because this post isn't directed at you).
Respawning enemies is a gameplay mechanic of all CODs. Sorry to burst your bubble, you'll have to find another reason to hate Treyarch.
Look at VoR's post in response to tester's. He mentions "we PS3 & 360 fans" and voice runs off on another "I hate the PS3 and its fanboys" tangent. Just copy and paste any of the last hundred posts of yours and save yourself the hassle of typing. You're a broken record. And frankly, you behave the exact same way as those you hate. Judging by the bulk of your posts it's bordering on an unnatural obsession. I just wonder if you're more a Nintendo fanboy (by no means a ba...
On a 1080P set, the visual differences are slight. And what I've found lately, neither version is far and away the de facto version. The 360 may look crisper but the advantage is offset by screen tearing in it. The PS3 has less pop-in but the 360 has a steadier framerate.
This isn't 2007 and whatever system you own people, rest assured you wont be buying a completely gimped version. Anything else is nothing more than a fanboy's rant.
Man I hope more people wake up and realize the 360 has nothing to do with the demise of SE's quality. It was happening at the end of the last gen on the PS2. Like all other Japanese devs, they've rested for far too long on their laurels - porting, remaking, and sadly sometimes simply re-packaging the same garbage over & over. With the horrible sales of Echoes, it finally looks like the Japanese are starting to realize this. They rush out their new IPs (for financial reasons) before they'...
As a multi-console owner, I have no problem admitting the 360 version overall is a little better. But not to the extent that this site is proclaiming. Why isn't the DLC mentioned since it definitely levels out the playing field? Like Crab said, look at MS's recent strategy with DLC and tell me it shouldn't factor into the decision (GTA4, TR:U, and FO3). And if we're going to do a fair analysis, why isn't there a box for AUDIO? A definite sound advantage for those of us with a good Home Theatr...
I know I'm in the minority, but all Sony needs to do is put both PS1($5.99) and PS2($9.99) games on the PSN - like MS does w/ XB1 titles. Just give me the opportunity to to play them legally on my PS3 via the HDD and the PSP via a memory stick. It'd be nice if PS1/PS2 titles were re-coded for HD resolutions and widescreen support, but not necessary.
Looks like this summer, we'll have 2 good sandbox anti-hero games to play. I usually avoid hyping praise for over-the-top brutality (as a sales pitch to kids), but this and Raven's Wolverine are definitely upping the ante on the visceral thrill of dismemberment. Any word when Radical is planning to release the demo to the masses over XBL/PSN?
They used Sony's design for the L2/R2 which IMO is the worst feature of the DS3. Too bad as I think it's a super idea.
To the PS3 fans, isn't this a good thing if it helps bring over new fans to Sony's shiny black beast? If someone hates the DS3, shouldn't there be a reliable alternative so they could enjoy the system and its games? Who knows, today's 360 owner could be tomorrow's PS3 buddy on your friend's list.
People, to reiterate, this is a GOOD thing and hopeful...
First you laughably make an idiotic statement that we're all too poor to afford an HDTV. Sounds like you're the one that recently bought your first HDTV. Congrats. But I have 4 HDTVs in my house (52" 1080p LCD, 32" 1080p LCD, 37" 720/1080i Plasma, and a 30" 720/1080i CRT). Yeah I thought the picture tube was initially a mistake but my 11 yr old uses it w/ his PS3 and I need not worry about fingerprints :) Like many others here, I'm sure I'm not the only multiple owner - ...
Awesome facepalm @ RTS4Noobs
Funny since I've been telling them to find a copy of AvP for the xbox since Ensemble copied the control scheme tit for tat ($50 cheaper too). I guess I'm the only one a little disappointed, NOT BY THE DEMO, but because according to GI you can only play as marines in the SP mode. You'll have to go online to play as the Covenant in the Skirmish mode. RTSs are absolutely the one genre I prefer OFFLINE. No covenant? No mention of the Flood either. I guess an unlockable SP Flood campaign is a pipe...
Initially, you make a point we all understand. More games = less money. But you hate "used" games. Huh? Buy used = saves money. End of your conundrum. Buying used is the perfect way to be a multi-console owner on a budget. Used games are just as good as new if you're careful. I'll switch out the boxart, request NEW jewel cases from GS employees, look over multiple copies for the least scratched disk, grab the least used instruction manual of the bunch, etc... I guarantee you wouldn...
But calling him an outright racist name is uncalled for - you sir are reported.
On topic, I've never had either my PS3s or my 360s brick from a software update. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but never has to me or any friend from either PSN/XBL list. Always seems like a small problem that the trolls blow out of proportion.
lifted the exact control scheme from AvP:Extinction? They're identical, which isn't a bad thing by any means. I recommend it if you really like Halo Wars (it's a BC compatible xbox1/ps2 sku).
If it sells a million plus, then please go ahead and credit the Halo logo for the sales. If everyone who buys the game loves the streamlined action, then the credit needs to go to Zono/EA. All too often this gen, the last game in a genre gets all the accolades while we never give a nod to t...
It'd be like buying Civilization and being forced to play solely as Ghandi. We already know how the series has ended so it ends up disappointing that we don't have SP campaigns for the Covenant AND the Flood.
Hell, even Halo2 had you play as the Arbiter - which I might add was a stroke of masterful genius on Bungie's part. It's why for me I never considered HW to be "milking the franchise". Bungie created a wonderful mythos that Ensemble disappointingly failed to capita...
