Wow because I'm not Japanese I can't comment on the situation? Do you sincerely believe the console market is healthy there? Sony in the 6th gen sold almost as many units by themselves in Japan as the entire 7th gen did (24mil vs 25mil)? How can 3rd parties justify larger budgets if the install base isn't there?

Demon's Souls, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, White Knight Chronicles 2, and Pandora's Tower were all JRPGs published by Nintendo and Sony...

Then please quit trying to denigrate a game because it may not release on your preferred console. What I read is you trying to play the white knight altruistic angle while implying something else. You're not fooling anyone because I've had several years to discern your bias. Just admit it - the parity clause is garbage. It's ok, you can still like MS!

I thought Xbox fans were the champions of consumer choice though? Least that's what I heard about EA access everytime it got brought up. It should be up to us, right? So you'd rather pay $30 bucks a year to play old sports games but no to smaller games because they don't appeal to you? Or have a $10 million dollar budget? Thank god you don't speak for this XB1 owner.

Hell yeah, my 2 XB1 purchases this fall, MCC and this. Looks like a return to form for Insomniac.

Not in the States they aren't.

The Last Story? Published by Xseed after NOA passed. What about Pandora's Tower? Nope, Xseed published that one too. Surely Xenoblade Chronicles right? Well sorta, only after Gamestop help foot the bill. And how did that work that? NOA & GS printed a limited number of copies, sold out, but GS kept a few thousand copies to gouge customers for $90 used. Later GS secretly printed more but kept selling it at the rare price. After they w...

Didn't they just release a new ARPG for the Vita, Judas Code? And I believe they're developing PS Nova as well for Sega.

But yeah I want a new Star Ocean too.

Oh please MS is NOT starting from scrath. It's their 3rd console in 13 years. I appreciate your optimism but the actual math presents a very dire situation:

1st week sales
Xbox - 123,000
360 - 63,000
XB1 - 23,000
Those numbers should be opposite.

You can't blame previous management either. They obtained several, high profile exclusive JRPGs from the likes of Mistwalker, Square, and Tri-Ace. They got high profile actio...

That's just plain stupid. The PS360 were capable of producing some mighty fine looking games and the WiiU is more powerful than either of them. PC ports of those PS360 titles ran great unless the devs shortchanged the process. I have 2 gaming rigs and both can play the same software, just at different settings. See what I'm getting at, the gap is more narrow between the WiiU and the PS4 then what it was last gen with PC and the HD twins. The gap in power between my two rigs is even gr...

Lab, it's the same way for Xb1. Both have had uninspiring lineups in regards to AAA products for the first calendar year. Sony gave us Knack, Killzone SF, InFamous, MLB the Show, tLoU Remastered, DriveClub, and LBP3. Three of them are cross platform on the PS3. XB1 had DR3, Ryse, TF, Sunset Overdrive, Forza 5, FH2, and MCC. Of those 7 IPs, 3 are cross platform to the PC. See that, both offered 7 AAAs with 3 of them actually multi-platform. Arguing over which of them is better just reveals...

agreed. The biggest problem with Dragon Age 2 was the 2 at the end. Of course I'm alluding to EA's incessant meddling.

The 2 should've been dropped, the game re-named DA: Kirkwall and positioned as a stand alone expansion ($39.99). If that had happened, media sites might be hyping DA: Inquisition like Destiny right now.

Randy Pitchford might be a douche, but I'm still looking forward to the Homeworld remasters.

Good for you man. I love PC gaming but not quite sure about Steam machines. Allowing 3rd party vendors to clutter the landscape with all sorts of models and pricepoints is a detriment to Valve's original vision (bringing PC gaming to the masses). The Linux based OS also means a significant portion of its library won't be playable as well. Sure one can dual boot Windows, but again, there goes the simplicity inherent to its concept. I won't bore you with what I think they should'...

I wholeheartedly agree. 3rd party should be 3rd party. Exclusives should be the realm of console manufacturers and/or developers who prefer the open platform of the PC (lower costs, no royalties). There would be a helluva lot less fanboyism and controversy.

No because my friend if you watch the kickstarter vid, Parabole never designed Kona exclusively around VR. They just felt it would be a natural fit.

They could release a Gears Trilogy remaster next year to give MS a nice 1-2 holiday punch. Then in 2016, Gears 4 with the inevitable Halo Essentials collection (Reach, ODST, and Wars). Can't think of a btter way to make up ground than releasing multiple iterations of MS' heaviest hitters in consecutive years.

I own every gaming platform under the sun except OUYA. Did you care to know that? Has my point been made? Or should we be dancing in the streets and doing cartwheels listening to David Bowie because you own a PS3? Maybe we should organise a N4G Harlem shuffle?

great console collection yup. can't wait either, but best ever in existence? No that mantra would go to several publishers on Steam. You're a PC gamer right? So buying the entire Valve library for $50 isn't a better value? Or Bethesda selling 35 games for $70? Or even Ubi selling 7 ACs for $35? Or the Star Wars collection for $50? How about all 5 Splinter Cells for $23 (Pandora Tomorrow isn't available on Steam obviously)? These are all bundles/collections that I own and paid...

How? By copying the last few years of G4TV's live E3 coverage? Or by neutering the excitement of a live event with hammy pre-scripted TV bits? I fail to see to see how they "mastered" anything except not showing up for industry events. I'm sorry that's wrong, they put up booths I hear.

@hobbyist

Yet every iteration did exactly the same thing, play the games. My PSP2000 sure as hell wasn't better than later models but I still could play the newest games all the same.

If Nintend announces this new model as a way of shortening the traditional lifespan of hanhelds in order to compete with the smartphone industry, I have no problem with it. But that's not what they're doing now is it?

4221d ago 5 agree0 disagreeView comment

No it shouldn't. This is a handheld not a smartphone. You'd think a company who tried this very same concept years ago on consoles (Ram PAK) and failed miserably would understand fragmenting your install base is a terrible idea.

The problem is fantards were too busy gloating over the Vita's deathknell that they didn't realize the 3DS was on pace to sell 80 million units less than its predecessor. I knew once Nintendo, on the heels of releasing the likes of Pok...
