Xbox version sold a million. Nearly 7 million copies shipped were on PS4. PC has accounted for zero sales as the game doesn't ship until the Fall. What does this tell us:
A) Japanese third parties can find Western success on a Sony console
B) Xbox should be considered for a Western release as platform sales cover the cost of porting to it.
C) PC should always receive a version as it provides an evergreen effect for many 3rd party IPs (we see it most pr...
spot on. tLoU2 and a holiday price cut ensures another 15-20 mil in 2019. Sony will reveal PS5 in Feb/Mar 2020 with a Fall release date. Nintendo will release a Switch Lite in the summer of 2020 with MS following Sony in 2021. We won't hear anything about PS5 until 2019 holiday season is over. Makes no business sense. There will be no need for mid gen refreshes, just slim versions.
where's your analysis of Nintendo? They ABSOLUTELY failed the 8th gen. WiiU aborted. Sold 90 million less than its predecessor - Nintendo dropped it like a lead zeppelin in 4 years. How about the 3DS? The worst performing Nintendo handheld of all-time - took 5 revisions to sell 72 million. Tried to fleece their loyal fanbase by initially charging $250 for that POS. 7th gen totals - Ninty 260 mil (156 mil DS/104 mil Wii) to 86 mil now (72 mil 3DS/14 mil WiiU). Now I'm glad they turned...
That may be ok for you, but I'm disappointed by the aspect ratio on OG Xbox titles. Letterbox sucks in a 16:9 world. Not to mention the fog, low AI count, poor textures, etc.... Red Dead, Gears 2&3, and Fallout3 look awesome in 4k, but I think the dropoff after the PS360 era is substantial enough this makes the case for remakes on consoles. No doubt I'm grateful for Morrowind and Conker ports, let alone enhanced, but Bethesda (notice I'm not blaming MS) could've coasted ...
Valve hasn't released a single game, produced or published, this entire gen. Neither has Blizzard. IDK Valve would even bother. All their best game designers have left over the last 5 years. Maybe Gabe's been snorting coke over at Notch's mansion who knows......
first impressions...MS just wrecked themselves for the entire gen with the Xbox 1's reveal. They didn't have the studios to produce enough quality exclusives to overcome it either like Sony did with the PS3. Remember the EGM cover in which a PS3 was pictured with tomatoes being thrown at it? Ha good times. If then was now, they'd have to picture the X1 in a swimming pool of ketchup!
exactly, using your "logic" what's the point of illustrating a more expensive console that came out a year later than its competitor would run a 6th month port of a game better?
HINT: It's only newsworthy if it ran worse. You're too busy defending Switch and X1 to care. But babble on amigo, no one on the net cares anyway. White Knights never seem to understand this
no offense, but I agree more with monkey. Pirates always extoll the virtues of emulation, justify it by placating to some altruistic moral code we like to believe we possess and exhibit. Truth is, most people do it to steal what they can't afford. Plain and simple. I've heard all the excuses before.
You bring up legal emulation as a means to enjoy your games enhanced. Here's my experience. Bought a Wii. Bought the software. Downloaded Dolphin. Downloaded anot...
Nope, sadly it was the coding. I played the crap outta it on the 360 and later bought it off Steam figuring I'll give it another go with a better framerate. Same slowdowns in the same parts, obviously not as bad in some spots, but you know what I mean. Chalk it up to a small budget and maybe a little inexperience because it was nonetheless a great little game if you like the zombie genre.
Fast forward to the present, both issues solved, I'm looking forward to the s...
The WiiU is the worst console of all-time. 14.3 million sold. Discontinued after 4 years. Abysmal 3rd party support. They quietly left the console business, parading around a handheld successor as if it were a console. We could include the Saturn, the Jaguar, 3DO too and make valid points for all. But Nintendo came off the 7th gen with all cylinders firing (260 mill units sold) to the 8th gen with 85 mil (WiiU/3DS) so far. It's taken 5 3DS revisions just to hit respectable numbers. I woul...
Glad I picked up a 360 copy of Red Dead a couple months ago with the X. This 4K patch quickly moves it up the pecking order of my backlog. Gears 2 was a given, but a little surprised they updated Portal 2 over L4D2 and Star Wars rather than Halo Reach. Portal 2 is fantastic though
for anyone having trouble co-oping. use the squad function. Create a squad have everyone join it. When you log on join the squad session at the title screen. That way you're automatically grouped up with mates from the onset. Just make sure everyone else but the quest starter has departed before the quest starter does. That way the whole group leaves together. Slowpokes at the smithy can always depart after the group leaves. Only use the SOS flare during those annoying cutscene missions. ...
neither did the WiiU. So can we finally admit the Switch IS the successor to the 3DS and Ninty has quietly left the console biz? Didn't think so
I hope so. There isn't a single IP aside from Pokemon that could be considered a system seller in the West. Even Metroid 4, the Ninty game I'm looking forward to the most historically sells low. Not saying these aren't great games, they just don't move the barometer like the big boys. I betcha we see a Smash bros. deluxe edition sometime around summer and if Pokemon is delayed probably Animal Crossing in the fall
which gen though? 8 or 9?
gen 8 totals: gen 9 totals:
PS4 - 74 mil Switch - 11 mil
XB1 - 36 mil PS5 - 0
WiiU - 14 mil Nxtbox - 0
As someone who bought the WiiU I'm certainly not giving Nintendo a free pass. They're already dead last this gen
Popcorn for that little bit of info? Sure ya just don't want a hershey's kiss?
no he referenced both, Demon's is Sony and Namco controls Dark. His comment and yours would make sense if Sony owned both but ported over Dark and not Demon. We safely can assume any Souls fan would like a remastered version of the original at this point. I'm alluding that, maybe just maybe Sony has plans to revisit the IP down the road. They however have no control over what Namco does with the Dark IP. A remastered collection for a launch PS5 would sell a lot of systems. Started ...
Sony doesn't own the Dark Souls IP. Namco decides what to port and when. I'd rather wait for a DS/Bloodborne remastered collection on PS5. Imagine a 4K/60 HDR version that adds in the rumored missing content from Demon's plus fixes BB's framerate issues. That would be exquisite
I've got about 17 years of PC gaming under my belt. PC gaming 2018 is the worst it's ever been! 80's, 90's, and 2000's were all WAY better eras. Nowadays you're essentially paying $300+ on GPUs to brute strength console sloppy seconds. There are no exclusives from triple AAA publishers; they'd rather make console games and treat us like red-headed stepchildren with half-assed ports. Blizzard and CD Red make console games and Valve would rather be Netflix. You ch...
Ironically, they "dudded" themselves out of the console biz. 3 of their last 4 consoles were commercial failures. They masqueraded a handheld as a "hybrid" console to conceal this fact. What's more hilarious; apparently not only NInty fanboys have bought this hook, line, and sinker but as well as most Sony fanatics. Nintendo might as well release 2 systems a gen because they are the new "Teflon Don"
