disagree, Google isn't any bigger in the market now than MS was when it entered the console space. They have even less experience than MS in terms of gaming. Google won't be competing with the old guard at all. They'll be trying to lure mobile gamers to an Ouya type of media device. Streaming mobile games could be entirely feasible but we're talking different audiences. There's room for 4 but it'll be years before the other 3 feel any impact.

Agreed. Aside from some indie development, this isn't really an issue in the West as most publishers port to most available systems. Most of us can understand the financial limitations these start up devs have and how it affects their decisions. If the IP is a success these games usually find their way to other platforms. But this has been an ongoing issue in Japan for decades.

In today's climate, it seems 3rd party publishers have 2 choices: choose domestic revenue...

don't you mean "sounds" like it will be a lot of fun? Jesting aside, if they can achieve that gameplay experience from the original Deus Ex game in a open world setting, this is going to be something special. Hope the next rumored Bioshock follows the same route too

It is humorous. Know why? Last gen MS blamed Sony's inferior network as the reason MS didn't support crossplay in the 7th gen. Ironic they're now partnering with a more dysfunctional infrastructure in the 8th gen. I wonder what gives?

Where's my math? Where's yours? Vita has sold 5 million in Japan. Back in January, 14th to be precise, PS4 passed 6 million sales in Japan. Slowly follow along, 5+6=11. 11 million units COMBINED. According to your own post, 24 million 3DS units were sold in Japan. "Need I remind you the 3DS outsold BOTH the PS4 and Vita COMBINED x3." So 11x3=33. Where the hell in this universe does 33=24? Spare me the hyperbole excuse when they you start spouting off alleged "facts...

awesome. I like this tidbit especially, "There are a whole bunch of different things like that. There's one where you'll also be able to be a stunt driver." Yes sir, I'll take a plate of crazy taxi with some stuntman on the side. Sounds delicious

u got fleeced. Should've just bought a Switch outright. Thank god for Hollow Knight or I wouldn't have turned on my Switch all year.

Yeah thank god MS spared us another Crackdown 3 trailer. Oh wait.....

Hard to say, Sony left no chance though. I doubt any 3rd party publisher would've given him the creative freedom to make the games he wants to. Kojima-san has only worked on two platforms - MS' MSX computer system in the 80's and Sony consoles. He doesn't seem to like Nintendo hardware so that discounts them. He probably wanted a publisher who could not only globally market his game but also very prominently in Japan too, given the very public and messy divorce from Konami. So...

yeah, if they were only young. Every time I see a studio head from Playground he's a grey-haired, middle-aged man.

maybe not a 9 for me but a solid 8. They showed in the background a streaming service is in the works and touting GamePass' success on stage, it's clear moving forward subscriptions and services will continue to be a focal point for the company. But it's nice they assuaged fears of the Xbox platform by acknowledging its successor is in the pipeline. Gabe Newell essentially said years ago that no matter how what we put in the cloud we'll still need a client device to access it....

MS this whole gen has been a screw up, but Sony really disappointed you with the PS4Pro? LOL VR hasn't taken off industry wide but I don't see you criticizing Valve or Occulus either. Nintendo? They killed off their 8th gen console so they could hype up their 9th gen handheld. So spare us the white knight vibe in the future, Nintendo doesn't deserve a seat at the table (in an article about next gen consoles).

why have a game centered around WW2 if you don't aim for historical accuracy? Pretty fucking dumb if ya ask me. You could do any number of conflicts, fictitious or real, ranging from Vietnam through Persian Gulf, include women, and no one would bat an eye.

As for me, I just want a BF that doesn't suck. Dice's last 2-3 games were shit. Crappy MP, 5 hour SP campaigns that play themselves all compromised by their cinematic approach of their overrated engine. I wo...

I personally see the service struggling to gain traction like PS + did before on the PS3 when MP was free. It's a good value but getting consumers to subscribe to an optional service and staying subbed is a difficult task. Really think next gen MS needs to combines Gold and Game Pass together. Solves MS's conundrum too; Xbox gamers pay for gold/PC gamers get MP for free but now too can sub Gold for the game pass.

I absolutely agree too that MS needs to focus on uni...

it would be a mistake. Why revert to a one market focus strategy when you're only competitive in that market? You're dominant in the other two. It was a painful transition during the early PS3 days becoming a global brand. Expensive hardware during a recession didn't help. April's 2018 NPD leak has yielded proof though that their global strategy is a resounding success.

For Sony, the mobile sector in the short term would be a mistake. But no doubt, it'...

honestly, I don't think that's sound business sense at all. Why hurt 2019 holiday sales with an E3 announcement of a next gen system? A temporary pricecut for 2018 coupled with the plethora of exclusive content coming ensures another 15-17 million this year. A permanent price drop in 2019 plus more software will net similar results. Just keep showing games! Do exactly what they did with the PS4 reveal; announce it in March so people can use income tax to pre-order it/pay it off throu...

because just like today with these mid-gen refreshes not all people saw the value in it. I think I bought my RAM pak with one of Turoks as a bundle. It didn't really have the total support of many developers so the list of enhanced titles was even smaller when you factor in your own personal tastes.

I doubt we see a mid-gen refresh anytime soon if the PS5 and nXbox hit the 4K/60 HDR threshold. The jump to 8K would be a waste of a company's resources, given the expec...
