Spider-Man, RDR2, and Dragon Quest XI are my main 3. I'm basing the TR game on the previous entry, which, while it scored well, I thought was a steaming pile of forgettable nonsense. Some of the story moments and animations were cringeworthy. I can't trust game reviews for the next TR.
To sum up, the games I'm getting are based on previous games in the series and/or the developer. Based on this also, I'm not getting TR.
Story, storytelling, character development, animation, pacing, etc., are all better in Uncharted. While TR has more expansive gameplay due to its hubworld, it doesn't necessarily make it a better game in every other way. The thing for me is, and I've found as I've played a lot of games and gotten a bit older is this, most games are going to have good mechanics. I'm passing entirely, myself. DQXI, Spider-Man, RDR2, and possibly a multiplayer game out of the bunch will keep me busy. What are you picking up?

I agree with you. I thought the reboot showed promise. RotTR did nothing for me and was one of the most forgettable games in recent memory, for me at least. The storytelling and character development were terrible. The mechanics worked well enough, but I don't play a single player game for the mechanics. Had to force myself to finish. I'm passing on this game, way too many games of higher quality coming out this year.
They should not bow down to fans. A creative vision shouldn't be compromised for whiny babies. I personally prefer third person games like TLoU, Uncharted, and GoW, but every once and while you get a Bioshock, and I wouldn't have that game any other way. Let them make their damn game and STFU. This isn't a Fallout or Elder Scrolls, it'll have a better, more well constructed story. They're doing forst person for a reason, and I look forward to seeing it play out.

For me, I'd rather wait 2-3 years for GoW Part 2 rather than wait 6 months or so for DLC, then an added 2-3 years on top of that.
Don't get me wrong, if this was a complete Venom questline that lasted 7-10 hours, I'd say count me in. A few suits and a little side story doesn't quite get me excited. I guess we'll have to see what it is.
Can't wait for Spider-Man! I hate DLC though. I'll stick with the main game. Hell, I'll probably have everything beaten and 100% by the time that date rolls around. I'll be knee deep in DQ XI by then. I like developers to make their game, and then move on to the next game. I hate DLC, it just makes us wait longer for their next big title.

If it weren't for SpiderMan coming out next Friday, I'd start this up right away on Tuesday. I've been waiting for DQ to come back to PS since VIII (one of my favorite JRPGs). I'm glad the reviews are very positive so far.
I understand that, I know it has deep lore, but I don't really like reading when I play games. I spend an hour or two reading per day, I don't want it in my games as much.
I'd say I die less, on average, than most gamers in these type of games. That being said, they just don't do it for me. I finished Demon's Souls, but I didn't finish BloodBorne. Gameplay-wise, the games are tight, well balanced. The difficulty is high, but you just have to learn from your mistakes. If I were into racing games still, these games would give me a reason to buy an Xbox. How do the mechanics work exactly, is it kind of open world like Burnout Paradise?
Anyway, these devs have done a great job with the visuals. I'm always impressed by the attention to detail the Forza, GT, and F1 games have. I don't know how they do it, when I was getting my game design degree, I was bored to tears trying to create a damned Toyota! Kudos, hopefully they find succes...
Considering the average playtime for the Arkham games is 13 hours, I think 20 is quite the deal.
MS says they're going to give NT creative freedom and a means to express themselves, and I certainly hope that's the case. Unfortunately, based on MS's past, I don't see that happening. If NT makes something successful, MS may make them milk the franchise, draining any creative freedom (Gears, Halo, Forza for the millionth time as an example).
