I'm not far into the game, but I find I don't like it as much as the PS3 versions for a handful of reasons I've never seen anyone else mention.
Mainly, it's the art design: hyper-realism works great on a big screen, but on a small screen, I find it difficult to focus. The lack of clear, distinct borders makes things more difficult.
I also find the menu interfaces very clunky. Why can't we use buttons?
And I find I have the...
What I don't get is if they're making the expansion "based on player feedback," they're still not including the very simple, easy-to-implement feature I've seen people begging for off and on for more than a decade: customizable leaders.
It wouldn't be that hard to randomize traits/personalities, add a basic character creator so you could make your own unique leader, and so that other leaders could, you know, die. It never made sense for the same ...
I'm opposed to MMOs period. As for what happens to the timeline, Bioware can't keep their damned lore straight inside a single game, let alone across multiple titles, so I wouldn't hold my breath. The fact that they don't want to continue the timeline speaks volumes for their lack of imagination, ambition and ability.
The only game I'd tolerate not set after ME3 would be something with RTS elements, either a full-on RTS game (similar to the Halo Wars spin-...
...No, it doesn't. It really, really doesn't. Not even if we limit the medium to games.
Of course, there are probably legions of gamers who don't play older games, don't read any books, don't watch any decent film, etc., etc. ready to disagree. Sometimes I envy their abysmally low standards.
But not often.
So... good news? I'm still waiting for the rest of Starcraft 2. As much as I used to love Blizzard, I've been sorely disappointed by every game they've made in the past decade. I have my doubts as to whether or not Diablo 3 can restore my faith, particularly when all the other developers I've learned to distrust (Bioware, Square Enix, etc.) seem to have made it their mission in life to drive their respective brand names into the ground.
Consoles MIGHT have a good decade left. That's more a matter for the big three to decide than, you know, us gamers. And from the looks of things, Microsoft and Nintendo have given up on this generation and are looking ahead to the next; does anyone really think Sony won't follow suit?
Regardless, the one thing I can say for certainty is that no matter how long the future of current consoles, the Unreal Engine's future is far less appetizing.
It's over 21,000 votes, now. With the game less than one week old, and the poll limited to people who, you know, are aware it exists and take the time to sign up for an account and vote... it's a HUGE number.
And they've got an overwhelmingly legitimate point: Mass Effect 3 is a great game 99% of the time... yet it delivers the single worst "ending" the gaming industry has seen in the past 20 years. It's unforgivable.
Either stop tal...
There a lot of high-functioning bullshit right here.
No one is immune to criticism. If you're making an entertainment product, just about the least-classy thing you can do is lash out at critics. This is even worse than Molyneux pre-emptively attacking critics of Fable 2 by saying it wasn't a game "for" gamers.
Anyone feel like commenting on the actual article?
The idea is that when you connect a Vita to a PS3, the content linked to your PSN account is double-checked between versions. This way, the system will "know" whether or not you are trying to transfer (or even have access to) content that is not linked with your account.
The pertinent issue is: what does this information EFFECT?
If you hook your Vita up to a friends PS3, will it rec...
Precisely.
But to get widespread appeal, most developers feel like they need to cater to that demographic. Shame so many gamers have such low standards.
It's 2012. What's your excuse?
Sad, but true. Both Square and Enix were great developers back in the day, and produced tons of top-tier games. Square-Enix has yet to produce ONE decent game, yet still manage to retain the reputation of the old company because of their name.
It's pathetic.
I'd pay $10 for ending DLC. Honestly, if you care one whit about Mass Effect, or roleplaying games in general, you cannot be happy with the endings.
None of those are particularly hard to find. And don't exactly link back to stuff in prior games. Actual easter-eggs are things like refund-guy, and the guy who married his dead brother's wife. You know, the little NPC stories told in the background of all three games.
And regarding the Tali/Garrus stuff... Christ. ME1 and ME2 were... tolerable, but any "relationship" dialog in ME3 is just... absolutely awful. I cringed so hard I split a lip.
Famitsu is held as the definitive Japanese review source for International gamers simply because it's pretty much the ONLY source we have for Japanese reviews. When it comes to Japanese games, we here about Famitsu scores almost all the time; once in a while, we'll get a Dengeki score.
This is the same reason Western gaming "journalism's" big names are, well, big names. It's not because of any inherent quality... it's just that they're the pl...
You know, some people have made some truly fantastic Tali fanart. I'm sure they would have let Bioware use it free-of-charge in Mass Effect 3 if only they had asked.
I agree. But the Assassins Creed games have always played fast and loose with history, so it seems a bit silly to expect too much from them.
I think the key thing to consider re: setting is how the gameplay mechanics will evolve to take advantage of the (drastically) different setting. As you said, even the largest cities in America at that time don't offer much to appeal to traditional AC gameplay. To accommodate this change, we'll need several sets of entirely new m...
unnumbered possibilities?
Assassin's Creed 3 beginning a new trilogy?
American Revolution the biggest setting?
...It's all so stupid my head hurts from reading it.
All I really have to say is... IF Japan's game development scene is "doomed," then so is the rest of the industry.
But, really, I ought to just leave this topic alone: I can only tolerate so much bigotry per week. Doctor's orders.
The Turks.
All other henchmen are utterly forgettable. Unless Saemon ****ing Haevarian counts.
