To be fair, there are plenty of valid reasons to be concerned for ME3's quality.

Of course, the article in question is pure, hit baiting drivel. No question there.

The script leaked, huh?

I don't really think anyone is playing the game for the story. It's not exactly groundbreaking. It's the execution, the delivery, the presentation--all that spiffy stuff that can't be carried over in text--that draws us in.

No, it really, really shouldn't. If you're incapable of discerning the difference between objective and subjective statements, that's YOUR problem that YOU need to fix--don't blame it on the rest of the world.

Let me take a guess before reading....

1) Writing
2) Voice acting
3) Stability
4) Game design (quest structure, etc.)
5) Combat

Why those 5? Because you'd be hard pressed to do worse than Skyrim in any of those respects without calling your game Oblivion.

Yeah, that's it. One of the few times in games where I've thought, "finally, they're getting these 3D RPGs to look as good as the old 2D ones." Quite an achievement.

Really makes me wish Wizards of the Coast was still licensing out Forgotten Realms stuff to competent studios for games. I'd kill to see a game with a setting as rich as Shadows of Amn (and combat as deep, and magic as impressive) rendered in 3D in a big open world.

I just found the... what's it called... I can't remember. The giant cavern with red nirnroot. The "Underdark" of Skyrim.

100+ hours into the game.

Incredible.

Torchlight was decent, but nowhere near as good as some people make it out to be. Seriously, if you think it's great/revolutionary, play some of the older, classic RPGs--you'll be blown away.

The whole "PC gaming is better than consoles BECAUSE MODS" is as stupid now as it ever was. Yes, tool kits are nice, but they only add to games--they don't make or break the experience. Articles like this feed on the same "PC fanboy" mentality that blinds ...

I've got a 3DS, DSi and PSP I could sell.

Too bad it's Canada only.

I'd probably keep the DSi and 3DS... the latter, you know, just in case it turns around.

Anyone know how much a PSP-2000 would go for trade-in wise at Gamestop? I checked ebay a moment ago... there are hardly any PSPs for sale, and the prices are... pretty awful (as in LOW).

Really. Fighting games are just about the only genre left that can sustain itself based purely on its gameplay mechanics. To such a degree that many fans of the genre start to foam at the mouth if anyone dares point out that they're only paying for one aspect of a game.

But, hey, let's not go there.

I don't think it's about people wanting to see more new things as much as it is about people wanting to see less old things. Do we really need this much Mario? Does anyone?

I love how bioware morality always swivels between equating polite, self-righteousness with "good," and being rude with "evil."

And by love, I very obviously mean "deplore."

Interesting read.

I do hate it, though, when anyone--but particularly people involved in the industry--moan about how bad storytelling in games is, and how it's slowly improving. Sure, storytelling is fairly bad NOW, but that hasn't always been the case. It really displays just how ignorant they are of the medium they're involved in.

I doubt anyone will remember any of those games in 5 years, let alone 25. None of 'em are nearly so memorable as the games we remember NOW from 10, 15, even 20 years ago.

A good part of that is because modern games simply don't take as many risks as they used to--they can't afford to--and that more conservative design philosophy lends itself toward less remarkable titles. In the end, we don't remember games for their visual aesthetic, or challenge, or even for...

To summarize the review: the story is an awful trainwreck, but the SUPER AWEOMSE combat system from FFXIII is just as SUPER AWESOME this time because Square Enix was SUPER AWESOME and didn't change it. At all.

Which, I suppose, is great news if you loved that SUPER AWESOME battle system. For the rest of us, it means that this turd looks like a piece of **** from every angle.

I've done multiple in-depth studies on my own, and discovered (quite conclusively) that there is a 100% correlation between playing games and aging.

It is, therefore, entirely within the realm of possibility that gaming may be one of the fundamental (if not leading) cause of DEATH.

It's probably XIII-3.

Of course, the most important thing to realize is that it'll probably be released, whatever it is, before Versus XIII.

I have many things against the idea.

First and foremost is a matter of setting--America is new, and (particularly early on) our cities were small, short hovels. Can you imagine playing an Assassin's Creed game where the tallest buildings are 3 stories high?

I don't see it happening.

An American Revolution setting would require a more rural game world... wherease all of the previous games have utilized (and, in fact, require) densely p...

I'd say no... but you probably are. Most of us have a problem with the fact that Square Enix has ingored narrative AND story in favor of highly polished visual aesthetics.
