Er, Persona is one of the higher-profile, mainstream RPG series out there. Or at least it has been since the wildly popular Persona 3.
If you didn't expect it to top the charts, that just means you haven't been paying attention.
For several years.
CivV is a great game and all, but the expansion is about as imaginative as dry toast. Remember Beyond the Stars? That's what a Civ expansion needs to do: expand the timeline.
The maintenance is necessary. The EU PSN store needs a -major- overhaul.
It was already a joke with XIII-2, the sequel literally -no one- wanted to a game most people didn't even like to begin with.
My most missed franchises are Legacy of Kain, Freespace, Xenosaga, Suikoden and Wild Arms.
Well, my top 5.
Too many great game series have fallen by the wayside in favor of generic blah.
It makes Chirico sad. Look closely: you can see the tears welling in his eyes.
Everyone wants Xilia to get localized.
I don't think I'd ever call Tales Of a top-tier franchise (high tier, yeah, but not the top) but in terms of how prolific it is, I'd say it's the single most consistently good franchise in gaming history.
You know, when the first Hybrid Pack came out, I gave 'em the benefit of the doubt. I said, "It's great you're working on a PS3 game. I understand it's hard. I'll gladly buy your little demo to help you develop a full game."
After three consecutive Macross Hybrid packs, I'm done.
Screw you, hybrid packs. Screw you.
First, I want an FFV remake with brand-new sprites and background art, plus new music (with the original music selectable). Just like the Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 4 remakes.
Then, I want an FFVI remake with brand-new sprites and background art, plus new music (with the original music selectable). Just like the Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 4 remakes.
Then and only then would I want an FFVII remake. With brand-new sprites replacing the fugly old 3D models, and new back...
Goddamn are you stupid.
And for the record, an immature post is really the only way to respond to a post that is both immature AND stupid.
I can't say I was too terribly interested in too many of the games on display. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by Larian's new RPG (Divinity: Original Sin). They've got a solid track record, and their new (isometric!) RPG looks to have a TON of complexity.
The big titles I was anticipating really weren't on show at all--BGEE, Persona, Versus XIII, etc.--so what really impressed me the most ended up being smaller items.
For example, that 3...
That's... a really good idea.
It would probably be really difficult to program, though, as there'd have to be different animations for both the caltrops being tossed/landing and the people tripping... on every conceivable piece of terrain. It would be a lot of work.
But TOTALLY worth it.
Generally speaking, though, I think AC has pretty much run the gambit on weapons. At least while maintaining a veneer of realism--just look at how si...
well, to be fair, if not for this kind of news, Versus 13 wouldn't get ANY news, period.
I'm not saying it's vaporware.
Just that, you know, it's equally substantial to it.
There are several 3DS games I'd like to get my hands on.
Shame Nintendo region-locked the console.
Do you not understand what the words "motion control" mean, theDecay? The cursor moves (read: is controlled) by the movements of your hand (read: motion). That is motion control.
And derp, you drooling moron, a mouse is not like a sword. It's 2D motion control, not 3D motion control.
Learn what words mean before you start frothing at the mouth like an imbecile.
The better point is that there have been a lot of JRPGs this generation, and many of them have been quite good.
The "state of the JRPG" is, now, the same as it has been this generation: the market has shifted from home consoles to handhelds... and is stronger than ever because of it.
We've seen a staggering number of fantastic IPs (The World Ends With You, Infinite Space, Nier, Resonance of Fate, Fate, etc.), continuations of storied franchises ...
We've had perfectly responsive motion control in games for decades.
It's called a mouse.
They've been made increasingly obsolete in recent years as developers demonstrate a preference for reflexive and responsive controller input instead.
I agree with the list. But there is one glaring omission: Flower. How many other games let you play as Wind? That's about as unique as these things come.
Too much investment for too little return.
But it is telling that they're actually required to consider it.
When's this thing coming out, anyway?
And did they announce ZOE3, or did I dream that?
Where's Dawnguard PC? Or PS3, for that matter?
And the same for OTRSPOD3.
And no mention of the ME3 DLC that, you know, adds the bare minimum of content a game ending needs before it's shipped out to retailers.
And also, while I at it, can we have a moment for the Vita, who has such an awesome summer line-up in Japan... but absolutely nothing in North America?
