Calling it "Final Fantasy HD" makes me think a XIII-style CGI-fest version of FF7 in with Advent Children's aesthetic.
That's not a good idea.
A simple PSN/Vita/3DS remake in the vein of Chrono Trigger DS would be much better. Rewrite the script a little bit (and re-translate it), maybe add in a few sidequests or whatnot, a new game plus feature, and replace all of the 2D art.
And then also either replace the (awful) 3D mode...
Holy crap? You mean Sony is actually advertising the Vita? I had no idea....
Slightly more competent. The hate will never be "over" as, ultimately, this is too little, too late.
It's really mind-boggling considering how, well, pretty much every other Bioware game in history, regardless of its other faults, managed to pull off the ending pretty damn well.
I'm not that worried. It'll still have a higher dpi than DSiXL, which was fine for me.
I'm worried about three things.
First: the speakers. The 3DS had -AWESOME- speakers. I really hope they don't skimp out.
Second and Third: the 3D. I worry the 3D effect maybe be worse, and/or I'll have to hold the LL too close or too far from my face to be able to play comfortably.
Other than that, I love everything abou...
That's okay, no one expected one. Call of Duty games are not games that are supposed to have the player make choices that impact the games narrative. That is not the core theme is Call of Duty. The core theme of Call of duty is, "war is awesome and killing impoverished, poorly-equipped brown people is fun."
Reccetear is the only "moe" JRPG I've picked up and actually liked. And I've given 'em all a chance.
It kind of sucks that ultimately the "best" way to play is to ignore the dungeon segments, which is a shame, because combat is REALLY fun (reminiscent of Ys).
I'm more excited than I should be. The Rhthym mechanics look really unique and fun.
But I am worried. I still haven't finished all of the older FF games. Hell, the newer FFs either. Will I have to worry about being spoiled?
Then again, the few screens of the 'story mode' I've seen appear to be three characters each shouting a single, possibly unrelated word.
And don't forget Project Diva at the end of the month. Hell y...
I went ahead and bought a 32GB stick for all the PS1 games I want to add.
If only Suikoden II could be one of 'em.
Who do I need to write angry letters to about that? Sony? Konami?
I'm not criticizing the PS+ service here, folks.
I'm criticizing YOU.
Gamers who misrepresent the service and try to sell it to their peers as something "more" than it is.
Gamers who don't realize that if you don't use precise language, you cannot say what you mean--and if you cannot say what you mean, you can never mean what you say.
Playstation Plus is a great service. Really a -genius- level idea ...
Maybe the fact that demarcating the the score to a tenth of a point is ultimately meaningless?
It's been many, many years and I've grown and matured quite a bit from the young gamer I was when I first played Grand Theft Auto III.
And Vice City, and San Andreas, and GTA4, for that matter.
But I'm still somewhat irritated that every single GTA game had a really hot girl on the cover, and a full spread of said hot girl on the included fold-out map... yet all of the in-game models were really quite ugly, and the actual -characters- where often ...
Day 1 buy for me. I've been holding on to my DSi XL all year hoping for precisely this.
The real kicker is that the 3DSLL's screen is actually -bigger- than the DSiXL screen... which is just all kinds of awesome.
To bad the damned thing is region-locked and we're only getting the fugly primary colors in North America. I guess I'll go with red, but I'd really love clean white, or some matte black to go with my Vita.
What is mature? "dark" and/or gritty aesthetics? Twilight Princess says hello. People hated it for being "too dark." Or what about tone and theme? Majora's Mask says hello, too.
Zelda has always been fairly mature, so when I see articles like this I can only think the writer is confusing the concept of maturity with the prepubescent "grimdark" fantasies of little boys the world over.
If you want that, go play Warhammer. Zelda...
Free rentals, pal. You're either trying to sell the service (like so many other users here) or you don't understand the nature of the service. Either way, get your words right.

And the digital library is missing a TON of games. Hell, even the extensive PS1 library is missing several key titles, let alone the PSP and PS2 libraries. Yeesh.
From the very beginning, I've said that Sony really missed a huge opportunity with the Vita. If the Vita had smart-phone capability, it'd be huge. They really should have tried to make it more like an iPhone.
The only way handheld consoles can compete with phones and tablest is if they become more like phones and tablets. Otherwise, they'll die out as phones and tablets absorb their market.
Anyone who thinks either the Vita or the 3DS will enjoy t...
Obviously.
Discounting EA/Bioware's army of apologists and shills, the problems people had with ME3 were numerous. The craptacular ending was only the biggest turd in the toilet, so to speak. It's not the kind of thing that can be salvaged.
Sony has really done digital distribution right. Not perfect, but right.
I really wish someone would tell Nintendo, because they seem intent on doing it wrong. Every single time. If you're going to blithely except content-locked consoles, Nintendo fanboys, you've no right to complain when someone like Trent Oster dismisses your Wii/DS/3DS as a toy.
The consumers are the angirest people in gaming. Not only do we have to accept sub-standard quality in terms of our product, but we also have to suffer the disdain, disrespect and dismissal from both the general culture AND the biggest producers in the industry.
And to top it all off, we also have to endure fellow gamers who insist that everyone stop complaining, shut up entirely, bend over, spread their cheeks and accept each new thrust with a smile and a "thank you s...
Because when we saw the Wii U and iPad, we all thought THAT was the -perfect- gaming device.
It's like kinect and move all over again.
I agree completely. I just wish we'd get more open world games with strong, linear narratives. Too many developers spend too much time developing incredibly open worlds, and too little time developing actual story content.
The only title I can think of that didn't fall into this trap was RDR.
I'd really love to see a game with Skyrim's world and the deep, involving story of a Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Suikoden game. That would be -fantas...
