My problem with Musou games is that, having played several, I never feel the need to buy a new game at release. So if I'm interested, I wait for a good sale or price-drop.
And when that happens, two new games in the series have come out, usually making the one I initially had my eye on pointless.
@Snookies: many people prefer ownership to renting.
This is why so many people take on massive amounts of debt to get a home loan instead of simply renting an apartment or duplex.
It's a psychological imperative, not a practical one. That should be obvious.
Yes, we do say that. And yes, we do that.
But doing something and liking something are not mutually inclusive. Have I spent more money on DLC for certain games than I paid for the game itself? Yes. Several times. Have I ever enjoyed doing so? No. Not once.
But there are some games where I, and others, just can't get enough. Disgaea. Valkyria. Dark Souls. Dragon's Dogma. Tokyo Jungle. Etc., etc.
Personally, I'm more offended by the...
Let's be fair, now. Journalists are by and large a fairly respectable bunch. Well, print-journalists at least. Earning that degree takes a lot of time, skill and dedication.
Gaming journalists don't exist because none of them actually have journalism degrees. Those people get -real- jobs.
Only if you're some kind of moronic Vita owner who somehow manages to only buy the worst games out of the handheld's rather small library.
But, yeah, free copies (re: rentals) of Uncharted and Gravity Rush should be nice for the twelve or so people who don't already own both.
Me? I'd much rather see discounts. Sony's $5 off digital copies for all Vita games is nice. You know would what be nicer? A 10-15% price cut for all digital content f...
I don't think the manufacturer is owned or operated by EA. That's why this mix-up involves games from two of the biggest publishers out there (Activision-Blizzard and EA) who are in -direct- competition.
And, as many other here have stated, getting ME2 instead of Black Ops 2 seems more like a good thing than a bad thing, aside from, you know, the fact that ME2 is dirt cheap these days.
Well, not that Black Ops 2 won't be dirt cheap in a week or tw...
Let me translate that for you: "I know jack **** about history, and lack the basic creative abilities to even comprehend how a sequel to Assassin's Creed 3 might be written."
You're welcome.
There's really no such thing as a bad setting, so long as they're able to keep the emphasis on melee combat and parkour strong. (So those twits who show up in every discussion to badmouth specific settings can go ahead and **** off).
I think that, given the themes at play in Assassin's Creed 3, and the ability of the Anvil Next engine to handle large-scale battles, the next game should involve liberty and war, which does narrow the setting choices quite a bit.
...Do you know what the word "cunning" means? Or the word "villain?" Because Ornstein and Smough are neither.
As for the list here, it's a good one. Well, aside from The Illusive Man. He... couldn't be described as cunning at all, and only barely passed muster as a villain.
I'd replace him with Marcello from Dragon Quest VIII, though he was a bit less of a villain and a bit more of an anti-hero.
Er... I very specifically stated that blaming the value of the dollar was a poor argument. As for overall sales loss across the board... that has two root causes--unrealistic sales production, and that whole "global economic recession" thing.

@LOGICWINS: You do have a point, it's just a stupid. Gaming is indeed a cheap hobby if you don't buy gaming media. Buying used and waiting for price drops, abstaining from DLC... all of these things...
Er... gaming is an expensive hobby, and it's been becoming increasingly more expensive since 2005. Speaking of the situation as a citizen of the United States....
1. Game prices have gone up, from $50 MSRPs to $60 MSRPs.
2. Collector Editions have become more common, and are often obscenely overpriced.
3. Downloadable Content--pay more money for less content. $3 for a skin! $20 for a 2-hour mission!
The usual argument against the rising co...
What kind of moron disagreed with this? It's not an opinion. Those are facts. Easily, easily verifiable facts.
I spent $600 for my PS3.
I don't care if the PS4 is more powerful than my gaming PC, I care about backwards compatibility, hardware reliability and game library. And even if it has all of those, I won't be buying one for more than $400 or so.
Perhaps "next halloween" would suit this better, because the only people seeing this article in time for Halloween are in Hawaii... and even then, it came a bit late.
@first1NFANTRY: please don't use words you don't understand. It's confusing.
@urwifeminder: Xof is right, you should be able to understand why they're popular. I mean, sure, it's fine if you don't like them, but not to understand why others do? That's just... really, kind of... pathetic.
In a nutshell:
The historical setting and level design appeals to history buffs.
The Templar stuff appeals to co...
You're kidding, right? Big framerate dips are noticable, constant framerate dips are less noticable. The more consistent a framerate is, the less noticable it is.
If it doesn't have full PS1/PS2/PS3 compatibility, I'm not buying. This gen has been awesome, yeah, but it has also had more bullshit than any other generation. More than enough bullshit to dissuade me from staying "current" any more.
The only people who can avoid getting de-bubbled are those who either make a habit of being completely inoffensive with every comment (yay milquetoast!) or those go bet by saying NOTHING for every comment.
I mean, hell, there are people here with five bubbles waltzing around using ad-hominem arguments left and right. Does that sound like an ideal situation to you?
Nah. They're all pedophiles. Eldery pedophiles. Elderly, gimped pedophiles. Who only speak in broken English and are technically mentally-retarded.
Either that or it's all just one big not-so-subtle circle-jerk.
Another Vista? Good God, no. It's so much worse. It's an operating systemd designed -specifically- for tablets.
A tablet OS built around the idea of a touch-screen.
That they've ported to PC.
It's a terrible, terrible idea. For PCs at least. I'm actually excited to see how to new MS tablets turn out, because my biggest problem with iOS and Android is that they're really nowhere near as versatile as I'd like. If Win...
