I get the distinct feeling that no one in this comment thread has the slightest understanding what sexism is.

@Truth: it's... all right. I've only spent an hour or two with it (been too busy with Sleeping Dogs, which I also got for around $15) but it seems like a fairly average squad-based strategy game. The mechanics of play are solid, but the story/characters/setting are generic at best.

The lack of any sort of map editor (f)or UGC, coupled with the fact that the UI is built around gamepads don't really help things.

Pretty sure there's a (small) Ste...

I got it for $15 from Amazon, with that $5 off promotion and a sale price of $19.99. Guess you missed your chance.

I don't think you know what the word 'path' means in this context.

Paths--as in, those found in branching narratives--involve diverging narratives. Like in the Witcher 2, depending on your choices, you can experience one of two completely different Chapter 2s--different setting, different characters, different stories, different quests.

That is a branching narrative.

Using generic NPCs to "replace" dead NPCs is not the s...

The gaming industry has spent a great deal of money, time and effort -specifically- seeking out new ways to make gaming addictive. And they have succeeded.

And not just in the ways you'd expect.

Any time you make a decision that you would define as "impulse," without thinking things through... that's a result of you addiction.

Spend $60 on a game the day-of-release without reading any reviews? Sure, maybe you're an ill-i...

Another 'meh' week for Vita. *sigh*

At least we're FINALLY getting a decent PS2 classic added. At this rate, we'll have Final Fantasies and Dragon Quests up on the PSN store in time for 2061.

You don't cite lectures, genius. Why would you even expect that?

And there are plenty of studies out there than demonstrate a (minor) correlation between violent videogames and violent actions, and greater correlation to violent thought.

It's pretty damn obvious and pretty well-documented that media INFLUENCES behavior. Yes, the gaming community has a problem being scapegoated... but the solution is most certainly not to jam your thumbs in your ears a...

No competent journalist, or halfway decent pretend-journalist, would have let an interview like that slip without bringing that up. I mean, hell, he goes so far as to say:

"Layden emphasized that the recent PlayStation Store redesign led to double-digit growth in the U.S. and Europe, and users were spending more time browsing there, as well. He agreed that the previous design, which remained in place for nearly six years, was a frustration due to its lack of change."...

No, see, Mass Effect 3 mislead players because the decisions we made had no effect on the narrative, no greater consequences, and that was what they advertised.

The Walking Dead does not advertise that. "Tailored" means exactly what you'd expect from the verb. The overall shape of the garmet--the cut, the pattern, the style--remain the same, it's just "fitted" to player.

This is why basic reading-comprehension skills are among the ...

Why single out 2013? I feel like the 360 hasn't even tried to compete with Sony via exclusive games since its second or third year, or the PC since ever.

Exclusives aren't the 360's schtick, and no gamer should EVER hope they would be, considering Microsoft exclusives are seldom exclusive by developer's choice, and more often exclusive through shady backroom deals with publishers.

Playing the main campaign just made me feel that Connor was stupid.

I mean, plenty of games rely on stupid protagonists to push the plot, but Connor really went a bit too far. And then in the Homestead missions, he was the same guy, just less... stupid. Which was an odd counter-balance.

But it didn't really bother me.

I was more bothered by the fact that there was only one big battle we got to fight in--and it was awesome! The high point ...

Great: Five Dora the Explorer games. That's -just- what we needed.

Not Dot Hack.
Not Legacy of Kain.
Not Final Fantasy.
Not Suikoden.
Not Dragon Quest.
Not Fatal Frame.
Not Yakuza.

Nope: we needed Dora the Explorer, Dora the Explorer, Dora the Explorer, Dora the Explorer, and Dora the Explorer.

Dammit Sony! You must be doing something wrong! Start reaching out to publishers! Encourage them--...

@DragonKnight: That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying you have to play a game to judge it. One would think the reasoning obvious.

Can you review a book without reading it? A movie without seeing it? Of course not.

And you don't have to spend $60 to play a game. You can rent a game, borrow a game from a friend, buy used with the possibility of return/refund, or even pirate. There are plenty of options.

If you think gamin...

Everyone played EBA. It's easily been one of the most oft-recommended DS games of all time, right up there with TWEWY.

Infinite Space, now there was a game no one played.

And Ace Attorney Investigations, evidently.

Windows 8 is exactly the same as Windows 7, save for the spiffy customizable start screen. It's not a "bomb." It's not even a new OS.

And neither was Windows 7.

We're still on Vista, folks. We're talking 6.1 and 6.2, respectively.

You mean the terrible excuse for a DMC game that you haven't played, and are thus forming a baseless opinion of?

The game may be awful. It may not. Anyone who's judged that already does not have a valid opinion. (That means you).

There's no "feeling" to it.

I've timed the new store. The fastest task it's managed to complete is adding an item to the cart in ~75 seconds.

Removing items from the cart tend to crash the store.

Sony has built up a lot of goodwill over the years, but IMHO most of it has vanished over the past few thanks to their abominable decisions re: the PS3 and Vita.

I wish I could share your optimism, but of all the games you listed, only 2 are actual Vita games, and only 1 has a release date.

So as much as I wish I could, I can't.

And, really, I don't think the Vita is likely to improve too much until consumers stop working off blind faith and start criticizing the product. Criticism isn't just a consumer's right--it's a duty.
