I have absolutely no idea what any of that means! Haha. Anyone care to make it a bit more clear for a simpleton like myself?

Jeanne,

I've never thought about the prospect that people would do what you're talking about. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but ... wow... I never imagined such ridiculous behavior could occur. Now I realize it could, because people do some pretty strange things to waste their time and others'. I've never really look at ps3fanboy.com but you might be right? I'm not sure. Definitely noticed that it wasn't very fanboyish. For the most part it just stated the obvious ...

This is the first time I've ever publicly questioned someone's "disagree" vote... but seriously. What's to disagree with? It's not nice of Bungie?

If you'd like, I could revise it to: "Boo Bungie! (But it was a nice gesture)"

Yay for Bungie! That's nice of them.

I hate to use another of my bubbles to say this, because I can only post twice more here (once more after this), but: Sony did not steal any franchises from Nintendo. Quit whining, man. Sony made the decision to make a console that utilized CD-ROMs, which provide essentially an infinite amount of storage capacity (no Playstation game ever shipped on more than 4 discs, but any number of discs is possible, just not necesarily sensical). So Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy games were very ...

OK, a couple of things. For God's Sake, this isn't about Final Fantasy, so why bring it up? Another, what's the point of correcting me, I'm not even the one who said it... it's the Europe & North American boss of Konami who said it. He also happened to say "Metal Gear Solid was born on the Playstation," which is 100% factual and true. Also, you're incorrect: Metal Gear was not born on the Nintendo. It was born on the MSX 2, and the famicom version is not even officially cons...

I think I misunderstood the latter half of your longest paragraph. If you're saying that the reason the game takes up a whole Blu-Ray disc is because of lossless audio, then you are correct and I agree with that!

I agreed with you until you implied that Resistance doesn't have better sound than Crysis. That's just not even true. Resistance has incredible high quality 7.1 surround sound. It's much better quality audio than Crysis. If you want to talk about the voice acting, the sound effects, or the music being "better" or "worse", then that goes into the realm of opinion, but the quality of the audio is far better, and takes up a lot more room on the disc. And not every game d...

Yeah, but Trip Hawkins left EA and founded 3DO. 3DO had nothing to do with EA because Trip Hawkins had nothing to do with EA at the time. Trip Hawkins still has nothing to do with EA. So it would be a totally independent choice if EA decided to go the console route. I don't think they will either, but 3DO and Trip Hawkins don't really apply to the situation, I don't think.

I completely agree that there's no chance of it going to the 360, and anybody who expects it to can expect to be disappointed (or at least proven incorrect)...

Unfortunately for this article, though, one of their reasons why it won't hit 360 - that nobody at Konami has ever implied that it could - is kind of false. Both of these statements are over 6 months old, but nonetheless:

"As we are aware of the popularity and hardware-driving power of this software...

I'm not sure, but you're in for a treat when it does reach EU.

Why not wait until after Metal Gear and then decide if you don't think you like any games for it? By the time that game comes out, we'll be damn close to Disgaea 3, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2 (although you sound like you didn't like the first, so maybe that doesn't interest you), and then next year is God of War. I mean, if you're a true gamer then you should be able to see that any system is worth owning. If you already have the system, you ought to keep it. It's already got good ga...

I don't think they'll release a console. I have no reasons for this opinion.

Gears 2 sounds like it could be pretty darn good. I'm worried as to what they think was wrong with the multiplayer in the first and what they'll change. I really loved the multiplayer in the first and hope they don't change much, just give us some new maps & weapons and I'll be happy. New game types would be welcome, but I hope they keep the same game types from the original in the mix as well.

I'm glad they're making chainsaw battles. That was the most annoying thing a...

What about in-game Home?
Watching the most recent leaked video of the Home Beta, it looks like all the features you could ever want and then some are part of Home. The only problem I noticed with it was that it takes a while for it to initially launch and load up. I think that they should just make Home the new standard interface, because it contains the XMB (in-game PSP) among other things. It could be a cool interface even for people who aren't connected to the internet. And then...

I'm a big fan of my PS3. It provides me with more entertainment than my 360 and Wii combined. Between playing my favorite PSone and PS2 games, Blu-Ray movies, and the PS3 games I've enjoyed so far (I've actually enjoyed a lot more 360 games than PS3 games so far, but Uncharted, Warhawk, Eye of Judgment, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance have all been awesome fun for me)... I use my PS3 a whole lot.

Not to mention hard drive requirements. Microsoft has very prohibitive HDD specifications, what with having only proprietary devices to choose from, available in only 2 different sizes, both being outrageously overpriced and difficult to obtain other than with the purchase of a new console. I have a 20 GB HDD that came with my 360, and it's filled with game saves, downloadable content, downloaded games, some music and videos and demos. I don't have room to be downloading movies. Not only ...

I think it's a bit sad that Major Nelson even feels the need to issue a statement like this. What's the point? I mean, a nice farewell to HD-DVD, sure, fine... I was an early adopter of HD-DVD, unfortunately. But to say that Blu-Ray didn't win is not even true. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray were competing formats. One was discontinued, the other's still around. Face it: Blu-Ray won.

I didn't need some glitzy marketing campaign to tell me it was worthwhile. I just looked at the previews for some upcoming games: Patapon, God of War, and Crisis Core. Then I talked to some people who'd played the Patapon & God of War demo. Then I looked at the selection of games that's already out for the PSP, and read about games like Jeanne D'arc (my current addiction!), Metal Gear Portable, and my favorite: a portable Disgaea! It all sounded pretty sweet, and I knew it was time to...

Sounds good. I'm surprised the PS3 sold faster in Europe than the PSone and 2 did. That's pretty impressive, regardless of whether it was sold primarily as a movie player. As long as the machines are out there, people will be using them for games, even if the occassional owner never puts a game disc in theirs. This is interesting to hear that it's the fastest selling Playstation brand console in the UK because up until this point I'd kept on hearing about how successful the 360 is there an...
