Nice bias there, GiantEnemyCrab:
"That it owns over the PS3 in the largest consumer/gaming market in the world"
Yeeeeah, because 1,182 consoles more than the PS3 for the month of March means that the 360 "owns." It sold a third of a percent more. Not exactly owning it, now is it?
No, don't remember every teaser trailer you've ever seen and measure them against the final games that they were based on. What you need to do is remember every INSOMNIAC trailer you've ever seen and measure them up against the final games that they were based on. They never release target renders. They show us the engine, period. The games always live up to the teasers from this developer, and there's no reason to believe that'll change this time.
st0, every single game I've seen on the PS3 that requires a mandatory installation says exactly how much space is required on the back of the box. Heavenly Sword says 2.1 GB, Devil May Cry says 4.9 GB, Hot Shots Golf says something around that, etc. etc. If it doesn't say it requires anything more than 3 MB, then it doesn't, plain and simple. False advertising otherwise.
This is great news. That means there's no multi-gigabyte mandatory installation that some people have been trying to claim this game would have. 3 MB is probably just the size of the save file, and it's probably exactly the same on the 360.
Hate to break it to you, Commonwealth of Virginia, but telephones are not public airwaves. In fact, they're not airwaves at all. If they actually tried to arrest me on that I'd sue the state and that garbage piece of unconstitutional legislation would not hold up in court.
Guy above, you said: "Hardware sales will definitely help grow the install base, but unless Sony can convince people to buy more games, it's a meaningless victory."
Well, in case you missed it, the "360 owners buy more games" argument is starting to become untrue.
First, a comparison of how many consoles there are:
PS3 = 11.60 million
360 = 18.13 million
Ratio of PS3's to 360's = 64%
The last weeks'...
Here's the score, people: Microsoft had a contractual agreement with Rockstar, and they paid them 50 million dollars so they'd agree to sign said contract. Microsoft didn't put in the proper efforts to ensure that they got what they wanted out of this 50 million dollar deal, and so anything that Rockstar does that is not in violation of that contract is perfectly reasonable and legal. Microsoft made a deal with them, and if Sony made a deal too, all you can really say about it is that it's...
I didn't like the regular edition box art at first, but seeing it now with the proper logos in place (the ESRB rating, the DualShock 3 support logo, etc.), it has grown on me. I know this much, I'll probably be buying both versions because I'm crazy like that.
Unfortunately, my local GameStop is really bad with their shipments, they usually arrive late, but the FYE store that is literally right next to it always has the stuff in when I'm ready to pick it up. So I'm going to p...
Hey! Cool. I've had my eye on both of these for a while now, it's time to finally pick them up.
Deus Ex came out for the Playstation 2, and that's the system I played it on.
It works on the PS3, as well, if you can find it.
Though it would be super awesome to get a new next-gen style remake of the game for consoles.
I'm not sure about Europe in 2007, specifically, but Worldwide in 2007, the PS3 outsold the 360. And the PS3 wasn't even available in Europe until March of 2007. The PS3 did better in 07 than the 360 did (hardware sales, not software sales), and at a significantly higher price. Now, the 360 gets a huge price drop in Europe, and the PS3 is still outselling it. It's not looking too good for the 360 at this point. But as long as it can keep selling a lot of software to the people who own th...
I've heard from numerous people who played both versions of Burnout that it's better on PS3. If the average score is lower for the PS3 version, it's probably just because some of the PS3 only magazines and websites, etc., weren't into the game as much as some of the 360 only websites & magazines, etc.
Doesn't mean it isn't as good, it just reflects the tastes and opinions of specific reviewers.
I think this game looks really cool, but I'm still more excited for Disgaea 3.
I'm not positive here, but pretty darn sure that this "Pro Sony article" was actually just an interview with somebody from Sony. Obviously the Sony rep is going to be Pro Sony. Are people going to start claiming rabid fanboyism now anytime there's an interview with a Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft rep? These people are public figures in the gaming industry and so they get interviewed. It'd be nice if every issue had interviews with figures from all 3 companies, but it doesn't work...
I already pre-ordered at one store and they didn't get them in, so I was at another location today and they had them + extras, so I pre-ordered there too and then got the disc. If anybody hasn't pre-ordered yet and wants the disc + beta access, you better get moving. The store I was at had extras, but I doubt they'll last long.
There has already been an update to GT5P that added over 30 vehicles and a new course, and it was free. And he calls this an "update," not DLC. Updates are free. Look at Warhawk, that has had numerous updates that have added features to the game. I'm not saying GT5P won't have any downloadable content (I.E. stuff you pay for), because Warhawk has that too, but the major updates to the game are free, you just have to pay for the new maps. I get the impression that this update wi...
And good games are still coming out for it, as well. The PS2 is the all-time videogame console behemoth to beat. The biggest library with an extraordinary ammount of amazing games, lasting longevity, and immense sales success (biggest sales numbers ever).
750,000 thousand!? As in... 750 million?
I'm just joking. I know what you meant, I just couldn't resist the opportunity! Please don't castrate me.
Honestly, I can understand why people are skeptical of VGChartz, but I tend to think it's the best resource for worldwide videogame sales we have, and I think it's less biased and more accurate than a lot of folks give it credit for. That doesn't mean there aren't flaws, but I think it's a good indication of what's going on.
"Look in the mirror ps fuktards - ps 2 is outselling ps 3 hahaha PS 3 = failure on so many fronts. 360 didn't even have a decent price drop yet in NA - watch what happens when it does!"
360 didn't have a decent price drop yet? It dropped 50 dollars, the PS3 dropped 100 dollars. Whoopdy-doo, what's the point of arguing over price drops, when the 360 is still cheaper than the PS3, but barely sells better? You're going to say the PS3 is a failure because the PS2 sold m...
