It's quite clear the difference in quality between a 1080p video and a 480p video. 480p is 409,920 pixels in 16:9 aspect ratio, where-as 1080p is 2,073,600 pixels. We're talking essentially 5 times the resolution and clarity. Not to mention that any 1080p-enabled television is going to be using better technology than an SD or ED television, and therefore you'll see higher contrast ratio. Furthermore, the sound quality and surround sound modes available on Blu-Ray discs blow DVD out of the...

Where's this so-called research which states that people can't tell the difference? How could you not tell the difference? It's a pretty significant leap in quality between the High and Standard definition. Are they only polling simpletons, or did they forget to use Hi-Def TV's when they showed them the side-by-side? Gee Whiz...

Also... the world is moving away from physical media? I really don't think so. Maybe eventually, but it's not happening anytime soon.

What makes Rockstar so sure that the leechers aren't willing to support their efforts? They could just be impatient and wanting to play it now. If they like it, they could buy it. I dunno.

I know I'm not about to download it, though. I can wait and I can pay.

Resistance 2 has got me way more excited than Gears 2.

Also, it won't be a flop. Not even "possibly." The first Resistance wasn't even a flop, and that was a launch title for a brand new console, at the same exact time that Gears 1 came out. So why would a vastly improved sequel, being released to a much larger console owner base, be anything but a success?

Also, what the heck does he mean by questioning that Metal Gear Online is separate? It isn'...

Had mine since December, and I have 10 games (not counting PSN)

The reason a turd is "ewwww" is because it is waste expelled from the body. It's unhealthy. It's not because it looks gross or feels gross. My point is, when you take off the blindfold and see that it's a turd, it doesn't change your perception because of what it looks like, but because of what it actually IS, and turds are gross! I don't think your analogy is really relevent. A more appropriate one would be... I dunno... you're sleeping with a woman and it feels nice, and when...

This game looks and sounds like it's going to be awesome.

This blog was posted 82 days ago. It's quite old. And his assumption that the online multiplayer will be a lagfest is pretty stupid.

Yeah, well, all video game consoles cost a lot in Australia. The Xbox 360 Pro there is 549 Aus Dollars, which is like 520 US Dollars... compared to 350 US Dollars for that same console in America (and most other regions). So, don't look at this like Sony's screwing Australia on this deal. Australia gets screwed in general. GTA IV itself will have a suggested retail price of about 110 Aus Dollars (typical games have a suggested price of 99-119 now), which is more than 100 US Dollars.

Most excellent trailer.

Absolutely cannot wait to play this game!

I loved Sigma as much as the next guy, but this one's gonna have to wait. I can only afford 1 game in June and I'm afraid that's going to have to be MGS4. Then in July, I'm getting Soul Calibur 4. Maybe by August I'll have saved up the scratch to pick up this game. Then again, it's closing in on May and I still haven't gotten around to Devil May Cry 4 or Lost Odyssey.

I'm sick of running up to a car, hitting a button to steal it, driving around to nowhere, killing random people. I used to have fun with it, but after hundreds of hours of that kind of thing, it just feels like a waste of time, I have more fun playing a game where I have an objective than to just mess around aimlessly. That's all. I'd rather play another another round of golf, or race another race, or play another match in an online war game, or play another RPG, or anything. If I want to...

Nope, haven't played it. Just saying what it looks like to me. Looks like more wasting time. I had fun wasting time in the virtual worlds of GTA in the past, but I'm just sick of that kind of game. It doesn't look different at all from this video. More realistic graphics & physics, and a more NYC-like Liberty City... but it's still the same putzing around gameplay. The only thing that'll convince me to buy the game would be if the missions are somehow more than "Drive here. Ki...

I don't know about this. To be perfectly honest, it kind of makes me hesitent to buy the game, now. I was marginally excited for it, but this just looks like more of the same thing I've already done for 500 hours in GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, but with better graphics. Plus, I played a lot of Saints Row when that first came out... Kinda sick of this genre, I thought the game would be more revolutionary.

More of the same with shinier graphics. Meh.

Thanks. Yeah, you're right, the length of MGS4 will almost certainly not be as long as GTA IV... but the point of my post is to prove that the running time as outlined by the ratings board is not indicative of the game's length. It's obvious that GTA IV is not 8 hours long. It ought to be just as obvious now that MGS 4 is not 9 hours long.

OK. If you don't believe me that this game is bigger than 9 hours, take a bite out of this info:

"GRAND THEFT AUTO IV
When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 463m 0s"
---
"METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 545m 47s."

So if MGS4 is a 9 hour game, I guess that means GTA IV is an 8 hour game. But we know that's not the case. Don't ...

Hey! You just quoted me from GameFaqs! Heh.

You got to post it here before I did (my own post is a couple down below)...

Edit: hey now, no need to go clicking that disagree button. This is a fact. I even wrote 464 instead of 463 in my post over there, and this post matches every single detail of my post including that error... I don't care, just thought I'd ... uh... selfishly point out that I deserve a spot of credit ? heh.

Everyone, I have proof that this 545 minutes running time is significant, and not representative of the length of the game, but does give an idea of how absolutely huge the game really is.

"GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

This work was passed with no cuts made.

When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 463m 0s"
