Sounds almost like they found something in testing and plan on working it out. Excellent.
8million people all try to download the same thing at once and EVERY SINGLE ONE of the 8million people all wonder why their download is going slowly.
Hmmm.... Lemme think...
As said, this ien't about Vista sales, it's about the rampant piracy. I'm sure Adobe Photoshop sells like 1 copy/year there, yet I bet millions more use it.
I think Gold is set at the perfect price. Would cheaper be better? Sure. Would more benefits be better? Sure.
...it's hard to argue with free. Heh.

Welp, that's 20 years of history right there. Is everyone excited about me now? Heh. Seriously- let's wait to see what in the world the devs really MEAN first.
Are they going to cover a decade that happens in the universe's storyline, do they plan to work on this project for a decade, does the first game happen when the hero is 8 an the second when he's 18? We have no clue.
As Archie bunker said:
"Would you prefer if they was pushed outta windas?"
Look at scotland recently, where criminals have turned to carrying machetes and swords. You might diminish the overall violence just because less people have the guts to get that up close and personal with someone... but that's not exactly the best crime deterrent.
You have to treat the root causes of violence, not the symptoms.
For those behind on the news-
The student responsible had a troubled psychological history, and was nearly commited on at least one occasion as a court had rendered him a danger to himself. He was let free, but the court apparently suggested outpatient treatment.
Shortly before the shooting, one professor at the school had actually approached law enforcement officials because they believed the kid posed an imminent danger, and this professor was basically ignored.
...
...and Sony having to drop the 20GB entirely because it's so unpopular is better? Heh.
And as said- this was a mistake on the writers' part. Gamestop takes the hard drive seperate from the Pro console, and getting the rate on the Pro console requires you trade in all its accessories as well.
If you're willing to trade all that in, you can keep your hard drive completely, transfer your files, and get the $30 extra later.
Retailers really ARE working desperately to push PS3s. How many stories have come out where anxious managers (mostly at Toys 'R Us and Best Buy) were asking employees to focus entirely on PS3 because they were worried about moving stock, at the expense of the other two consoles?
It's not just fanboyism- retailers really ARE pushing one console above the rest, and that's unfair practice. Mostly to themselves, because at lots of those locations, PS3 was being outsold by the other...
I tried to view flash the otehr day on Wii and it would never finish anything- it got even up to 2/3 of the way through one and just reloaded the whole thing. Still have no idea what it was doing.
BTW: Web 2.0 is still a completely stupid concept. Just because myspace (preceeded by GeoCities personal homepages) and youtube (preceeded by video sharing via newsgroups) came along, we're all suddenly running a new version of the internet? That's like your cousin Bob who grew a mous...
Two bits:
1) As said in the article, the indie scene is still HUGE. Look at successes from Diner Dash to Garry's mod. This "innocence" is not gone.
2) Would it really have been so bad for some Commodore developer back when to take two years to create some massive three-cartridge massively impressive graphical treat that would have wowed the entire world gaming community? Didn't think so.
I love how all these "SIMULATION" fans keep whining that GT doesn't need damage.
...a title that prides itself on a constant search for realism, where you ahve always been able to pinball off of opponents because of the lack of any damage modeling whatsoever,
...and yet they contantly **** otherwise when anything about the game is even remotely unrealistic, an they all threw a collective tantrum when the devs even thought about putting Nitrous in GT4 be...
As pointed out, yes these are good points... but then again, this is also John Romero. Yeah, he's a cool guy, but:
...but he's a primarily PC-based developer, and the PC industry has been having a lot of problems as consoles have taken up the slack.
...and Romero not too long ago was behind Daikatana, one of the greatest gaming failures of all time. *insert cough*
I like Romero and all, but c'mon.
360 and PS3 are doing just fine. Wii is doind supe-magi-tast...
PS3 and 360 games look identical...
What is this, the 100th time?
Oh, but these are just ports. And PS3 just needs more time. And developers just don't know how to utilize PS3 yet. And Ken Kutaragi keeps a magical set of keys to unlock the true potential of Cell, but he's waiting for the Blue Fairy to tell him when...
[edit: Sorry to be so flamey, but c'mon, the evidence is becoming a bit overwhelming at this point]
A virtual Me? My God, what will (Nintendo) think of next?
Broken TVs ahoy!
"OMGZMOBIE!"
*crack*
Remember to properly fasten your wrist straps, all.
"look at the films like Pearl Harbor"
I don't remember him making a film called Pearl Harbor. I do remember "Love Story That Begins After Pearl Harbor and Drags on for a Freakin Hour" though. Heh.
Better than Uwe Boll, but still meh.
Who wants to take bets the only thing tying the movie to the game at all will be that it will be set in a remotely middle-eastern setting?
Photorealisic 420p > jaggy 1080p? Absolutely.
I wish more people would realize that resolution isn't as critical as everyone pretends that it is. It would be great to have both, sure, but balance is the key.
If a game is running in 1080p, you might as well just picture the devs telling you about all the things they cut out. They went from 60fps to 30fps. The draw distance was cut in half. Textures were scrubbed to low-res. Polygons were cut out.
And the...
Now for all the people who will clamor that if it's ready for internal tests, why not a public beta... funnn...
[Research, people... please?]
Bad-looking games make easy 1080p.
How many times has it been said?
