Whole-heartedly agree.
... or Melee.
If we learned anything from this, it's that MAXIM probably shouldn't be reviewing video games. Can we all universally agree (on both sides of the console war) that with little more than a paragraph per review and these terrible scores that MAXIM has no idea what they're talking about, and probably doesn't deserve any reviewing credibility in the gaming world?
Maybe Sony and GG don't care about your pre-order? Maybe they want you to try KZ2 before you buy it. To me, that shows real confidence in a product, when a company relies more on the quality of their product than pre-order hype.
And what leads you to the conclusion that parapraxis is a "die hard Sony fan"? He never mentions Sony.
You're coming off as defensive and more than a little bit juvenile. You exerted so much energy typing up a lengthy, heated response that you didn't stop to realize that NOBODY IS GOING TO READ IT IF YOU COME OFF LIKE A PRICK.
Ignored.
I LoL'd too.
@Yahoo! games' idiocy.
People are blowing this way out of proportion. I don't see a problem with how Sony and GG are handling the KZ2 demo. Early access to the demo is being given to players who have eagerly anticipated the games release (IE: pre-ordered). While at the same time, "normal" people are still able to try out the game for free, albeit a day early.
This isn't fear or arrogance. At worst, it's fan-service as a reward for those who toss their money around before trying what they'...
Now how is this constructive at all? I'm not saying that I disagree, I'm just wondering, what do you get out of making statements like this? You do it for the LOLs?
It was designed in such a way that non-gamers and non-FPS gamers could enjoy it. From an FPS gamer's point of view, Halo is pretty generic. I'd liken it to Final Fantasy 7. In a lot of ways, FF7 is NOT the best Final Fantasy (nor the best RPG), but it did a really good job introducing non-RPG gamers to RPGs.
With thor's fanboyism aside, there is an awful lot of truth to his statement, albeit a little blunt.
I'm really not all that interested in Halo: ODST. Here's to hoping that Bungie drops the Halo BS and starts innovating. We know you can make multi-million selling generic console shooters, Bungie, as this is your fourth one. What other tricks do you know?
Proximity based voicechat?! Really? Holy nuts!
Even comparing Killzone 2 to Crysis is a point in KZ2's favor.
I'd really like to see what all the fuss is about. Is it all viral marketing and word of mouth that's getting people all hyped up about Alan Wake? Because, honestly, I have a hard time getting excited about a game that I know nothing about.
I know that this holds true for me. When it comes to the console war, I tend to sympathize with Sony. I also don't really care about Final Fantasy XIII. Maybe ten years ago (I was 13) I would have gobbled FFXIII up like candy simply because of its title, but anymore, I just don't have any interest in Final Fantasys. I require a lot more out of the games that I purchase. I'm just not as naive as I used to be.
Agreed. For a casual shooter, Gears 2 isn't too shabby.
I'm primarily a PC gamer as well, although I do own a PS3. It's good to hear that "one of our own" was impressed. I managed to get a DEMO key from a friend that works at Gamestop. If KZ2 manages to impress me half as much as it seemed to impress this guy, then I'll drop the money for a pre-order.
Does that equate to twice as many disappointed 360 gamers?
If you're so worried about RRoD, why are you buying a 360 in the first place? REAL 360 gamers learn to shrug it off, deny the problem or accept faulty hardware as part of the package. If that doesn't work for you, then simply don't buy the console.
That said, a good number of people in the games' division received pink slips today - a few of my friends included. It was a sad day here in Redmond.
