Why defend it? This TV box just isn't going to be as good at gaming, it's ok to admit it.

So the system still requires an Internet connection to play games.

They should just require the disk and ditch this pay wall.

Used games do not hurt gaming. Every used game still has dlc to buy that goes to developers. It also allows people to try games they wouldn't normally due to low cost and the ability to sell back games. Think we'd have Dark Souls, let alone Dark Souls 2 without the used game market? Doubtful.

I want to know how this works if it's not always online? In guessing an offline box requires the disk be inserted.

But why buy the one with fewer exclusives? I'll get both if Microsoft drops the live fees and isn't always online if they have good exclusives, but given Sony's track record, it would be foolish to not buy the PS4, unless you just didn't like games or something.

Not sure what conference you saw, but it was quite straight to the point.

It still doesn't matter, but that doesn't mean people aren't interested in what it looks like.

Nailed it.

It's not the same market. It's like comparing blockbuster movies to YouTube videos. They are complimentary of each other. One will not replace the other. There will always be demand for awesome movie going experiences, just like there will always be demand for big budget console games.

Eh, I'd like to see a next gen take on something like Kinetica. Customizable characters, open world...

4715d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

It's not impossible....

1. Pay to play online, mostly P2P
2. Batteries
3. DVD holding back the games

That's ignoring the faulty hardware, their constant desire to nickle and dime their customers, and pretty much ignoring gamers for the last three years.

I'm excited to see what they have to show, but I won't even consider buying one unless they make some major changes to their business practices.

Except there's this pesky thing called the constitution that stands in the way. Video games, like other media, are protected by freedom of speech. By taxing it based on its content, they would be infringing upon that freedom.

I like Joe, but politicians may want to consider understanding what they're talking about before opening their mouths.

4715d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

I hope so. There's certainly no technical reason why it couldn't.

As much as you Xbox fanboys would love for Sony to charge for online, it isn't going to happen. There is no doubt that you'll need a PS+ subscription to get the most out of the online functionality of the PS4, but if you just want to play online, it will be free.

I'm actually a little surprised that they'd finance these boxes and only make $40 over two years. It seems like a low return. I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't include Xbox Live, but, I'm also expecting an increase in lives pricing, or possibly a third tier.

This works both ways too, there are games like Battlefield that absolutely don't need to waist resources on single player

4722d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Rarely.

Pachter is an idiot....but he's likely right. And I'd imagine they've scrambled to remove the always online requirement, if it was there to begin with.

I want to see some genetically engineered bio weapon style dinosaurs with mounted canons, and laser beams on their frikin heads... Pilotable of course.
