and that reason (letting others dictate and generate your own opinions) is a big reason I take reviews in general with a grain of salt and don't understand why people sling reviews back and forth in arguments, regardless of the medium or art form in question. You simply can't use an opinion as a fact.
I am eager to see how I'll like Win 7 when I finally get to try it out.
liked the single and multi-player of Perfect Dark (again, just talking about the original, haven't tried the prequel, PDZ)...but that's just me. The voice acting and levels and design, weapons, cheats, balancing, mood, and stealth aspects, etc.. there were even hidden levels and weapons within levels, tricks to use, etc...and it was even better than GoldenEye's single player (which was already highly stellar to begin with)...I simply loved everything about PD 1.
Perfect Dark was an amped up GoldenEye, and improved on it in every way. I have never played PDZ, but when I say "Perfect Dark 2" I'm talking about a true sequel, not a prequel that got mixed reviews.
In the original, the weapons were more numerous than most (there were like 3 dozen different weapons, secondary modes, creative tactics to use), you could steal them from enemies and make them dizzy, you could put bots (called Sims) in the multiplayer and arrange their te...
I don't have a 360 yet, but I'd totally get one just for a solid sequel to PD (still have the original on my 64, I've earned all cheats and challenges multiple times on that cartridge)...A PD2 with a map-maker and a solid storyline, sharp graphics, tons of multiplayer, challenges/shooting range, etc.. would be amazing.
G3 monitors they might as well call it iF****dUP and be done with it.
The economy is hurting pretty bad, they'd be taking a large gamble to enter the console fight now. When Sega dropped out, they were last seen with FOUR companies slamming heads, you had Sony, Nintendo, and MS had just joined the fray, and that year, with four of them, Sega pulled out. I don't think there's ever been a gen where four platforms did decent, but since the Wii has such a different market share, it m...
I was thinking the same thing when he said something else related to owning a PS3 (legit ownership, not "fanboy ownership")....seems Crab became a real gamer (by owning and playing "games" not brands), more than he was last year, at least. I remember rolling my eyes every time he posted, no different than POG and them. I hope he drifts further towards rational mindsets (not due to his Playstation gaming, but trying ALL games, regardless of platform).
To any wh...
that the "sequel" I described in the hypothetical scenario was a game (just re-read it and it didn't make as much sense as I intended).
I do hope this game turns out good. If movie-games continue to turn out bad, Hollywood studios and execs may just start not allowing them to be licensed at all (if revenues drop, of course) so they don't tarnish the brands. It'd be nice for a triple A quality-game to come out of this, so a bar can be set, and maybe others will try to sh...
difference here, though. Most of the time, the movie <-----> game process/conversion is paralleled or synced up to coincide with one another. This is an entirely new storyline, not anchored by a movie or bossy studio, it is completely up to the writers to do this as an "official sequel" so to say...imagine that, hypothetically, the sequel to 300 was not based on the next movie, but a brand new storyline written by Zach Snyder and had voice-work by surviving members of the firs...
Music games. I like music, I like games, but mixing the two never felt like I was a Rock Star, it was just a glorified Mini-game if you ask me, but I know many people felt otherwise, hence the explosion of popularity they received. I couldn't tell you if it is a fad or if this is just due to the economy, though. They may be great games, just not for me.
I wouldn't think they'd make pre-existing games utilize both analog sticks if they did it. What I mean is, if they came out with two analogs, there wouldn't be an advantage, the current shooters would still use one, and any new games coming out could be a case by case basis, phasing in the 2 sticks as an option OR, they could do it like the K & M on PS3 games, gamers would only go up against those with 2 analogs, or with a single one, so there wouldn't be any advantages to speak of. I thi...
I'd love a true sequel too, it's just that the collective consensus on PD Zero was that it was average, so, we all keep wondering if Rare still has it. Until proven otherwise, PD 1 is the prime of Rare's shooter talents...
on top of the fact that the Challenges and shooting range and cheats, and stat tracking, varying gameplay per difficulty, sim customization, etc.. made the original Perfect Dark way ahead of it's time. You will still be hard pressed to find a console shooter with not only a massive single player campaign and loads to do with local multiplayer options (online consoles had just started with Dreamcast the year Perfect Dark came out and N64 had none), but ALSO such a massive amount of side "...
to state that I don't consider IGN to be "illegitimate" by default (I just reread my post and took it another way)...IGN is hit or miss, but generally more trustworthy than dumps like Kotaku and others that blast their bias all over your face while reading...
I meant to say, I'm eager to see a jumble of reviews on this game, to see if the scales tip up (or even down, who knows)...
for all we know, a re-release with improvements/fixes will head to the PS3 a la Sigma and Red Alert 3 (or to the 360 and PC, like Alone in the Dark: Inferno)...who knows, maybe IGN would review "that hypothetical version" and give it a 7.5 relative to this review...never know...I say the more games the better. IMO, very few games are "unfixable" to an absolute degree. That is to say, almost any game could be "repaired", just look at a review...9 out of 10 times, ...
high hopes for this game, as well as the concept of it. I wonder what the collective consensus will be over the next batch of (legit) reviews.... I really liked the idea, but didn't follow it closely enough to notice a downward slope of any sort....eh....
the leap in logic from "sales catching up" to "Sony admitting defeat"....sales are but one attribute to a console's identity, and if you don't believe that, say hi to the top selling and "best console," the Nintendo Wii. Apparently Microsoft lost to Nintendo with that line of thinking.
On another note, also say hello to the Ford Focus, which is a superior car to a Mercedes Benz, because sales trumps all.
Do you get it yet? How long will ...
but I guess there are two ways of looking at it. Come to think of it, I don't know if Wolfenstein 3D coined the term or not (First Person Shooter), etc... so it makes me think when did each genre come about, and when did one of its games give it a title.
and I know they're quite popular in general, but my personal taste is in action-RPG's, like Vagrant Story or Threads of Fate....but that's just me.
And to note, the "father of survival horror" is really considered to be Alone in the Dark, as its first release pre-dates any Res Evil game by a few years (1992)...
Interesting list none-the-less...
I'm really taking some perspective on this, particularly this quote from the Playstation Lifestyle, if accurate/valid.... "the next PSP is NOT the PSP2, it’s not the PSP-4000 either. In fact it’s something entirely unique."
I don't know how, but it almost sounds like this is an alternate version of a PSP, it's not a PSP 4000 and not a PSP2, so that kind of rules out any sort of "successor" doesn't it? I'm not sure what to think then, if that is true. Solid st...
up for this quicker, although I was already planning on buying it, I wasn't sure when I'd get it because of medical bills, but I've seen a lot of videos now on the game and read even more, and my anticipation is growing enormously.
Aquanox, stop with the backhanded compliments, we already know you hate the PS3, clever wording in your post to walk the gray line of unbiased attitude is obviously a ploy. Why can't you like games instead of manufacturers, you're gonna miss out?
