but even if you got a launch version of the 60 gig for $500, an 80 gig with MGS4, a Dual Shock 3 controller (not sure if any 60 GB had them) and a free Pain voucher (it's an okay game, but it's a $10 value for free, I guess...) all for $500 isn't too bad either, I don't regret it....

exactly, because the fanboys are so young and naive, they are probably thinking "NES, isn't that emulator program thingy?"

It was a sick system, my first one. I thought it was heaven, it was what REALLY introduced me to gaming (I'd played bits of Atari and "IBM games" like Buck Rogers and Munchman, but not at length or in my own house in depth...)

parts off Newegg, mostly retail (to make sure the cables etc.. are all there, and just for peace of mind as well, to be honest)...and I'm building my own rig. Coolermaster HAF 932 and an i7, 6 GB OCZ XMP RAM, Antec Sas well as the P6T Deluxe V2....should be putting it together this weekend if I'm lucky...but, I say that because I looked at Cyberpower and iBuypower ads just to see what kind of cost I would have been looking at to have it put together by them....I more or less beat their prices...

right now that's overkill, but it could be a way of future-proofing the rig...although, by the time games/software can push and utilize 24 GB of RAM, something like "DDR5" etc... may make the version now used quite obsolete....I'm not sure, it depends where the tech is headed, and some others here may have more insight than I do on that front....

either, as an American, I'd love to see how this turns out. It sounded like they were crafting this game out of respect, not trivializing the war or losses...as long as the military/veterans are okay with it, because THEY were there actually DOING it, then I'm fine with it. If a senator or soccer mom has a problem, then they can go research the game and come back with some insight.

I got at Circuit City (RIP) last August, don't regret a single penny put forth that day....Incredible bundle (BC ftw!!)

he chose that element of hostility, because he didn't even read my post right. Saying one is proud of their nationality isn't pompous, saying you're better because of that nationality is, and I did the former. I'm not an elitist, but I guess stereotyping prevails sometimes.

On topic, I have pretty much written off getting Fallout on the PS3 now, because of all I've heard. I'll get it for PC I guess, since it'll be cheap and look best.

but I loved Solar Striker, one of the first games I played for Gameboy, along with Super Mario Land 1 (with the rubber fireballs and submarine levels).

Even though I have a PC and plan to get it for that when I build my new one, I'd be interested if a PS3 version released with the new maps and some mod compatibility to boot....If that "edition" retailed, I'd be interested, I won't lie... but keyboard and mouse are hard to beat, however...

I wasn't offended by "Yanks," I've heard that before many times and it isn't offensive, I was commenting on your "retards" comment as well as your presumptive attitude towards the personality traits of Americans "preferring DVD9 instead of Blu-ray". Try reading your post, then mine.

So now suddenly you know all about my history of global travel and your pretentious attitude towards other nations makes ME the narrowminded one? Wow, what astute capacit...

have to do with an entire nation being condemned to such a label?

I have a PS3 and PSP and love it, and Microsoft often annoys me, oh, and I'm a proud American. Stop stereotyping, that's the kind of arrogance that the US is seemingly always labeled with, and you don't see me being that way. Think a little bit, we're not all a bunch of 360 fanboys, despite the misrepresentation found on this site....

Blanket statements are naive, be above that please.

little bonus for PS3 owners (like me), and I'm happy to see something finally swings in favor of extra content that way. I'm no fanboy, so I simply get disappointed when I hear 360 getting more content than me, but I still at least get the option to either get it anyways (sans DLC) or get it on PC (which is what I plan to do with my choice for Fallout 3, since I want to have the full story, I'm frustrated a PS3 version wouldn't give me that, I won't lie)....I made my choice in console, and I ...

you always speak as if you are totally unbiased and objective. Fanboys of any circle are obnoxious, can't you be above that?

in the DLC complaints from Sony fanboys (note I say fanboys not owners, there's a difference) and your point you just made, you have to realize there's a difference between this Joker exclusive content/DLC, which we don't even know the "cost" of, and an unprecedented value of $50 million just for DLC, on top of Tomb Raider, Fallout, etc...all adding up in just one year. I think the volume and frequency of money being thrown around is the chief complaint, not that any money is being ...

"more females playing games" should be refined into what kind of games they are playing. Wii Fit and Guitar Hero aren't the same as a new audience for Bioshock and God of War. I'm not saying "girls don't play boys' games" or anything, but many articles like this (speaking in general, not on this article) talk of how new users are getting into games etc...when much of the time it's the Wii or DS, etc...and not so much hardcore gaming, not that that doesn't happen, but I'm j...

1: how do we know this DLC practice wouldn't have a slow, vicious cycle effect on future considerations on platform (PS3 in this case) releases, the devs/publishers won't even know that the effect would be happening....We gamers (rightfully) get pissed at the "gimped" releases, and they sell less than they could have if equal to other versions (because people either won't bother, or get it on PC or 360, etc... instead), and the exec's look at it for later reference on future titles,...

can "broaden the market" all they want, in doing so, they simply bring the masses more casual shovelware. "Broadening" a market doesn't mean you are progressing the current one, as Sony has done for hardcore gaming on the PSP. I like my DS and its core games, but excelling at the core market is optimal, IMO. My gf may like an interactive cookbook, but I like saving humanity and playing high quality movies and MP3's just fine.

can lead to offensive assumptions, but marketing trends, like the FPS fascination, is at least based off of some viable evidence I suppose. As an American, I can vouch for fitting some of the pattern, though, RTS games and action-rpg's are equally up there for me, depends on the game. Even an average FPS is NO match for Red Alert or Zelda gaming.

I honestly think a good portion of these trends obviously has to do with the culture of the dev companies, most RPG's come out of Japan...

Gamestop in the US has a 7 day return policy on used items, if that's what info you were looking for on our side of the pond. You'll hear of people even "renting for free" here, ie: they beat the game in 7 days, return it, and get another one to "rent for a week"....though, I like owning most of my games, so I've never done this...

I always seemed to meet up with fanboys in them whenever I have shopped there, I had one guy ridicule the hell out of me because I...
