Did you even read anyone's replies here or did you just skim it because that's easier? NO console manufacturer can implement such tech like this for a console that is already being developed, that has nothing to do with "Bluray superiority complex" or whatever else you're going on about. It's not cost-feasible or mass-production friendly, how much do you think a console reading a disc like that costs to manufacture for the target release years of 2011/12, let alone the games burned ...
because there's a difference between tech that will be around in 2014 and the tech that is CURRENTLY being researched for the next gen of consoles. The next generation of consoles is well into its obligatory research cycle, and the cost of implementing such a medium right now is through the roof, not something that can be implemented for a console that is already well underway (all 3 are working on the next gen as of now, not 2014)...
I will never state tech like this is impossib...
is speaking of his entitled opinion. Not all Americans here think that way at all. Moving on.
12 TB downloads are the future!
/sarcasm
I bet Eurogamer already has those other games scored, less work that way.
and it's sickening to think they're as "influential" as that on the web, to spend a few minutes creating a character and then slap a 2 on a game is atrocious. Then they had the nerve to claim it would damage THEIR reputation by taking it down? No sh*t Eurolamer, look what you did you tools, it needs to be damaged. They should be banned from the industry. I can state as an artist in digital media that disgusts me.
a jump from DVD9 is yes, about a factor of 6 x, but a jump from 50 GB to 12 TB is not 24, you missed a zero, it's 240 times the size of a 50 GB bluray.....240 times the size of a blu-ray disc. 12 TB is 12,000 Gigs of space....TWELVE THOUSAND Gigs, as opposed to the 50 of a BD? That's a lovely size, but really?
2 Things: 1 being that that's a s**tload of space, and 2 being that the cost of each "disc" has got to make the console that reads it as well as the game itself m...
but I'd rather see a teaser as opposed to nothing. If I had months with no word on a game and suddenly a trailer, it's not as cool as a teaser, then a couple months later a trailer. To me it indicates the devs are pumped about the game and it exudes confidence in it's progress.
"teaser" (whether this was fanmade or not)
because they're disc based. I'm used to the cartridges though, and those were always $60 since the SNES days. N64 was the same, Perfect Dark and all, were $60 new. I bought Donkey Kong Country 2 for SNES brand new from Best Buy for $60 over a decade ago.
Xbox 1 games when it was brand new were often $60 too from where I shopped but that was in the early 2000's when it was current.
If you account for inflation, $60 now is actually a steady price raise from the prices ...
to state we should avoid realism in games because we are attempting to escape real life is inaccurate. We are trying to enter an alternate reality, not avoid "reality" altogether, therefore, making that alternate reality void of realism makes no sense.
of SNES, so I wouldn't agree on that topic, but whatever. I go to Cheap ass gamer to check out deals, they cover online and in store deals and are up to the minute practically....
one of the most atmospheric pieces of entertainment I've ever encountered, and that's factoring in movies. Top 5 games (both of them) ever material, with Ocarina of Time and Perfect Dark 1 for me. I played the PC versions, so I can't speak for the console iterations.
I believe, no? The Games for Windows version is more money, and I've been told that it shouldn't matter as it's not region-based, but then why sell 2 versions? I've heard both sides (some say it won't work, some say it will) so I'm confused on the matter to be honest, as informed as I normally am, that is...
as an artist with a degree in Media Arts and Animation, I can totally state that was profoundly epic and brilliant. Stellar atmosphere and presentation, I can't wait for this one. Amazing.
You need to realize that "PS3 owners" are not a singular, identical group, just like 360 owners are not all the same. Sure, it looks like many above are saying they won't buy it, but you apparently glossed over the ones who said they will. Are the couple dozen gamers here representing every PS3 owner? It's not all black and white, all or nothing, that's the problem with fanboys, they're extremists, fanatics. The shades of gray in this world go over your head, and as far as gaming, t...
but I still pop in GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Ocarina of Time every now and then, and since they still have the same charm and fun I found back in the day, I still consider them classics next to Super Mario 3 and A Link to the Past, but that's just me.
realize how "age" is pertinent or defined. Some games don't age beyond just dated visuals. A shallow interpretation of "aging games" would lead to your conclusion, but that's not what gaming is about, now is it. Brilliant design and fun do not age.
How many modern updates/reboots to classic/retro games look better but falter in every other aspect, including "fun"? Some things are timeless, it's not all about polygon count, resolution and number of pa...
I started reading the review at a random spot and within seconds spotted the "corridors that seem to extent forever" bit, when it should say "extend". I haven't read Nintendo Power in years, but bad grammar is always suspect.
I went to school in Schaumburg at the Art Institute where some of the HV guys went too (though they graduated a few years before me)....
I think to look at the attempt made (whether the game is "amazing" or not) is noteworthy, simply because of the game's target console. At least they didn't succumb to making more shovelware and garbage for the Wii. They are/were trying to push graphics and an engine on a system that has been condemned to virtually purely, casual gaming...
