@Picnic
I completely agree with you. I didn't want to write too much in my first post, but I think in general it is games with epic stories.
It isn't exclusive to that though. It could be that the game-play was wacky and imaginative, or just over the top fun. Portal for instance. Quirky, funny and original.
It's too hard to say which games are more deserving of this 'classic' status, as everyone will have different opinion...
A lot of that is due to the fact that Sony are well renowned for making games for the 'core', and devs these days are trying to find new and cheap ways to make quick $$$.
It does suck, yes. But there are already some great games out for it. Persona 4 Golden has like a 95 on Meta off 20 reviews or something. That's insane.
It shows a handheld can have better games than what home consoles can offer.
I think people are being a bit to presumpt...
Agreed.
I had no idea there were so many talented developers and studios situated in the UK before this read. Amazing.
In Australia, we don't really have much going on here. Mostly due to the fact that our government are very backwards, and we don't even have an adult rating for games. They only recently realised that the games industry is worth more than the movie industry (SHOCK! Horror!), so it is more of a real issue now.

Can I poke it with a stick?
Yes, stuff always gets stolen. My sister used to work in retail, and she said the amount of stuff that got stolen in these sales was over $100,000. This was over the boxing day holiday.
I wouldn't want to imagine how much Walmart loses each year through theft.
Online deals are much better, as they are hassle free. Maybe those people haven't discovered the internet yet? By the way they act I'd say it isn't the only thing they haven't discov...
Well, the way I see it is it has best in class Gameplay and Graphics (on console, not THE best but in top 5 EASY)!
Story is debatable, I really enjoyed it as I am a huge Halo fan, and read the books. At the very least they captured the emotion between the 'Chief' and Cortana expertly.
Multi-player, while I stopped playing it, it is still very well done. Commendations, Unlocks, lots of game-types, Forge, Theatre etc.
On content alone i...
Agreed. There are so many excellent games that have come out this gen. I can't imagine even half of them will earn the "classic" status (not the Xbox platinum/ classic badge).
I think it is mostly story oriented games. As graphics and gameplay show their age, but story doesn't.
I'm talking about Bioshock, Heavy Rain, The Darkness, Alan Wake etc. Those will definitely be remembered as classics. Although, I'm not sure how long after th...
Agreed. While I was a major fan of Bethesda, and while I can still admit Skyrim is an excellent game, I can't just forgive them for what they have done.
It shouldn't be an issue of "oh well, at least it isn't bad on my console", all gamers should question why Bethesda was able to get away wit this.
If I buy a TV and it doesn't work, I'm able to take it back. They would also get re-called. This highlights a major issue in gaming. ...
@SyWolf
"So while I never say it like that,"
I wasn't trying to impersonate you. I was just making a point that you never see people comment on stuff like that. They always judge by graphics.
I'm with you though, I'd prefer higher resolution and especially frame-rate. But I can't see that happening any time soon because of the reason I mentioned.
@ElementX
I used it in context though...
What's a spoiler alert?

@beerkeg
Talk about backfire lol. Dem disagrees.....
Lol DSQD
I don't even play CoD. But you are obviously a kid, and just revealed that you are probably a fanboy of Battlefield.
I don't even own any of the CoD games. Screen tear was apparent in the battlefield games. FACT.
TBH, I don't like either CoD or Battlefield. Sorry I offended you though kid.
GameInformer had one with the Ni No Kuni issue I got.
I gave it to a friend though....
Everyone who uses a trial I know of usually ends up paying for PS+ afterwards, as it is so good. Couldn't imagine not having PS+ any more.
That's one thing I hate about Halo MP. I get this super awesome armour colour, but can't use it (only in FFA/Regicide).
I'd like a team based mode with everyone in their normal colours. You can differentiate the good guys and bad guys by having the enemies names in red above their heads or something. Doesn't seem to be a problem with other games.
Although, now they have a "story" behind the whole RvB thing......
Actually, I'd be happy with the Xbox 1080 lol. Even though it skipped 720, at least it might imply we are finally going to be able to play games in full HD.
DICE are no better. They couldn't get rid of screen tear in Battlefield. They stuffed up PS3 Bad Company 1 and 2, and even though BF3 was better on PS3, they promised sooo much more but then left it out.
Maybe it would be against MS policy to give PS3 version better physics/dynamic environments? Not sure.
Point is, DICE didn't deliver what they promised us PS3 gamers.

1080p = 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 = 2.1 megapixels.
4K resolution = 2160p = 3840x2160 = 8,294,400 = 8.3 megapixels.
There is also 8K resolution, but lets not get into that. I fail to understand how next gen consoles will be able to do 4 times the resolution that we couldn't even achieve this gen.
Even upscaling won't help, but rendering a game at that resolution? No way. I still think that a lot of devs will find it hard to reach full 108...
"What would be better would be 1080P at 60FPS as standard on all games next gen."
Technically, it is possible this gen. Developers know that eye candy sells games, so they aren't going to sacrifice neat graphics for higher resolution and frame-rate.
Expect the same next gen. Us gamers are to blame, as whenever 2 games are going head to head, you can bet your bottom dollar that the graphics are the first thing that gamers will pick out.
That's such a cruel thing for a super-hero to say! I'm shocked ;)
